Abstract: An RFID tag and a method of its use are disclosed. One such RFID tag includes first, second, and third RFID inlays included on a tag housing, the first, second, and third RFID inlays each corresponding to a different rate identifier. The tag also includes a panel engaged with the housing and movable among first, second and third positions. The panel includes RFID shorting structures each positioned to electrically contact one of the first, second, and third RFID inlays such that, in any of the first, second, and third positions, only one of the first, second, and third RFID inlays remains active.

Abstract: Mobile payments integrated with a booking system. In one embodiment, for example, a method in a service provider computer system is performed. The service provider computer system is communicatively coupled to a computing device of a user and a merchant point-of-sale computer by one or more data networks. The method comprises: receiving a request from the computing device of the user to pay a ticket open at the merchant point-of-sale computer; obtaining a current total ticket amount for the ticket from the merchant point-of-sale computer; determining an estimated total ticket amount based at least in part on the current total ticket amount; authorizing but not capturing payment of the estimated total ticket amount with a payment network gateway computer; after the ticket is closed at the merchant point-of-sale computer, obtaining a final total ticket amount for the ticket from the merchant point-of-sale computer; and capturing payment of the final total ticket amount with the payment network gateway computer.

Abstract: Systems and methods which provide a reusable shipping product comprised of a reusable shipping container and reusable shipping event code are shown. A shipper may use a user device to interact with a reusable shipping event code and/or corresponding shipping event management system for facilitating operation herein. The reusable shipping event codes of embodiments provide for shipping information used in processing an item during shipment in a configuration adapted for repeated use in shipping. A shipping event code database is preferably provided, such as at a shipping event management system, wherein shipping information associated with a corresponding shipping event code may be stored, such as for use in shipping services processing of a shipped item using a reusable shipping product of embodiments herein. The reusable shipping containers of embodiments of the invention provide shipping containers which are adapted for repeated use in shipping.

Abstract: Infection control methods and systems associate proximity-detection devices with people in a population, such as people in a hospital. Each proximity-detection device detects proximity events with other people. The methods and systems detect proximity events and, for person-to-person pairs who were involved in such an event, records at least one risk value as a measure of risk of an infectious agent having been transferred between the pair. Upon indication of an infectious agent transfer to a member of the population, a health worker may conduct an infection control intervention on members of a subpopulation of people based on detected proximity events and risk values. The method and system may be extended to fomites. Correlations may be made over multiple infection events.

Abstract: A method for promoting sales and increasing brand recognition is described. The method includes selecting a brand name based on customer purchases enumerated on a transaction receipt generated on basis of transactions performed by a particular customer. The brand name is then obfuscated. The customer is provided an application to be used in conjunction with the obfuscated brand name to try and complete the missing letters in the brand name. The customer is rewarded with an incentive for uncovering the brand name and in order to submit the solution the customer is obligated to provide demographic information.

Abstract: Systems and methods which implement a rules based engine for processing items for shipping are shown. Embodiments implement a series of rules that are executed in a particular order to address decision points in processing individual items of a plurality of items for shipping. A user interface adapted to allow a user to create rules, weigh or order the rules, revise rules, enable/disable rules, etc. is provided according to embodiments. By selecting and associating various rule parameters, such as conditions, operators, and/or outcomes, through the rules interface a user may create and revise rules as desired. The rules interface of embodiments provides a hierarchical rules environment in which the resulting rules are weighted or ordered for hierarchical implementation.

Abstract: Features are disclosed relating to a collaborative ticketing system that manages various aspects of ticketing for events (e.g., movies, concerts, sporting events, and the like) using knowledge about the contacts, friends, and other social connections of system users. The collaborative ticketing system may generate dynamic ticket offers that are based on the number of friends, invited by users, ultimately obtaining tickets. The collaborative ticketing system can also streamline the procurement of concessions and other event-related items by allowing users to pre-purchase such items (e.g., in connection with ticket offers), and then pick up the items at the event venue with little or no wait. In addition, users can preview event-related content (e.g., movie trailers) for event providers (e.g., movie studios), and answer questions or otherwise provide feedback about the event-related content in return for special offers, rewards, and other considerations.

Abstract: A point-of-sale system with a mobile payment feature includes an electronic display, one or more processors, and storage media storing a payment plugin to the point-of-sale system. The payment plugin sends ticket data representing a guest ticket over one or more data networks to an online service provider computer system; receives instruction from the service provider computer system to mark the guest ticket as designated for mobile payment; and causes user interface feedback on the electronic display that the guest ticket is to be paid via mobile payment. By doing so, the merchant is informed through their point-of-sale system that payment of the guest ticket will be facilitated by the online service provider. This alleviates the merchant from collecting payment from the guest before the guest leaves the merchant's premises and allows the guest to leave the premises as soon as the guest ticket is ready for mobile payment.

Abstract: A sorter of medical findings for assessment by a medical coder is provided. In some embodiments, the sorter receives information about a user (coder), including identification, a role, and historical activity. The sorter determines whether to run in exploration or exploitation modes. Exploration is used to explore the scope of the findings and also identify variables that impact a finding. Exploitation is designed to maximize a goal (such as throughput or profitability). Lastly a finding is selected and provided to the user. The selection is based upon computing internal parameters when in exploration, or based upon optimizing for criteria when in exploitation. The sorter may also determine competency for the user, and cut them off from performing additional coding if they are found incompetent.

According to one embodiment, a social media assessment tool includes an identification logic that identifies interactivity criteria of a social media property. The interactivity criteria is associated with access to the social media property. The social media assessment tool also includes an assessment logic that determines that interactivity criteria satisfies a threshold value. In response to the social media property satisfying the threshold, the assessment logic calculates a score for at least one feature of the social media property.

The embodiments limited the amount of information exchanged among autonomous entities. The embodiments can incorporate existing AC optimal power flow (OPF) software systems. In one embodiments, a subgradient-based iterative method is used.
