  • Patent number: 6151777
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a blank raw material for a hose end fitting includes several steps, The method includes providing a rod-shaped material having a socket end and a screw-connecting end, and forming at the socket end of the rod-shaped material a pipe-shaped socket portion and a rod-shaped nipple portion surrounded by the pipe-shaped socket portion. A flange portion is formed having a diameter larger than that of the socket portion in an intermediate portion of the rod-shaped material by fitting a second pipe-shaped mold to the screw-connecting end so as to sandwich and compress the intermediate portion between the first pipe-shaped mold and the second pipe-shaped molds A screw-connecting portion is formed at the screw-connecting end by inserting a punch in a center portion of the rod-shaped material when an external periphery of the rod-shaped material is supported by the second pipe-shaped mold.

  • Patent number: 6149563
Abstract: A calender which includes a deflection-controlled roller with a rotating hollow cylinder and a non-rotating cross-head. Hydrostatic supporting elements on the cross-head can be radially displaced towards the inside circumference of the hollow cylinder, and have hydrostatic bearing pockets in their contact surfaces. The position of supporting elements are controlled using a cylinder space with a small cross-section. When there is a problem with the web, the cylinder spaces can all be hydraulically relieved, eliminating the contact pressure and therefore the exertion of force by the supporting elements.

  • Patent number: 6148515
Abstract: The method of the present invention comprises the steps of:providing a first aluminum member and a second aluminum member to be bonded to each other;forming a zinc alloy soldering layer on the surface while applying ultrasonic vibration to any one of the first aluminum member and the second aluminum member; andbonding the first aluminum member and the second aluminum member through the zinc alloy soldering layer. That is, the first aluminum member and the second aluminum member are formed by casting. The first aluminum member is thereafter immersed in a molten zinc alloy soldering bath. Ultrasonic vibration is applied, and a zinc alloy soldering layer is formed in a prescribed region of the first aluminum member. Further, a zinc alloy soldering layer is formed in a prescribed region of the second aluminum member in the same manner as in the first aluminum member. Then, the first aluminum member and the second aluminum member are bonded through the zinc alloy soldering layer.

  • Patent number: 6145194
Abstract: A method for repairing a shrink-fitted turbine disc without removing the disc from the shaft. The method is composed of two basic steps: (1) depositing one or more weld layers in a vicinity of a defective region of the disc using a temperbead welding process and (2) heat treating the disc using an induction heating process. In a first embodiment of the method, the heat treating step includes heating a heat-affected zone of the disc in a vicinity of the one or more weld layers to a temperature T.sub.h, heating a rim region of the disc to a temperature T.sub.r and heating a bore region of the disc to a temperature T.sub.b, where T.sub.h, T.sub.r >T.sub.b. In a second embodiment of the method, the heat treating step includes heating a region of the disc in a vicinity of the one or more weld layers using the induction heating process and concurrently cooling a bore region of the disc.

  • Patent number: 6141863
Abstract: A force-controlled robot system with a visual sensor capable of performing a fitting operation automatically with high reliability. A force sensor attached to a wrist portion of a robot detects force in six axis directions for force control, and transmits the results of detection to a robot controller. Position and orientation of a convex portion of a fit-in workpiece held by claws of a robot hand and position and orientation of a concave position of a receiving workpiece positioned by a positioning device are detected by a three-dimensional visual sensor including a structured light unit SU and an image processor in the robot controller, and a robot position to start an inserting action is corrected. Then, the convex portion is inserted into the concave portion under the force control. After the inserting action completes, it is determined whether or not the insertion state of the fit-in workpiece in the receiving workpiece is normal.

  • Patent number: 6138353
Abstract: A method of repairing a crack in a boiling water reactor shroud includes forming a pair of slots in the shroud on opposite sides of the crack in angled relation to one another so that the lateral spacing between the slots increases in a direction parallel to the crack, lowering a wedge clamp with laterally spaced slides into the annular space between the core shroud and the reactor vessel, positioning the slides in the slots, and moving the clamp in the direction of increasing lateral spacing between the slots to an operational position where the clamp prevents unacceptable opening of the crack during reactor operation by providing a structural load path which transmits structural loads across the crack. The slots are preferably configured to mate cooperatively in a manner which prevents the clamp from moving in a radially outward direction relative to the shroud once the clamp has been installed.
