Abstract: A container for accommodating a stack of pictures is disclosed. The container has a display window, a first chamber for accommodating a single picture at the window, and a second chamber separated from the first chamber wherein the remaining pictures of the stack can be loosely housed.

Abstract: A structure for displaying articles on vertical surfaces. Included in the structure is a frame assembly for retaining the display article and a pair of frame hangers retained by the frame assembly and adapted to receive the ends of a supporting strand. The frame assembly comprises a plurality of joined elongated frame sections; each frame section comprising a longitudinally extending channel defined by a rear wall, a pair of side walls joined to the rear wall, and a pair of front wall lips each having one edge joined to a different one of the side walls and opposite edges spaced apart by a slot that opens into the channel.

Abstract: A message dome for a roof of an automotive vehicle in which the message portion of the dome is attached to a base and the base is independently attached to the roof. The base includes four corner support sections having a first plurality of bores for providing removable securement of the base to the roof of the automotive vehicle and a second plurality of threaded bores separate from the first plurality of bores; a first plurality of bolts extending through the first plurality of bores to secure the base to the roof; a cover including a third plurality of bores operatively associated with the second plurality of bores when the cover is fit on the base; and a second plurality of bolts extending through the third plurality of bores and threadedly engaged within the second plurality of bores for removably securing the cover to the base, whereby to permit removal of the cover from the base without removing the base from the roof.

Abstract: A shuttle display apparatus including a base formed with multiple sets of pairs of parallel lateral tracks connected together on their opposite ends by respective longitudinal shuttle tracks. Display panels are racked together for translinear travel progressively in such lateral tracks to selectively display, in coplanar relationship, the respective front sides of a pair of such panels in one direction and to thereafter selectively display the back sides of such panels in coplanar relationship in the opposite direction. A drive is provided for automatically advancing a pair of panels along a pair of lateral tracks and then shuttling one panel of the pairs to an adjacent pair of lateral tracks to dispose such pair of panels abreast of one another in a coplanar displaying position for displaying composite messages in one direction or another.

Abstract: A display device comprises a sealed flat container formed by two rectangular sheets of glass 10,11 spaced from each other by a small amount and sealed together by a glue layer 12 at their outer edges. The container encloses water and detergent, a quantity of air and fine sand 26. After settling of the sand in one direction, the container is inverted causing bubbles 27 of the air to rise and form a bubble layer partially supporting the sand while allowing it to percolate gradually downwardly between the bubbles.

Abstract: A device for heating hair curling rollers consisting of an attachment for a hair dryer of the small portable type which is frictionally attached to the barrel of the hair dryer so that heated air from the dryer passes through the attachment. The attachment is arranged to support a number of hair curling rollers of a conventional type and to direct air from the hair dryer into and around the rollers to heat them to a working temperature. The usual heat indicating spot provided on each roller may be applied to the exterior of the attachment. As an adjunct to the attachment an adaptor is provided to enable the attachment to be attached to hair dryers having barrels of different external diameters. A fan is preferably included in the attachment to assist in even distribution of heated air over the hair curling rollers.

Abstract: An animated mannequin head for simulating human facial expressions. A rigid substrate in the form of a head is partially covered with elongated, pressurized fluid filled tubes. The tubes, termed tube motor elements, are either covered by or are embedded in a deformable layer/stratum, the outer surface of which is textured and tinted to simulate facial skin, the layer/stratum positioned on the head to simulate a face. Upon variation of the fluid pressure within various groups of the tube motor elements, various facial expressions may be simulated. In a first embodiment, helical coil springs are used instead of pressurized tubes, passage of direct current through the coils causing them to contract, the coils being embedded in a deformable layer/stratum. In a second embodiment, a grid of parallel wires is embedded in the simulated skin, passage of direct current through selected segments of selected pairs of wires causes them to move together, at right angles to their length, thus distorting the skin.

Abstract: A price chip support strip of simplified construction has positive engagement with guide and retention tracks of a strip support frame. Individual price chips are conveniently removed and inserted at the front of the price chip support strip. An effective light seal is assured by the structure.

Abstract: A marker particularly adapted to fit onto the hook of a clothes hanger and bearing alpha numeric information on its periphery takes the form of a cylindrical ring defining a central traversing hole receiving the clothes hanger hook whose outer periphery bears the alpha numeric information. A radial slot extending over the entire longitudinal extend of the ring whose width is in excess of the width of the clothes hanger hook permits radial entry of the clothes hanger hook. A pair of barbs arranged respectively to the sides of the slots with pointed ends directed radially inwards towards the center of the marker with their pointed wedged ends confronting each other, permits the clothes hanger hook to be pushed through the slot by deflecting the barbs laterally. Locating lugs extending from the inner surface of the cylindrical ring wall towards the center of the marker unit center the ring relative to the hook. At least the barbs are formed of resilient material.

Abstract: A price cassette (1) is described which comprises a moulding (2) in which a plurality of parallel wells (14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19) at least partially open towards the cassette front side and separated from each other by webs (9, 10, 11, 12, 13) are disposed for receiving price and/or information tags (31). The price cassette is provided with a cover (20) which is connected to the moulding and is adapted to be placed against the cassette front side for covering the wells. The cover comprises transparent window areas (22, 23) through which the price and/or information tags can be read. The wells at the moulding are open over their entire length towards the cassette front side and the webs between the wells at least along a portion of their front faces (32) facing the cassette front side are formed in arrowhead shape.

Abstract: A modular display apparatus for receiving and displaying sign panels, in which panel support elements co-operate with elevated ridges and frame overlay members to form sign panel regions in which the sign panels may be deployed. Panel insert slots are formed at one end of the panel sign region where no elevated ridge is positioned, through the overlay of a frame strut; the insert slot serving as an insertion aperture for the facilitated receipt and/or removal of the sign panel. A back cover plate member is integrated into the support panel and insert locking devices are provided to maintain the sign panel in place, within the sign display region, by precluding inadvertent removal through the insert slot. A "stepped" or staggered configuration of a number of such sign panels as well as a back-lit light transmitting embodiment are further described.

Abstract: A working apparatus comprises a plurality of rollers and a control unit for controlling rotation or movement of the rollers. The control unit controls the rollers such that at least one of the rollers is located on the opposite side of the other rollers with respect to a sheet.

Abstract: Frame structure for support and display of a stained glass work of art or the like that includes a metal structural frame assembly; an opaque reflector panel secured to the rear of the structural metal frame assembly; a perimeter assembly secured to the metal frame assembly that defines a sight area for the planar, light-transmitting work of art and a series of compartments that extend about the periphery of the metal frame assembly, together with a work of art support within the sight area, and a diffuser panel secured to the perimeter assembly and extending beneath the sight area between the work of art and the reflector panel. Disposed in the series of compartments and located rearwardly of the diffuser panel are a plurality of light sources. Light from the light sources passes through the metal frame assembly and through the diffuser panel and the work of art.

Abstract: The invention provides a surgical device which has a probe for insertion into soft tissue during a surgical operation, and a drill guide for guiding a bone drill during the operation. The drill guide is connected to the probe and is adjustable in position and attitude relative to the probe. The drill guide is releasably lockable relative to the probe in a plurality of different positions and attitudes.

Abstract: An artificial fingernail tip which simplifies and shortens the time required for its application onto a natural fingernail is presented. The artificial nail tip is structurally reenforced by integrally forming a plastic sheet with a fabric during manufacture. A free end of the fabric forms a fabric skirt which skirt together with the part of the sheet that is integrated with the plastic sheet facilitates application of the artificial fingernail tip to a natural fingernail.

Abstract: A combination underpant and herial truss includes an underpant brief, an elastic belt disposed at the circumferential upper edge of the brief, and a pair of at least partly elastic bands whose ends are affixed to the elastic belt. The bands pass laterally of the crotch of the pant, adjacent the leg holes of the brief. Preferably, the bands include a first inelastic segment on the front of the underpant extending diagonally across a hernia affectable region of the wearer, a second strongly elastic segment disposed adjacent the inguinal channel of the wearer, a third inextensible segment extending upwardly from the second segment, and a moderately elastic fourth segment connected to the belt and the third band segment. Pockets are included over the hernia affectable region for receiving a retaining pad.

Abstract: A pressure-sensitive adhesive backed information-conveying sign which is readily removable and reusable is provided. The sign includes an adhesive-free zone contained entirely within the perimeter of the sign which may be readily grasped with the fingers to remove the sign from the surface to which it has been applied. A method for producing a pressure-sensitive adhesive sign containing such an adhesive-free zone which may be adapted to modify conventional laminate production line procedures is also provided.

Abstract: An advertising sign holder for attachment to a vehicle roof is molded from a translucent plastic sheet. A triangular base flange has a hollow truncated pyramid with a triangular base integral therewith. The pyramid includes an integral top. Suction cups are attached to the corners of the base flange for the dual function of attaching the sign to a vehicle roof and maintaining separation of a plurality of signs nested together for storage. An electric light disposed within the pyramid portion provides illumination of the sign holder.

Abstract: Disclosed is an intramedullary nail used to unite the separated fragments of a fractured long bone. It has a C-shaped bar-like appearance having a flat front section seen from the direction of insertion as well as a connecting part and, if necessary, a slit in its distal portion. The flat section prevents the rotation of the nail and supports load; the connecting part is used to extract the nail out from the medullary canal; and a stopper for prevention of the rotation is attached to the slit. Such a nail exhibits a stable fixing effect.

Abstract: A holster clip 10 having a recess 46 on one leg 22 whereby a portion of the wearer's belt 18 is deflected into the recess by the opposite clip leg 20, anchoring the clip and its associated holster and weapon to the belt against inadvertent dislodgement.
