  • Patent number: 4117964
Abstract: A car top carrier assembly which is characterized by a light weight carrier container with an overall rectangular solid configuration, having its edges and corners radiused between all intersections of planar surfaces. The container has no internal frame, but rather the frame itself is comprised of a horizontal deck member, vertical corner support members, and horizontal edge supports, with the planar top and side portions being simple rectangular pieces of sheet material which are flangedly connected onto the corner and edge supports to define the overall container. The car top carrier is mounted upon a car top through a pair of contracting support tubes, which exert a contractive force proximate the edges of a car top, while inherently locating the superposed container in a fixed position as a consequence of the engaging step.

Abstract: A sheath for a knife with a dead blade such as a hunting knife, a Bowie knife or the like comprises a quiver, a suspender attached to the quiver and serving to push the sheath onto a body belt, and an annular retainer pivotted to the suspender, capable of being pushed over the handle of the knife and serving to secure the knife in the quiver. The suspender of the sheath in the proximity of its lower end has an edged recess extending across the width of the suspender and a tongue adjacent thereto. The tongue is bevelled and defines the lower end of the suspender. The quiver of the sheath at the rear side has an edged U-shaped bridge integral with the quiver. The bridge is arrested with its web in the recess of the suspender. The suspender has an elongate hole extending from its one narrow side to the other narrow side. The rear side wall of said hole is made a resilient arm by a transverse slot. The annular holder is clipped into a semi-cylindrical bearing disposed at the suspender.

  • Patent number: 4114788
Abstract: Apparatus to be utilized with backpack equipment to support counter-balancing loads adjacent the chest of the user. A backpack and frame apparatus is adapted with the front load carrying apparatus. A pair of front load carriers are pivotally journeled to the backpack frame, the front load carriers extending substantially perpendicular to the backpack frame and lying on the opposite side of the frame as the backpack. The front load carriers are adapted to be adjacent the chest of the user and to be secured to one another once the pack has been mounted. The pivotal couplings between the front load carrier and the pack frame allow the front load carriers to encompass the girth of the user and to be alternately opened to provide the user easy means for mounting or removing the pack. When the pack and frame are mounted upon the user, the front load carriers are joined to one another at the front of the user, load carrying containers being affixed to the front load carriers.

  • Patent number: 4098441
Abstract: A sling intended primarily as a temporary expedient may be instantly attached to a firearm and slipped over the user's shoulder for transport of the firearm in that manner. The sling is of essentially one-piece construction, comprising basically a ribbon of flexible material such as woven nylon fabric that has a series of eyelets at one end thereof and a socket at the opposite end thereof. After a selected one of the eyelets has been slipped over the projecting end of the barrel and drawn down against the stock, the socket may be slipped onto the butt of the firearm to complete attachment and ready the firearm for over-the-shoulder transport. The complete absence of fasteners, buckles, clamps and swivels facilitates rapid attachment and detachment, and the sling may be coiled into a compact spiral or otherwise compactly folded for storage in a convenient pocket of the user.
