  • Patent number: 10837723
Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling a firearm. Components embedded in a portion of the firearm enable the firearm to determine if a user of the firearm is authorized to do so, and either enable or disable a firing mechanism of the firearm accordingly. The firearm may also send communication signals regarding the status of the firearm or events detected by the firearm to a remote device controlled by an authorized user. The system may thereby notify the authorized user of attempted unauthorized use of the firearm, that the firearm has been left behind by the authorized user, or that the firearm is being tampered with. The system may also include multi-tag or a voice-override features that prevent the firearm from being used against the authorized user should the authorized user lose control of the firearm.

  • Patent number: 10823520
Abstract: A safety for a firearm has a blocking lever with an arresting lobe that engages a plunger. The arresting lobe and plunger are statically counterbalanced about a pivot axis by a counterbalance lobe on the blocking lever. The blocking lever is movable between a safe position, where it engages and prevents motion of a firing element, and a fire position, where it cannot engage the firing element. A cam, moved by the trigger, moves the plunger, which moves the blocking lever from the safe to the fire position to permit discharge of the firearm upon further pull of the trigger.

  • Patent number: 10823534
Abstract: A system and device for providing bullet proof protection to persons is described. A pre-staged shield, possibly wall mounted, that is capable of shielding the head and torso, for example, may be provided in a vulnerable facility. An optional and distinct alert system may be activated when the shield is removed from its location, whether seated on the wall, mount, or container such as a storage locker. Such alert system may be triggered by a switch, such as a pressure sensing seat in communication with a loudspeaker and alarm or monitoring system. When an alarm is activated, an optional distinct alert is sounded within the facility and the monitoring system may alert law enforcement and emergency first responders of the active shooter location. Such a shield and system may permit an unarmed, unprepared person to have the opportunity to shield themselves.

  • Patent number: 10815015
Abstract: Asteroid redirection and soft-landing systems are provided that use cosmic ray and muon-catalyzed micro-fusion. These systems include a micro-fusion propulsion system providing thrust for redirecting a small asteroid, as well as providing a particle cushion at a landing site for a soft-landing. The systems deploy deuterium-containing fuel material as a localized cloud interacting with incoming ambient cosmic rays to generate energetic fusion products. Dust or other particulate matter in the fuel material converts some cosmic rays into muons that also catalyze fusion. The fusion products provide thrusting upon the asteroid. The fusion products also aid deceleration of incoming asteroids to be mined for a soft landing upon a lunar or planetary surface.

  • Patent number: 10815014
Abstract: A collision-avoidance propulsion system and method for orbiting satellites and other spacecraft takes advantage of ambient cosmic rays in space to catalyze micro-fusion events via particle-target fusion and muon-catalyzed fusion processes, using the reaction products to produce thrust upon orbiting satellites and other spacecraft. A supply of deuterium-containing particle fuel material is propelled in a specified direction of the spacecraft in response to indication of a potential collision with another space object (e.g. orbiting debris). In one embodiment, this may be performed by propellant gas expelling the fuel material through conduits to specified ports on the exterior of the spacecraft. The propelled material interacts with the ambient cosmic rays and muon generated from those cosmic rays to induce micro-fusion. A portion of the energetic reaction products (e.g. alpha particles) are received upon the spacecraft to alter its trajectory in a manner that avoids the potential collision.
