  • Patent number: 5174268
Abstract: Eccentric wheels of a compound archery bow are mounted in respective bow limb receiving slots for pivotal movement between a rest draw angular position and a full draw angular position. Each wheel pivot axis extends transversely across the respective wheel receiving slot and is spaced an effective preset slot depth distance A from the respective slot root. Each wheel has a bowstring portion with a peripheral bowstring track formed therein for receiving a section of a bowstring. The peripheral bowstring track has a progressively increasing moment arm radius relative to the respective pivot axis from a rest draw segment to a full draw segment. The moment arm radius from the pivot axis to the full draw segment of the bowstring portion is greater than the effective slot depth distance A to extend the effective length of the respective flexible power limb at the full draw angular position by a distance greater than the slot depth.

  • Patent number: 5172768
Abstract: The process serves for the loosening of soil in the subsoil and topsoil areas and for introduction of fertilizers as well as subsoil loosening and/or for soil cultivation as well as the introduction of other additives with the use of digging tools 2, 2', and 2" by which the soil is broken up. In this case, the digging edge of digging tool 2, 2', and 2" is guided in an elliptical motion and this motion is superimposed by a straight motion, i.e., the driving motion. A cycloid is therefore produced for the digging edge. The longer axis of the ellipse in this case is directed from the soil surface into the soil in this manner and exhibits an angle to the travel direction. The additive, such as, for example, fertilizers, can be blown into the fissure forming behind tool 2.

  • Patent number: 5170772
Abstract: A caliper-jaws type release which includes a cam-shaped pin for pivotally holding one of two opposing jaws in the release holder. The cam-shaped pin has a head portion, an eccentric middle portion of smaller diameter than the head portion and a concentric end portion of smaller diameter than the middle portion. The head portion has a recess in its top surface for receiving a lever having a complimentary projection. Inserting the lever into the complimentary recess permits the cam-shaped pin to be rotated. The eccentric portion pivotally engages the jaw. Rotating the cam-shaped pin with the lever causes the jaw to change position relative to the opposing jaw.

  • Patent number: 5168936
Abstract: A trailing harrow attachment is pivotally connected to the aft end of support arms for rotation about a transverse axis between a field-working position wherein the harrow tines engage the soil, and a non-operative position wherein the harrow is rotated about the axis by approximately 180.degree. so that the tines extend away from the ground to provide better trash flow and ground clearance. The angles that attach the harrow to the trailing arms include apertures located an equal distance radially outwardly on opposite sides of the axis so that the harrow may be pinned at the same location on one of the support arms in either the field-working or the non-operative position.

  • Patent number: 5165487
Abstract: The point is adapted to fit onto the forwardly projecting mounting wedge of a tillage shank and has a downwardly and forwardly inclined, elongated crown provided with a transverse, sharpened tip at its lower front end. An underslung transverse wall looped under the crown at the front end of the point defines a rearwardly opening socket that matingly receives the apex of the mounting wedge of the shank, and depending sidewalls on the crown adjacent its opposite lateral edges rearwardly of the underslung wall serve to present a protective trough on the underside of the crown that matingly receives the upper surface of the mounting wedge so as to protectively cover otherwise exposed side portions of the wedge and thus shield such areas from exposure of abrasive soils.

  • Patent number: 5163518
Abstract: A plurality of parallel arm type openers are mounted on a frame tube, and a rockshaft is supported directly below the tube. Adjacent each of the openers, a lever arm is fixed for rotation with the rockshaft and, upon rotation of the rockshaft in a first direction, the lever arm engages the parallel arms to lift the opener while the frame tube remains stationary in the vertical direction. A tension spring assembly connected between the parallel arms and the lever arm applies varying down force when the opener is lowered by rotating the rockshaft in the opposite direction. The amount of down pressure can be adjusted for varying conditions by rotation of the rockshaft, and adjustment can be made on-the-go from the tractor cab to compensate for changing ground conditions in a given field. Locking structure on the row units permits selective lock-up of row units with a single cycle of the hydraulic lift system.

  • Patent number: 5156216
Abstract: A conservation tillage tool including a frame disposed to support a number of soil working implements in sequence. The frame is supported by ground wheels attached to the rear section of the frame. The wheels are movable with respect to the rear section of the frame to move the frame between a raised transport position and a number of lowered working positions. A hitch attached to a tractor supports the front section of the frame, and a pivotally attached tongue interconnects the front section and the hitch. A leveling mechanism interconnects the rear section, the front section and the pivotally attached tongue. The leveling mechanism is a four-bar linkage that applies a force at the pivotal connection of the tongue to the front section as the wheels move to raise or lower the rear section thereby maintaining the frame substantially level with respect to the ground.
