  • Patent number: 10378341
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for evaluating proper cement installation in a well are provided. In one example, a method includes receiving acoustic cement evaluation data having a first parameterization. At least a portion of the entire acoustic cement evaluation data may be corrected to account for errors in the first parameterization, thereby obtaining corrected acoustic cement evaluation data. This corrected acoustic cement evaluation data may be processed with an initial solid-liquid-gas model before performing a posteriori refinement of the initial solid-liquid-gas model, thereby obtaining a refined solid-liquid-gas model. A well log track-indicating whether a material behind the casing is a solid, liquid, or gas—may be generated by processing the corrected acoustic cement evaluation data using the refined solid-liquid-gas model.

Abstract: A method, system and computer program for determining the orientation of an apparatus relative to a vehicle in which the apparatus is installed is disclosed. Acceleration data of the apparatus along three mutually orthogonal axes at a first time interval is recorded (100). Speed and heading data of the apparatus at a second time interval is recorded (100). A first vector which corresponds to the direction of gravity is determined (102) using the acceleration data. One or more periods of acceleration in a substantially straight line are identified (104) using the speed and heading data. Acceleration data corresponding to the identified one or more periods of acceleration in a substantially straight line is selected (106). A second vector which is orthogonal to the first vector and which corresponds to a forward direction of the vehicle is determined (110) using the selected acceleration data.

  • Patent number: 10309807
Abstract: The present invention relates to resolver calibration for permanent magnet synchronous motor. According to embodiments of the present invention, the high frequency rotating voltage vector is generated and injected into a resolver associated with a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). Due to the saliency effect, when a reference point is detected in a phase current, the rotor position of the PMSM is known. At this point, by acquiring the resolver position, the resolver offset may be accurately determined for calibration. According to embodiments of the present invention, the resolver offset may be accurately determined and calibrated without increasing device dimension and cost. Respective methods, apparatuses, systems, and computer products are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10295522
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for operating a downhole tool within a wellbore adjacent a subterranean formation to pump contaminated fluid from the formation into the downhole tool while measuring first and second fluid properties of the contaminated fluid. The contaminated fluid comprises native fluid from the formation and a contaminant. The downhole tool is in communication with surface equipment located at surface. The downhole tool and/or surface equipment is operated to estimate a formation volume factor of the contaminated fluid based on at least one of the first and second fluid properties of the contaminated fluid. A linear relationship is then estimated between the first fluid property and a function that relates the first fluid property to the second fluid property and the estimated formation volume factor of the contaminated fluid. A fluid property of the contaminant is then estimated based on the estimated linear relationship.
