Patent number: 4898195Abstract: A travel compact constituted by a rectangular case which houses a sliding drawer having a set of cells therein for storing a small supply of compatibly-colored cosmetics. The drawer is replaceable by another when its supply is exhausted or should the user wish to take along a different set of cosmetics. When the drawer is retracted from the case to expose the cells, detents formed on the side walls of the drawer at the rear end thereof engage a pair of catches which flank the open front end of the case to prevent withdrawal of the drawer. The rear section of one of the side walls is detacted from the bottom wall and from the rear wall of the drawer to form a flexible tine on whose free end is supported one of the detents. When the tine is depressed, this action releases the detent thereon from its catch and makes it possible to withdraw the drawer from the case.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 1985Date of Patent: February 6, 1990Assignee: Shore Plastics, Inc.Inventor: Morris Sussman

Patent number: 4885854Abstract: A picture frame is formed by folding a unitary blank along pre-formed fold lines and includes front, intermediate and rear panels. The intermediate panel is folded behind the front panel, which is apertured, to form a three-sided pocket for retaining a picture to be viewed through the aperture. A pocket seal is effected by the rear panel which is folded over the intermediate panel and is also folded out of plane to present a convex rear frame surface. A resulting curved lower edge of the rear panel cooperates with the lower edge joining the front and intermediate panels to provide a stable support for the frame. The front panel is provided with flaps which overlie the intermediate panel to close the sides of the pocket. Slots are defined in the flaps to receive tabs on the rear panel to secure the rear panel in its folded configuration.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1983Date of Patent: December 12, 1989Assignee: Picturemates CorporationInventor: Hal M. Patent number: 4886080Abstract: A cosmetics package according to the invention includes a container for a liquid, semi-liquid, paste-like or viscous cosmetics material, e.g. mascara, and a plurality of material applicators detachably secured to the container and having elongate portions projecting into the container. There is a plurality of openings into the container, each opening being defined by a projecting neck onto which a closure cap portion of a respective applicator can be detachably secured, e.g. by screw-fitting. The elongate portion of each applicator comprises a shaft attached at one end to the closure cap and having at its other end a material-retaining/applicating portion. The interior of the container may be sub-divided into mutually separate spaces for containing different cosmetics material, each opening providing access into a respective one of said spaces.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 1988Date of Patent: December 12, 1989Inventor: Rodney D. Patent number: 4884583Abstract: A hair roller and a curler rotating device which has a motor (24) and batteries (28) housing within a body (20). The motor shaft (26) penetrates the body at one end and has a tapered mandrel (34) attached that connects to a tapered bore (40) on the roller (36) allowing a removable connection. The curler (38) further has a clip (48) for holding the end of a lock of hair to start the rolling procedure. A clamp (56) holds the hair in place when the rotating device has finished the rolling process and rotates freely within the roller body. A second embodiment contains a slipable sleeve (58) and motor driven gear (70) in place of the mandrel and tapered bore that limits the torque of the motor to a predetermined value. This precludes pulling of ones hair when rotation is completed, overcoming previous attempts to solve the problem of excessive motor power.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 1988Date of Patent: December 5, 1989Inventor: Oscar C. Long, Jr.

Patent number: 4858357Abstract: A card for exhibiting and displaying alphanumeric information, such as a pricing sign for retail use, is provided. Generally the card is reusable. At least a portion of the face of the card has a background formed thereon in a dark colour, and a plurality of multi-segmented alphanumeric presentation display digit. Each of the display digits has at least seven bar segments so arranged as to form the digit "8". Various alphanumeric digits or letters can be formed by changing the colour of none or some of the bar segments of each display digit, so as to change its value, using a marker having an ink which is substantially the same colour as the colour of the background. The changed displays thereby present alphanumeric data, most usually pricing data, as desired. The card may be reused by wiping the changed display digits with a dampened wiping means which may carry water or a specific solvent, depending on the nature of the ink that has been used in the marker when the display digit was first changed.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1987Date of Patent: August 22, 1989Assignee: Octagon Industries Inc.Inventor: George T.
