  • Patent number: 10817062
Abstract: Electronic devices may use touch pads that have touch sensor arrays, force sensors, and actuators for providing tactile feedback. A touch pad may be mounted in a computer housing. The touch pad may have a rectangular planar touch pad member that has a glass layer covered with ink and contains a capacitive touch sensor array. Force sensors may be mounted under each of the four corners of the rectangular planar touch pad member. The force sensors may be used to measure how much force is applied to the surface of the planar touch pad member by a user. Processed force sensor signals may indicate the presence of button activity such as press and release events. In response to detected button activity or other activity in the device, actuator drive signals may be generated for controlling the actuator. The user may supply settings to adjust signal processing and tactile feedback parameters.

  • Patent number: 10797786
Abstract: Method for determining high-throughput-satellite (HTS) system user downlink signal-to-noise-plus-interference ratios (SNIRs) and SNIR distributions is provided, including a procedure for estimating parameters of one spot beam and that for multiple co-color spot beams, and the projection of the satellite antenna radiation patterns onto Earth to form the spot beam power spatial distributions that lead to the SNIRs and SNIR distributions of stationary or mobile user terminals (UTs) in clear sky (CS) line-of-sight (LOS) propagation channel conditions. The estimation precision is controllable. The method is implemented in a programming language run on computational hardware with built-in or connected user interface (UI) devices including desktops, laptops, severs or super-computers. • Patent number: 10782524
Abstract: This integrated skydiving safety/training system combines sensors, hardware and software technologies to improve skydiving for individuals and teams of 12 or more military or civilian skydivers. It dramatically improves skydivers' training and helps prevent the leading causes of skydiving deaths, including mid-air collisions and dangerous landings. The system offers innovative error-correction on low-cost trackers to collect flight data to improve debriefings after jumps for planeloads of jumpers and create an expert proprietary flight database with hundreds of jumps. This can be used for debriefings/accident investigations which can be done in minutes, where before it took months to analyze accidents. It plots this data into 3D Interactive Maps and the real-time radio version can track teams in the air or on the ground, and museums can use the interactive mapping option to display stunning tours of the earth and moon.

  • Patent number: 10780905
Abstract: A method of determining the geographical position of a rail vehicle travelling on a defined route that has a number of known stopping locations separated by known distances. The method comprises steps of: recording a linear speed signal of the vehicle; processing the linear speed signal to identify a plurality of preceding stationary periods when linear speed equals zero, including a last stationary period, and to calculate the distance traveled between the plurality of preceding stationary periods; comparing the calculated distances with the known distances between stopping locations, to match the last identified stationary period to a corresponding one of the known stopping locations and identify the direction of travel of the rail vehicle; and determining the geographical position of the rail vehicle by processing a portion of the speed signal obtained since the last identified stationary period, to calculate the distance traveled from the corresponding stopping location.

  • Patent number: 10769447
Abstract: Stimulation of sensors comprising an orthogonal x-y array, by abrupt edges or events, emits pulses that converge at nodes in serial two-dimensional (2D) arrays, which reemit rapidly if input pulses are in temporal synchrony. By gating sensors at a frequency with a wavelength between emitted pulses equal to the spatial interval between serial surfaces, identical pulses synchronize, or impedance match, repetitively at the serially repeated arrays. The pulses impedance match stimulated edges or events, as emitted one-dimensional (1D) z locations, continuously through aligned nodes in the serial 2D arrays, so that distal nodes that latently converge identical 1D z pulses become synchronous in time. This dimensional reduction of 2D arrays with synchronized 1D pulses, is a process that eliminates the coding, transmittal and decoding of information to reconstruct a 2D sensory pattern.

  • Patent number: 10761210
Abstract: Systems and methods for determining ranges to a target disposed behind a transparent surface are described. A target acquisition system receives a plurality of lidar returns, at least some of which are from a target and at least some of which are from a transparent surface. The lidar returns correspond to a portion of a lidar signal generated by a lidar, directed toward the target, and reflected back to the lidar from either the target or the transparent surface. A range measurement for each of the plurality of lidar returns is determined. The target acquisition system generates a histogram of the range measurements. The histogram includes an array including a plurality of range bins. Each range bin defines a unique portion of a predetermined distance out from the lidar. The histogram further includes a count associated with each respective range bin.

  • Patent number: 10748558
Abstract: The presently disclosed technology teaches integrating disc drive electronics into a transducer head. Decreased electrical transit times and data processing times can be achieved by placing the electronics on or within the transducer head because electrical connections may be made physically shorter than in conventional systems. The electronics may include one or more of a control system circuit, a write driver, and/or a data buffer. The control system circuit generates a modified clock signal that has a fixed relation to phase and frequency of a bit-detected reference signal that corresponds to positions of patterned bits on the disc. The write driver writes outgoing data bits received from an external connection to off-head electronics directly to the writer synchronized with the modified clock signal. The data buffer stores and converts digital data bits sent from the off-head electronics to an analog signal that is synchronized with the modified clock signal.
