  • Patent number: 6739215
Abstract: A cork extracting device includes a bifurcated body defining a pair of depending legs. Circumferentially spaced ribs project laterally from each leg to define guide surfaces for an extracted cork, the lower ends of the ribs defining two different-sized bottle neck seats. An oblong handle with an elastomeric covering is fixed to one end of a worm which extends through a collar in the upper end of the body and downwardly between the legs. Flexible and resilient fingers are cut from each leg and respectively carry foil cutters, the fingers being manually depressible to engage the cutters with a bottle neck foil for cutting the foil in response to rotation of the body about the bottle neck.

  • Patent number: 6736032
Abstract: A wire stripper capable of automatically grasping a coated wire, cutting the coating with cutters, rotating the cutters and stripping the cut coating away with only one electric motor. The wire stripper is provided with a reversible main spindle which is supported on a machine frame and allowed to slide crosswise so as to enable gripping operation of the grippers as well as nipping and cutting operation of the cutters. The main spindle is provided with a lead-screw shaft with which a nut block is coupled so that the lead-screw shaft advances by forward rotation of the main spindle to close the grippers and the cutters as well as to rotate the cutters. The nut block is then moved backward by the lead screw of the lead-screw shaft after the main spindle has stopped advancing and the cutters are then withdrawn to strip the cut coating away from the core.

  • Patent number: 6732615
Abstract: A multiple-size nut driver comprising a socket portion and a handle connected to the socket portion for rotating the socket portion. The socket portion includes a plurality of concentric hexagonal sockets slidably mounted along a longitudinal axis of the driver. Each of the sockets slide between a forward operative position and a rearward retracted position. The handle includes a socket selector mounted behind the plurality of concentric hexagonal sockets. The socket selector holds a selected socket in the forward operative position while allowing unselected sockets to retract to the rearward retracted position. The selected socket is then placed over a nut, and turns the nut when the socket portion is rotated by the handle. Alternatively, the driver automatically selects the proper socket for a given nut by allowing sockets smaller than the nut to be retracted by the nut while the proper size socket and larger remain extended.

  • Patent number: 6729510
Abstract: The hand protection device protects the fingers of a hand used to hold a workpiece while a second hand operates a sharp instrument to cut or stab the workpiece. The device forms a shield composed of a thin sheet of material having a width adapted to extend across all four fingers of the hand, and a height adapted to extend for approximately the length of the distal two phalanges and a portion of the proximal phalange. The top portion of the shield is bent or curved to form a lip over the interphalangeal joint between the first (proximal) and second (middle) rows of phalanges. The bottom portion of the shield is bent or curved at about a 45° angle to protect the third (distal) row of phalanges. The device includes a hollow, substantially cylindrical holder for receiving the middle phalange of one finger.

  • Patent number: 6726068
Abstract: A finger protective device constructed from elastomeric materials. A working surface covers the fleshy portion of a finger and is of sufficient strength and hardness to avoid penetration by a needle, yet elastomeric to accommodate large variations in shape. The working surface may be interrupted by ribs or protrusions to prevent needle slippage. A compliant member surrounds the remainder of the finger and is softer in order to comply with the majority of finger shape variations. The thimble thus formed is designed to conform to the shape of a finger and remain adhered by frictional means to provide comfortable protection.

  • Patent number: 6722538
Abstract: An adjustable clothing hanger is a clothes hanger that is adjustable in size. Each side of the hanger has an adjustment mechanism, thus allowing for a variable width. The adjustment mechanism consists of a series of spring loaded pushbuttons (or snap fasteners) on a smaller diameter tube that engages a series of orifices or apertures on a larger diameter tube. It allows for the hanging of larger sized shirts, blouses, jackets, coats and the like without allowing the shoulder sections to sag. The adjustable clothing hanger also provides a swivel joint near the hook of the hanger where it joins the horizontal section. This joint allows the hanger to swivel in the closet and allows the hanger to be at any angle to the closet rod versus the perpendicular manner as required of conventional hangers.

  • Patent number: 6719177
Abstract: A method for longitudinal orientation of tubular knitted elements such as socks (2), knee socks or the like, wherein a stretching step of the sock (2) is provided in a duct (3) of orientation with its two ends aligned longitudinally. Then, the position of an end that is either a tip portion (2′) or a band portion is detected by means of sensors (13). At the detecting step the sock (2) is conveyed in the duct (3) in a direction according to which the position is known of the band portion with respect to the tip portion (2′), whereby before the introduction of the sock (2) in a loading duct (3) a step is provided of inversion of the sock (2) if the band portion is not oriented in the chosen direction, or a step of rejection. The sock (2) is selectively conveyed in the duct (3) by an air flow in either direction. Also the preliminary stretching step of the sock (2) is carried out by an air flow after preliminary grasping first end thereof, whereby the second end engages the sensors.
