Abstract: An image reading apparatus reads an original image of an original, which is conveyed along a conveyance path, using a scanner unit and a CCD sensor unit. A separation sensor, a lead sensor, and a sheet discharge sensor, which are provided to the conveyance path, detect occurrence of a jam. A restarting method for reading processing of the original after the occurrence of the jam includes a first restarting method of re-placing all of the originals, which have been fed, on an original tray and a second restarting method of re-placing only an unread original on the original tray, and is set by a user. In a case where the second restarting method is set, the restarting method is determined from any one of the first restarting method and the second restarting method based on a discharged length of the original having been discharged to a sheet discharge tray.

Abstract: An information processing system includes first and second information processing apparatuses. The first information processing apparatus transmits a request for status notification to the second information processing apparatus, which transmits a response of the status notification to the first information processing apparatus. The second information processing apparatus transmits a header of the response to the first information processing apparatus when receiving the request for the status notification from the first information processing apparatus, and transmits a part of a body of the response to the first information processing apparatus in response to the occurrence of a status change to be reported in the second information apparatus. The part of the body includes information on the status change. The second information processing apparatus transmits a last part of the body of the response to the first information processing apparatus when the status notification becomes unnecessary.

An MFP as the image processing apparatus generates or changes print data for printing print contents on a recording sheet to generate printed matter. Print data including information on pages is acquired from an external apparatus. Information designating ones of the pages, which are to be rotated through 180 degrees, is acquired. Based on the print data, image data for a surface of a sheet is generated by arranging two or more pages on the surface of the sheet. If a page is not to be rotated through 180 degrees, image data is generated by arranging the pages in a predetermined layout, whereas if all pages are to be rotated through 180 degrees, image data is generated by arranging the pages in a different layout from the predetermined layout.

The image reading device obtains lists of data names regarding image data stored in a plurality of external devices, respectively. It is determined whether the data name of the image data stored in the storage is included in the lists received from the plurality of external devices. The image data stored in the storage is transmitted to all the plurality of external devices when the data name of the image data stored in the storage is not included in any of the lists received from the external devices. When the data name of the image data stored in the storage is included in at least one of the lists as received, the image data is not transmitted to anyone of the external devices.
