  • Patent number: 10592534
Abstract: An electronic device is configured with a social contact group aggregation system that operates to identify similar groups of contacts that are associated with different social applications and aggregate those groups into a single, unified group with which the device user may interact. When the device user uses a social application to create or import a new group of social contacts, the aggregation system can apply one or more of various aggregation factors to determine if the new group matches a pre-existing group and then aggregate the new group into the existing group if a match is identified. The aggregation factors illustratively include the similarity of names between the new and an existing group, the degree to which social contacts in the groups are already linked, the similarity of profile information among members of the groups, and other associative factors.

  • Patent number: 10579601
Abstract: An event historian system stores an event data dictionary. The system receives an initial query from a client device on a network connection and responds by providing the event data dictionary information to the client device. The client device sends another query requesting data values which are defined in the event data dictionary. The system responds to the second query by sending results comprising the requested data values to the client system over the network connection.

  • Patent number: 10572557
Abstract: An approach to finding facets of big data across multiple subject fields which have mutual relevance and provide useful information and insights. The approach is based on an analysis of diagrams associated with facets found in big data, such as that available on the internet, and the results of the analysis are further refined through a regional analysis and a search of social media data for events pertaining to the facets. Embodiments can further make use of statistical analysis software to provide statistical evidence related to the facets that can validate the results and findings of facet relevancy.

  • Patent number: 10558528
Abstract: A determination is made as to whether one of a system definition file data set and a catalog data set is unavailable for orderly restart of an information system. The system definition file data set provides resource definition information for the information system and the catalog data set provides resource state information for the information system. A determination is made that the other of the system definition file data set and the catalog data set is available. The unavailable one of the system definition file data set and the catalog data set is reconstructed by rebuilding the system resource definition and state information used by the unavailable one of the system definition file data set and the catalog data set using system resource information within the other available one of the system definition file data set and the catalog data set.

  • Patent number: 10546059
Abstract: A media guidance application may determine how long to modify user profiles based on real-life events. For example, in order to keep user profiles up-to-date (e.g., to reflect temporary changes to the tastes of a user), the media guidance application may temporarily change the criteria for recommending content based on real-life events.

  • Patent number: 10534749
Abstract: A snapshot analysis system analyzes a plurality of data snapshots taken in connection with data stored on a block device allocated by a data storage system. The snapshot analysis system may include an ingestor capable of initially detecting new snapshots and adding a root node for the snapshots. The system may include a block device analyzer that analyzes each snapshot to determine its contents, the relationship within data structures extant within the snapshot, and the snapshot's relationship to other snapshots and/or that of other block devices. The system may also include a clustering analyzer capable of determining whether snapshots are associated with multipart block devices, such as LVM or MD-RAID devices. The system may further include a block device emulator that exposes data associated with a given snapshot as an addressable block device without necessitating retrieval or exposure of the full block device to which the snapshot is associated.

  • Patent number: 10534763
Abstract: A computer-implemented method, computer program product and system for data sampling in a storage system. The storage system includes a dataset comprising records and a buffer. The dataset is scanned record-by-record to determine whether the current record belongs to a random sample. If so, then the current record may be added to a first set of records. Otherwise, at least one storage score may be calculated or determined for the current record using attribute values of the current record. Next, it may be determined whether the buffer includes available size for storing the current record. In case the buffer comprises the available size, the current record may be stored in the buffer. Otherwise, at least part of the buffer may be free up. A subsample of the dataset may be provided as a result of merging the first set of records and at least part of the buffered records.

  • Patent number: 10509779
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to a self-cleaning token vault for managing tokens generated on behalf of a resource provider. The generated tokens may be stored at the token vault. Embodiments provide a token manager (which can be embodied in the token vault or provided as a separate module) that continuously monitor the token vault for expired or redundant tokens. The token manager may enable the resource provider to assign level flags to the tokens and assign level values to the level flags. The level value may indicate an importance or a use characteristic of the token. Upon identifying tokens that are no longer necessary, the self-cleaning token vault or the token manager may automatically remove the tokens from the token vault.

  • Patent number: 10489349
Abstract: Files and folders on a read-only shared layer may be protected by using a read-write layer. File system level hooks are added to capture and simulate the rename and delete operation that would otherwise corrupt or destroy files and folders on a read-only layer. Each read-write layer has an associated file system metadata cache that gives an overview of the data contained by the layer. Relevant metadata is added for the metadata entry associated with a file or folder subjected to a rename or delete operation so as to track the file system operations associated with the file or folder. One or more metadata flags may be used to assist in tracking the file system operations.

  • Patent number: 10474697
Abstract: An update to a partitioning column for a partitioned table in a database can be performed by handling rows for which the update will not require moving to a different partition separately (e.g. “locally”) for each partition followed by re-inserting those rows that will require moving to a different partition and deleting them from the original partition. The re-inserted rows are directed to a correct partition by application of the partitioning criteria for the table. Methods, articles, and systems are described.

  • Patent number: 10467289
Abstract: Content items may be segmented and labeled by a theme to provide information, such as audio or video, with greater functionality, accuracy and speed. The segments and other related information may be stored and made accessible to users through, for example, a search service and/or an on-demand service. Also provided is automatic segmentation that may include any one of receiving a textual description of a content item, determining themes within the textual description, determining relevance intervals corresponding to terms of the theme, filtering and/or merging the relevance intervals, and determining a total interval for each theme that represents one or more contextually-coherent segments of the content item.

  • Patent number: 10467269
Abstract: A search system includes a query processing device for processing a search query and a search server. The search server receives a search request with a search query and sends the search query to the query processing device via an application programming interface (API). Upon sending the search query to the query processing device, the search server determines whether an indication is received from the query processing device, the indication indicates that the search query does not trigger category-specific search results. In response to determining that the indication has not been received: the search server waits to receive the category-specific search results that correspond with the search query. The search server aggregates the category-specific search results with the general purpose search results, and transmits the aggregated search results. In response to determining that that indication has been received, the search server generates and transmits the general purpose search results.
