  • Patent number: 9336534
Abstract: The present invention is a fan networking system (FNS), available through a software application, executing on fans' portable smart devices for an event to be held in a venue. A FNS may offer event-customized services to fans, such as messaging, fan groups, mementos, coupons, “friends”, and contests. The level of services might depend on whether a fan is attending; timing (pre-, during, post-performance); for a competitive event, whether the fan affiliates with the home or away team; and the category of fan (e.g., audience, management, performer). Determination of whether a fan is attending may be done with geolocation services, e.g., through GPS. A fan might need to remain within the venue for some period of time to qualify as attending. Services to attending fans may extend for a period beyond the event itself.

  • Patent number: 9307416
Abstract: The present invention may include system for utilizing operational information obtained by one wireless communication medium that is supported by a wireless device in order to optimize the operation of another wireless communication medium also supported in the same device. More specifically, the present invention may leverage channel condition information collected as part of the standard operation of a wireless communication medium including interference avoidance capabilities, like Bluetooth™ with Adaptive Frequency Hopping (AFH), in order to modify the operation in another wireless communication medium such as by determining a channel scan list of potential operational channels to scan, determining a scan order for the channel scan list of potential communication channels based on, for example, the probability that a channel is currently being utilized by a target device, and/or altering a scan rate for one or more communication channels.

  • Patent number: 9301250
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and device for handling a cell outage. The method for handling a cell outage includes: receiving, by a first base station, an energy saving activation message sent by a second base station when a cell outage happens to a second cell, where the energy saving activation message is used to disable the energy saving function; transferring, by the first base station, the first cell from the energy saving state to the normal state according to the energy saving activation message, or keeping a third cell in the normal state until learning that the cell outage of the second cell is solved. This method prevents a coverage blind area in the network when a cell outage happens to a second cell that covers the area of a first cell which is in the energy saving state.

  • Patent number: 9285864
Abstract: A mobile terminal device includes a first processor that processes data acquired by a sensor, and a second processor that transmits the data acquired by the sensor to the first processor. The first processor acquires a transmission condition corresponding to state information of the mobile terminal with reference to association information and transmits the transmission condition to the second processor. The association information associates a transmission condition with state information. The transmission condition is a condition for transmitting the data acquired by the sensor from the second processor to the first processor. The second processor transmits the data acquired by the sensor to the first processor in accordance with the transmission condition transmitted by the first processor.

  • Patent number: 9282459
Abstract: A system for location based security which includes a plurality of receivers. Each of the receivers determines times of arrival of received time varying signals. The system also includes a server in communication with the receivers and a mobile device. The server receives the times of arrival from the receivers, and times of arrival of the time varying signals determined by the mobile device. The server determines a location of the mobile device based on the times of arrival. The server may then authorize the mobile device to perform secure communication over the secure communication network when the location of the mobile device is determined to be in an authorized communication area defined based on the times of arrival received from the receivers.

  • Patent number: 9246603
Abstract: A coexistence interference mitigation method is provided. In a wireless network, a wireless device is equipped with multiple radios in the same device platform. The wireless device also has a control entity that communicates with the multiple co-located radio modules. A first radio module receives a notification from the control entity. The notification informs a critical signaling status of a second radio module co-located with the first radio module. Upon receiving the notification, the first radio module stops uplink transmission due to coexistence interference and transmits a coexistence indicator to its serving eNB. After a certain period, the first radio module receives a second notification that informs a completion status of the critical signaling of the second radio module. Upon receiving the second notification, the first radio module resumes uplink transmission and transmits a coexistence resume indicator to the eNB.

  • Patent number: 9241241
Abstract: A method in a first radio network node for handling position measurements is provided. The first radio network node receives from a second radio network node a position measurement associated with a user equipment, and a system frame number. The system frame number is associated with the second radio network node. The system frame number is further related to a point in time when the position measurement was performed. The first radio network node calculates a position estimate of the position of the user equipment based on the position measurement. The first radio network node defines a time stamp which is based on the received system frame number. The first radio network node then signals to a third radio network node a positioning response. The positioning response comprises the position estimate and the time stamp.

  • Patent number: 9240972
Abstract: A method to improve the registration of “Permanently Registered Users” (User1, User2, . . . User500) in an NGN-IMS subsystem. The permanently registered users are coupled to the IMS subsystem via a group device (AGW1, IP-PBX, SIP/H.323 GW) that is registered in the IMS subsystem as a dedicated IMS virtual user by means of its IMPI/IMPU identifier. The HSS/UPSF server is then allowed to download the user profiles in bulk. This results in fewer loads on the IMS and in a shortened start-up time of the group device(s).

  • Patent number: 9209860
Abstract: A primary mobile station engaged in a communication session via a radio access network (RAN) may receive forward link communications over a forward link channel and transmit reverse link communications over a reverse link channel. If the quality of the communication session degrades, the primary mobile station may involve a secondary mobile station by establishing a short-range wireless communication link with the secondary mobile station, e.g., using Bluetooth™, IEEE 802.11, or other wireless communication protocol. The primary mobile station may then transmit reverse link communications to the RAN over the reverse link channel and also transmit the reverse link communications to the secondary mobile station, via the short-range wireless communication link, for transmission to the RAN. The RAN may receive the reverse link communications from the primary and secondary mobile stations as two distinct reverse link signals, which the RAN may combine together to achieve a diversity gain.

  • Patent number: 9210557
Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards SMS-initiated mobile registration. A mobile device sends an SMS message to a mobile registration device. In response, the mobile registration device generates a random identifier and associates it with the mobile device identifier of the mobile device. Then, the mobile registration device sends a response SMS message to the mobile device, the response SMS message containing a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) to a mobile registration web page, where the URI contains the generated random identifier. The mobile device uses the URI to navigate to the mobile registration web page, where additional registration information is provided. The mobile registration device associates the additional registration information with the mobile device based on the generated random identifier included in the URI, and creates a user account based on the mobile number from which the SMS message was received and the additional registration information.

  • Patent number: 9198086
Abstract: In a mobile communication system, a relay station connects to a first or second base station, and communicates with a mobile station at a timing corresponding to the destination base station. Before execution of a handover for switching a destination of the relay station from the first base station to the second base station, the relay station transmits a signal regarding the second base station. The mobile station synchronizes with the relay station after execution of the handover, on the basis of the signal regarding the second base station which is received from the relay station before the handover.
