  • Patent number: 4125044
Abstract: A rotary cutting apparatus for forming serially connected envelope blanks from a longitudinally advancing web of sheet material is provided with two rotary knives, both of which rotate into cutting relationship with the same stationary knife but at different times. The web of sheet material is advanced over the stationary knife so that at least one side of the web is positioned between the stationary knife and each of the rotary knives to remove a section at the side of the web. With two sets of rotary and stationary knives operating respectively on the two sides of the web, a series of interconnected envelope blanks can be formed by feeding the web through the cutting apparatus at a speed coordinated with the rotations of the knives. By adjusting the angular relationship of the two rotary knives with respect to one another about the axis of rotation, the section of sheet material removed from the advancing web can be varied correspondingly.

  • Patent number: 4124919
Abstract: An apparatus for use in transporting peeled frankfurter casings or the like from a typical frankfurter peeling device or the like to a station such as a garbage dump or the like where the casings are to be finally deposited. A vacuum source creates a vacuum to pull the peeled casings through a conduit which extends from the peeling device, over the garbage dump or the like, and to the vacuum source. The apparatus is adapted to divert the peeled casings from moving through the conduit towards the vacuum source to falling from the conduit to the garbage dump or the like when the casings pass over the conduit.

  • Patent number: 4120221
Abstract: An arrangement for severing webs, particularly fabrics, of thermally severable materials includes a severing tool which is mounted on a support for displacement between an extended position and a retracted position thereof, being urged towards its extended position. The severing tool has a severing portion which is heated and which contacts and severs the web during the movement of the latter longitudinally of itself in a path past the support for the severing tool. A heat-conductive member is in heat-transmitting contact with the severing tool at the severing portion thereof in the extended position of the severing tool, the heat-transmitting relationship being interrupted when the resistance of the web to the severing action of the severing portion achieves such a value that the severing tool is displaced from its extended position toward its retracted position.

  • Patent number: 4116097
Abstract: Sheet cutting means, preferably of the fluid jet nozzle type, is programmed for predetermined X-Y operation on a workpiece supported on a series of taut, unidirectional, spaced wires arranged substantially as a planar bed. As the nozzle is shifted in an X-Y plane parallel to and above the work, a drain cup is correspondingly moved beneath the wire bed to receive the spent pressure fluid for recirculation or other disposition. A transfer means comprised of uniformly spaced belts is movable heightwise between the wires to convey all cut parts and scrap, collectively in unchanged relation, to an unload station when the nozzle and cup are out of the way. Preferably a television screen displays for an attendant at the unloading zone of the machine a replica of the cut work as pre-programmed to facilitate his identification and disposition of the different cut-outs, for instance, shoe soles.

  • Patent number: 4116469
Abstract: A combination payment and receipt form and method of using the same has a first top thin sheet with printed indicia areas that are filled in by the user. Transfer means are provided to transfer this information in a first predetermined color to a second bottom sheet of a size and thickness suitable for use as a postcard. The second lower card sheet has a background camouflage area printed in another predetermined color located in the area where the information is transferred, with the transferred information normally not readily distinguishable against the background pattern. The upper and lower sheets are then mailed to a second party who indicates an acknowledgment on the card sheet and returns the same as a postcard to the user. The user then views the returned card through a filter medium that freely transmits the other predetermined color and renders the information transferred in the first color darker than the background pattern.

  • Patent number: 4116096
Abstract: A strip cutter apparatus for rolled sheet formed of rubber and elastomeric materials, comprising a transport device for the rolled sheet and a plurality of disc-shaped cutters arranged transversely with respect to the transport direction of the material. The cutters cut the rolled sheet into individual strips. A revolving brush is driven in the direction of transport and is provided after the cutters, viewed in the direction of travel of the rolled sheet. This revolving brush is arranged in such a manner that its bristles penetrate into the intermediate spaces between the cutters and displace away from the sides of the cutters any material which possibly has been raised by the cutters.

  • Patent number: RE29795
Abstract: A self-contained unit to be attached to a power punch press to provide a feed for stock being fed to the press. The unit contains a direct drive from the punch press crankshaft to feed rolls which are located adjacent to the table of the press. A non-slip, positive, drive is provided from the crankshaft of the punch press to an index drive which receives continuous, uniform rotary motion and converts it into non-continuous, incremental movement of the index drive output shaft. A positive, non-slip drive is provided between the index drive output shaft and the power driven feed roll. The feed roll unit also contains a compressed air-operated cylinder arrangement to release the idler feed roll at a predetermined period during the punch press cycle so that the stock being fed to the press is free from the feed rolls during the pressing portion of the punch press operating cycle.
