  • Patent number: 8567891
Abstract: The present invention provides a recording apparatus including recording heads each including a plurality of nozzle arrays that are arranged so as to overlap, wherein the width with which the overlapping portions of the recording heads for colors that are simultaneously used with a relatively high frequency overlap in an intersecting direction that intersects an array direction of nozzles is smaller than the width with which the overlapping portions of the recording heads for colors that are simultaneously used with a relatively low frequency overlap in the intersecting direction.

  • Patent number: 8562090
Abstract: A method for controlling an image forming apparatus including a head having a nozzle for discharging a liquid droplet; a sub-tank for temporarily storing the liquid supplied to the head; a main tank for storing the liquid; a pump capable of forwardly sending the liquid from the main tank to the sub-tank and reversely sending the liquid from the sub-tank to the main tank; and a sensor for sensing a pressure in the sub-tank is provided. In the method, before sending the liquid forwardly or reversely to achieve a target negative pressure in the sub-tank, a pressure sensing function of the sensor is checked by sending the liquid with the pressure in the sub-tank being at a negative pressure range in which a meniscus of the liquid is maintained. When the pressure sensing function is determined abnormal, a control is performed not to send the liquid by the pump.

  • Patent number: 8425025
Abstract: A sub tank receives ink supplied from a main tank through a supply path. The sub tank includes a supply chamber that causes the ink to move toward a nozzle, and a pressure control chamber connected to the supply chamber through a connection part that can open/close. The pressure control chamber includes a pressure resistor that reduces the speed of the ink when the ink pressure rises in the supply path, and a volume changing member that is provided on at least a side of the connection part with respect to the pressure resistor in the ink flow direction, so that pressure in the pressure control chamber can be reduced by reducing the ink speed and increasing the volume of the pressure control chamber.
