  • Patent number: 11128782
Abstract: A method for detecting background color of a scanned document uses dynamic weights to adjust components of the L*a*b* color space. In accordance with one aspect of the disclosure, the L*a*b* values belonging to pixels within a block are applied to a series of thresholds. In response to the L*a*b* values meeting the thresholds, a given color pixel within the block is reclassified as being monochromatic. The weight values are dynamically updated based on at least one of the L*a*b* values of the given pixel. The thresholding is repeated for remaining pixels in the document. Using the classified pixels, an output document is generated where the background pixels are monochromatic. The output document is transmitted to a display device in communication with the server computer.

  • Patent number: 11080413
Abstract: A system for securely producing and using high-entropy security information, such as a password. The system includes a printer, a display device, and a generator computer that is connected to the printer and the display device. The generator computer generates the high-entropy set of characters, (e.g., password), and also generates a machine-readable representation of the high-entropy set of characters, (e.g., a barcode). The generator computer causes the printer to print the high-entropy set of characters and the machine-readable representation on paper, and then deletes the high-entropy set of characters and the machine-readable representation from the system. The high-entropy set of characters, (e.g., password), may be entered into a target computer by scanning the barcode on the paper using a barcode scanner connected to the target computer, which is significantly faster than, and eliminates the human error associated with, typing in a high-entropy set of characters.

  • Patent number: 11048987
Abstract: A control unit determines as a sheet center actual position a center position of a print sheet, and adjusts a center position of the image to be printed on the basis of a difference from the sheet center actual position. Further, the control unit prints a main scale image along a primary scanning direction on one face of a print sheet for a test chart, prints a vernier scale image along the primary scanning direction on the other face of the print sheet, determines a deviation between a reference center position of the print engine and a reference center position of the line sensor on the basis of a scale mark of the main scale image that agrees with a scale mark of the vernier scale image, and moves a center position of the image to be printed so as to reduce the determined deviation.
