  • Patent number: 7195504
Abstract: A high-pressure connector for an electrical power cable segment having a central stranded conductor encased in a polymeric insulation jacket with an interstitial void volume in the region of the conductor. The connector confines a fluid within the interstitial void volume at a residual pressure above atmospheric, but below the elastic limit of the insulation jacket. A housing interior chamber receives the conductor in fluid communication with the interstitial void volume. Some embodiments have the chamber sized to receive and overlap a portion of the insulation jacket with a housing end portion swaged thereto. A seal seals the insulation jacket with respect to the housing and a retaining member secures the cable segment to the housing to prevent pushback of the insulation jacket at the residual pressure.

  • Patent number: 7189079
Abstract: Multiple small conductive and flexible hollow rings, each of which is made from a pliable material, provide a flexible connection medium for use between a substrate and a microelectronic device package. Each ring is soldered to both the substrate and the device and held in place during manufacture by way of a flexible non-conductive film in which H-shaped cutouts are formed and into which a conductive ring is inserted. The interior sections of the H-shaped cutouts extend into the conductive rings and hold the rings in place during manufacture. A portion of the sidewall of each ring is not soldered thus insuring that at least part of the ring stays flexible. The rings accommodate elevation differences on a substrate and electronic device package. They also provide a vibration resistant and flexible joint.

  • Patent number: 7182649
Abstract: A network cable jack includes a printed circuit board (PCB) for balancing both inductive and capacitive coupling. Using a PCB allows compact trace paths to be formed without significantly increasing manufacturing costs. By including on each trace path two distinct inductance zones separated by a neutral zone, significant gains in degrees of freedom are achieved for designing PCB trace patterns in which a pair of inductive coupling zones jointly offset the inductive coupling caused by a specification plug and the jack contacts, both in magnitude and phase angle. Further, using distinct inductance zones offers more freedom regarding the placement of capacitive plates for use in capacitance balancing as well as the placement of terminals and insulation displacement contacts. Although the magnitude of a capacitive coupling is determined by the length of the capacitor plates parallel to current carrying traces, the approach allows capacitive and inductive coupling to be balanced independently.

  • Patent number: 7175470
Abstract: A plug-in unit assembly comprising a case (1) and a plug-in unit (2) arranged to be attached thereto, and locking means (4, 5) having a locked position and an unlocked position. The plug-in unit (2) comprises handle means (3) pivoted to turn around a pivoting axis (9). The handle means (3) have a normal position and an unlocking position for the locking means (4, 5), the turning of the handle means (3) to the unlocking position of the locking means resulting in the locking means (4, 5) moving into the unlocked position. The handle means (3) also have a detaching position for the plug-in unit, whereby turning the handle means (3) from the unlocking position of the locking means to the detaching position froth plug-in unit makes the plug-in unit (2) move a predetermined distance (D) outwards from the case (1).
