Abstract: In a data providing server, whether or not specified compressed content data generated by means of a specified compression coding method corresponding to terminal identification information has been stored in a content database is detected, according to content specifying data transmitted from a portable dedicated terminal. If the specified compressed content data has been stored, the data providing server reads and transmits this to the portable dedicated terminal. And if the specified compressed content data has not been stored, the data providing server generates the specified compressed content data by means of the specified compression coding method, and transmits this to the portable dedicated terminal.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for providing a more seamless purchasing experience using a mobile device. The mobile device acquires data, such a barcode image, an image of an object or text, or audio data. A non-limiting example of a barcode is a Quick Response (QR) barcode. The acquired data is then used to obtain a network address of a payment website or webpage, which allows a user to make a purchase for a given product or service. The mobile device then launches the payment website or webpage. A user can enter into the mobile device, through the payment website or webpage, a supplemental ID used for authenticating the transaction.

Abstract: This disclosure describes, generally, methods and systems for providing consolidated self service IT asset management. The method includes displaying, on a display device of an IT asset management system, an IT asset management user interface (UI), logging in, by an IT assets custodian, to the IT assets management UI, and displaying, at the IT assets management UI, an aggregated view of all IT assets assigned to the IT asset custodian. The aggregated view of the IT assets is generated from a plurality of IT asset assignment sources. The method further includes providing, the IT asset custodian with the ability to management the assigned IT assets and accurately account for the asset according to its actual use.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for optimizing and reporting time spent by a user engaged in a session. The system first obtains data associated with a presentation of an item of content at a mobile device, the presentation being divided into multiple partitions. Based on the data, the system adjusts at least one respective length of time associated with the multiple partitions to yield at least one adjusted length of time, the at least one adjusted length of time reflecting estimated time of user engagement with content associated with at least one of the multiple partitions. The system then determines an amount of time spent by a user at the mobile device engaging in the presentation based on the at least one adjusted length of time and the multiple partitions.

Abstract: It has been discovered that a dynamic mixed media package with a mechanism for dynamic modification/update provides a media experience to users that exceeds the experience offered by individual media files. A dynamic mixed media package accommodates various types of media and allows for additional media and modifications of existing media. Additional media includes media generated by consumers, such as media derived from a seed media. A seed media is marked and assembled with supplemental media into a package. The seed media is marked to allow performance of various operations, such as identification of the seed media during the lifetime of the package and attribution when the seed media is incorporated into consumer generated derivative media.

Abstract: Provided are methods, apparatus and systems for the sale of digital content over a network. The disclosure herein discusses the recording of a broadcast of a digital data stream by a broadcast receiving device. A listener may select a particular digital data stream to purchase by selecting a content identifier associated with the digital data stream of interest at the recording device. Upon obtaining the selection, a purchase request message is transmitted to an intermediary communication device. The purchase request message includes at least the content identifier. After the transaction is completed at a transaction server, a purchase confirmation message including at least a digital rights management key associated with the digital data stream is returned to and received by the broadcast receiving device. Upon receipt, of the digital rights management key, the recorded digital data stream is released for reproduction.

Abstract: An electronic voting terminal includes: a display; a data input device; a biometric input device; a case having an open and a closed position, the case protecting the display, the input device, and the biometric input device in the closed position, the case making the display, input device and biometric input device accessible by the voter in the open position; a communications medium; a microprocessor to control the display, the data input device, the biometric input device, and the communications medium; and a power supply that accepts alternating current and provides direct current to the microprocessor The device utilizes the biometric input device to validate the identity of the voter, utilizes the data input device to receive the ballot from the voter, and utilizes the communications medium to transmit the ballot. A system for voting also includes a centralized computer and voter registration database.

Abstract: Networked authentication systems and methods are described including using a mobile network operator (MNO) agent in communication with an authentication system, a data storage, and a wireless handset via a network, the MNO agent configured to, receive a request for validated data denominations from the wireless handset via the network, generate data denomination corresponding to the requested denomination, retrieve, from the data storage, numbers of validator strings corresponding to the requested data denomination, wherein the validators are received from the authentication system prior to and/or after receiving the request, and append the corresponding number of validator strings to the requested data denominations.

Abstract: A user terminal is provided, including a communication interface unit which receives an application content at least part of which is encrypted, a storage unit which stores the received application content, a decryption unit which decrypts the application content, a user interface unit which receives a command to execute the application content, and a controlling unit which controls the decryption unit to install an application content stored in the storage unit in an encrypted state and decrypt the installed application content according to the execution command. Accordingly, an application, which is an executable content, may be downloaded and installed in a user terminal, and used and updated safely.

Abstract: A method for authorizing recurring transaction according to one embodiment includes receiving a defined payment amount associated with a user or entity. Additionally, the method includes receiving a first code associated with a first predetermined currency value, where the first code is also associated with the user or entity. Furthermore, the method includes verifying an availability of funds to pay the defined payment amount and authorizing payment of the defined payment amount if funds are available to pay the defined payment amount. Further still, the method includes generating a new code associated with a new predetermined currency value, and sending the new code to a sender of the defined payment amount.

Abstract: An interactive display system is described. The interactive display system comprises a display, a server and a wireless handset communicatively coupled to a wide area network. The system further comprises at least one transmitter configured to transmit a signal. The wireless handset is configured to receive a signal from the at least one transmitter and send signal strength information for the at least one transmitter to the server. The server is configured to determine whether the wireless handset is within a predefined viewing area of the display. The display is configured to present a content item when the wireless handset is within the predefined viewing area.

Abstract: An approach is provided to visually depict cohort data to a user. The approach includes receiving a cohort display request (e.g., from a user, etc.). In response to the request, the approach retrieves a plurality of cohort data records, with each of the cohort data records corresponding to a cohort selected from a group of cohorts. In this approach, the group of cohorts represent similar computer systems. The approach displays a set of graphic user interface (GUI) controls on a display device, with each of the GUI controls corresponds to one of the retrieved cohort data records. A user selection is received that corresponds to a selected one of the GUI controls. The system responds by executing a cohort action on the cohort corresponding to the selected GUI control.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an information processing system, an information processing apparatus and method, and a program in which the purchase of content can be facilitated. When a device to which content data is downloaded and a device for giving an instruction to purchase the content data are different, a purchase form for purchasing the content data is sent to the device for giving an instruction to purchase the content data. The user ID and password are input into the purchase form, and the device to which the content data is downloaded is determined by the user ID. If the device to which the content data is downloaded cannot be specified because the user registers a plurality of devices, a destination determination form for specifying the device to which the content data is downloaded is sent. The content data is then distributed to the device indicated in the destination determination form. The present invention is applicable to a server for executing processing concerning content data.

Abstract: A method and apparatus allows owners of electronic signs, such as retailers, real estate owners, other space owners, and content providers, such as advertisers, entertainment producers, event promoters, visual artists, and the general community to participate in an open content network, in which electronic signs are universally uniquely identified and then added to a network in a distributed fashion, after which content is selectively downloaded to the electronic signs. The times at which the content is presented are determined collaboratively by the owners of the electronic signs and the content providers. A mechanism that verifies whether the content is actually presented on the electronic signs is also disclosed.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing tokens for Digital Rights Management (DRM) in a terminal are provided. In the method, at least one token is acquired from a Rights Issuer (RI), and the token is moved to a Secure Removable Media (SRM) through a token move request message. The token can be shared by several terminals.

Abstract: A method, system and apparatus of relevant content to enhance a streaming media experience are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method includes selecting a media content from a content database having content of a plurality of artists and media labels based on a request of a user of a social community environment, automatically selecting a relevant content related to the media content from at least one of a user generated content library and a professional content library based on match between a meta-data associated with the media content and the relevant content, streaming the media content from a central server associated with the central content database to the user without requiring consideration of the user to access the media content, and displaying the relevant content to the user when the media content is being streamed.

These techniques may include receiving a request to conduct a transaction, as well as a one-time password and an identifier linked with a payment instrument. The identifier may or may not identify the linked payment instrument. In both instances, a transaction processing service may compare the received one-time password with a one-time password stored at or accessible by the transaction processing service. If the passwords match, the service may approve the transaction. Otherwise, the service may decline the transaction or implement one or more additional authorization procedures.

A license acquisition scheme indication method of the present invention collects access information of at least one content server issuing licenses required for playing right protected files, attempts access to the at least one content server in one of a direct license acquisition scheme and an indirect license acquisition scheme on the basis of the access information, and displays identities of the individual right protected files with available license acquisition schemes determined as a result of the access attempts.

Abstract: An authentication service to authenticate access requests over a Fiber Channel (FC) network is provided. An authentication request is generated by a client and is sent over the FC network to a server. The request can be a native FC message, such as a CT message. For example, authentication software can generate the native FC message. In another example, authentication software can send a UDP or TCP authentication request, and an application program interface (API) can translate the request into a native FC message, such as a CT message, and send the message over the FC network. In another example, the authentication request can be sent as an encapsulated IP over FC message. For example, an authentication client can communicate using UDP or TCP messages, and an HBA can encapsulate the messages as IP over FC and send the encapsulated messages over the FC network.
