Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving, over a communication network, a plurality of requests for frames of video content to provide to a mobile device. Further embodiments can include determining a first portion of the plurality of requests are for pre-fetch frames of the video content, and providing, over the communication network, the pre-fetch frames to the mobile device over a default bearer path. Additional embodiments can include determining a second portion of the plurality of requests are for emergent frames of the video content, and providing, over the communication network, the emergent frames to the mobile device over a dedicated bearer path. Abstract: A set-top box for changing channels and method for use of the same are disclosed. In one embodiment, the set-top box includes a network interface controller that is configured to receive a source internet protocol television signal, which includes two channels, from an external source and at least partially prepare the source internet protocol signal in order to forward the tuned signal to a television. The set-top box saves in a buffer the at least partially prepared second channel beginning at a recent periodic, sequential signal access point. In response to receiving a channel change instruction when the set-top box is forwarding the at least partially prepared first channel signal, the set-top box causes the television tuner to forward the at least partially prepared signal based on the second channel stored in the buffer beginning at the recent periodic, sequential signal access point.

Abstract: A method includes receiving, at a mobile device, survey data comprising real-time survey user input associated with watching a video program and survey audio from the video program, the survey audio being recorded via a microphone of the user mobile device during the real-time survey, transmitting, to a network server, the survey data as part of a data package, wherein the network server receives an audio file associated with the video program, compares the audio file with the survey audio to yield a comparison and aligns, based on the comparison, the survey audio with the audio file to yield a modified data package and receiving a confirmation of a creation of the modified data package.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, obtaining, over a first mobile network, first media content from a media content server, and detecting a travel route associated with the communication device. Further embodiments can include identifying a group of mobile networks associated with the travel route in which the group of mobile networks comprise the first mobile network. Additional embodiments can include determining a network condition associated with a second mobile network of the group of mobile networks, and identifying a portion of the travel route associated with the network condition. Also, embodiments can include adjusting the obtaining of the first media content from the media content server according to the network condition. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method includes accessing a high dynamic range (HDR) media content item. Statistical analysis is performed to determine statistical information associated with the HDR media content item at each incremental portion of the HDR media content item. Metadata for each incremental portion of the HDR media content item is generated. A standard dynamic range (SDR) version of the content is derived using the HDR metadata. The metadata and an SDR version of the HDR media content item is transmitted to a storage service. The metadata and the SDR version are caused to be received at a display device. The SDR version is converted to HDR with a dynamic range bounded based on the metadata.

Abstract: A method for transmitting, by a media-providing server, on-demand content related to commerce content to a set-top box includes receiving a first on-demand request signal for the on-demand content from the set-top box and transmitting the first on-demand request signal to a data server, by the media-providing server, in response to the first on-demand request signal, generating an on-demand call request signal including a product code of the commerce content and a user code of the set-top box and transmitting the on-demand call request signal to an on-demand ARS server, by the data server; receiving process status information on the on-demand call request signal from the on-demand ARS server and transmitting a message corresponding to the process status information to a user terminal corresponding to the first on-demand request signal, by the data server.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for temporarily granting access to a digital gateway. One example method includes receiving a request for temporary access to the digital gateway. A temporary access token is generated at a server. The temporary access token is assigned to a user. Access to the digital gateway is granted via the temporary access token. The temporary access token is automatically expired after a pre-set period. Access to the digital gateway is revoked once the temporary access token has expired.

Abstract: An embodiment of the invention simplifies management of the “video lifecycle”. An embodiment includes one of more modules that streamline the video publishing process by abstracting technical steps such as video publishing, updating video, unpublishing video, retrieval or statistics concerning video, authorization to process video, validation of video, video metadata processing, video transcoding, and/or video transmission. Other embodiments are described herein.

Abstract: Approaches are described for providing quality of experience (QoE) driven in-transport communications services. For example, in-transit communications services are provided over a network to content consumption devices on one or more transport craft. During a measurement window, delivery of the in-transit communications services can be measured to obtain network-level delivery (NLD) measurements, and consumption of the in-transit communications services by one or more of the content consumption devices can be measured to obtain customer-level consumption (CLC) measurements. The NLD and CLC measurements can be used to compute a QoE score that indicates a delivered quality of service as perceived by one or more passengers of the one or more transport craft. The QoE score can be used to update stored service level data. The update can cause generation of one or more service level triggers, which can trigger automatic remedial action to address QoE-related conditions.

Abstract: A method for providing captured video to a subsequent user device, via a desired video host, including at least some of allowing a user to designate, via a mobile device, at least one desired video host; allowing the subsequent user, via the subsequent user device, to be associated with the at least one desired video host; allowing the user to capture video, via the mobile device, and upload or stream the captured video to the desired video host device(s), wherein the captured video includes at least one categorization for the captured video, as designated by the user prior to capturing the video; and allowing the subsequent user to access, via the subsequent user device, the captured video, via the video host device associated with the at least one desired video host, wherein the captured video is accessed, based on the at least one categorization for the captured video.

Abstract: A method and a system relates to a cellular-network assisted Pay-Per-View (PPV). An issue arises in reconciling PPV purchase balance data when a Set-top Box (STB) lacks a communication link to the PPV headend server. The present disclosure addresses the issue by using a mobile computing device for delivering the PPV balance data from the STB to the PPV headend server over a cellular-network. The mobile computing device receives the PPV balance data from the Conditional Access Module (CAM) on STB through near-field communications. The mobile computing device, when it is moved to inside a service coverage area of a cellular or Wi-Fi-network, transmits the PPV balance data to the PPV headend server. The PPV headend server updates the PPV balance data and transmits the updated PPV balance data to the CAM on STB via the satellite broadcasting network.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for generating for display depictions of tournament-style competitions restricting user's access to any content that may spoil the results of the tournament. A user may request to view a display that contains a tournament and participating competitors. Requests may be received from users to view recordings of tournament competitions or a results display with the tournament bracket displayed. The media guidance application may access recorded versions of competitions front internal and external directories. Furthermore, the media guidance application may compare user viewing progress data and competitor progress data to ensure the user does not prematurely view results of any competitions of interest to the user. If the media guidance application determines a user's progress is less than the progress of the user's favorite team, visual representations of the competitions that may spoil the outcome of the user's favorite team's competition may be blacked out.

Abstract: A video library interface provides a listing of interactive videos and information associated with the videos and is dynamically updated as a user views the videos and makes decisions that affect the playback of the episodes. More specifically, an interactive video that includes different traversable video paths is provided to and interacted with by a user. Based on user interactions received during presentation of the video, different video paths within the interactive video are traversed. In addition, a video library display including a visual depiction of information associated with a plurality of videos is provided. The video library display is dynamically modified based on one or more interactions made by the user with respect to the interactive video.

The first message includes an identifier of a key used to verify a signature of the message to be transmitted and signed and an identifier of a hash algorithm used to calculate a hash value of the message to be transmitted and signed.
