  • Patent number: 7056586
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for manufacturing a laminated glazing unit including of at least two transparent panes, one of which is provided on its surface facing the inside of the composite with a corrosion-protected transparent surface coating. The panes are joined together by layers of adhesive. The transparent surface coating is removed along at least one edge of the coated pane in a region between 0.1 mm and 5 mm from the peripheral edge of the pane in the direction of the main surface of the pane, and a protective layer impermeable to the diffusion of water vapor, covering the external boundary edge of the transparent surface coating, is applied along that edge of the coated pane from which the coating has been removed. The invention also relates to a laminated glazing unit with a corrosion-protected transparent surface coating.

  • Patent number: 7008492
Abstract: A method for the dimensionally accurate application of an elastoplastic spacer strip onto a glass pane intended for producing an insulating glass unit is that the spacer strip is not withdrawn from the storage drum but instead it is unwound in a manner free from any tensile stress and that the same is kept free from tensile and shearing stresses on the further route up to the pressing onto the glass pane, this being despite the fact that the application speed will inevitably fluctuate several times between zero, and a maximum value while edges of the glass pane are covered mechanically. The apparatus for performing the method therefore comprises a compensating or tailback section (3) between a first adjustably driven pair of rollers (1) and a second adjustably driven pair of rollers (9) as well as a sensor for recognizing the position of the strip in the compensating section.

  • Patent number: 6991694
Abstract: A method of making a tailgate for a pickup truck or the like includes selecting a pair of polymer sheets and selecting a flexible fiberglass woven mat and sandwiching the selected fiberglass woven mat between the selected pair of polymer sheets. The sandwiched mat polymer sheets are placed on a tailgate forming mold for molding the inner tailgate panel from the sandwiched matted polymer sheets. The inner tailgate panel has a plurality of spacing reinforcing ribs thereon. The outer tailgate panel is formed and the ribs on the inner tailgate panel have a cold setting adhesive applied thereto for binding the outer tailgate panel thereover to form a tailgate having inner and outer fiberglass reinforced polymer panels spaced and reinforced by a plurality of intersecting ribs. Once the inner and outer panels have been positioned, they are placed in a fixture to hold them while the adhesive cures.

  • Patent number: 6974518
Abstract: A window sash frame is provided with a glazing pane installation opening accessible from a first side thereof and a glazing pane support surface on a second side thereof. A first glazing pane is inserted into the installation opening and an outside surface perimeter of the pane is placed adjacent to the support surface. A second glazing pane is then inserted into the opening. An inside surface perimeter of the second pane is mounted (e.g., via an adhesive bead, strip, tape or foam) to an inside surface perimeter of the first glazing pane. The adhesive thickness is such that the panes are separated by a space, which can contain air or an inert insulating gas. A glazing bead is installed along at least a portion of the glazing pane installation opening after the glazing panes have been inserted. A spacer can alternatively or additionally be provided between the glazing panes.

  • Patent number: 6971429
Abstract: An improved method of and apparatus that is continuously automatically operative in an in-line system is described for applying under vacuum, heat and mechanical pressure a dry film photoresist-forming layer to printed circuit boards (200) that already have been prelaminated by the loose application thereto of the dry film resist as discrete cut sheets within the confines of the surface of the boards whereby a laminate without entrapped air bubbles and closely conforming to the raised circuit traces and irregular surface contours of the printed circuit board is obtained. Featured is a conveyorized vacuum applicator (12) comprising two independent vacuum lamination chambers (18,20) in end-to-end relation. The first vacuum chamber operates at ambient temperature to draw off all of the air entrapped between the dry film resist and the surface of the printed circuit board at conditions that do not result in premature tacking of the dry film to the surface of the board.

  • Patent number: 6972069
Abstract: A device for connecting two wafers in a planar manner for grinding down and cutting up a product wafer has a vacuum chamber, a chuck for receiving a carrier wafer, a heating device for heating up the chuck and a vacuum-chamber cover with a vacuum-holding device, on which a product wafer can be arranged suspended above the carrier wafer. After the evacuation of the vacuum chamber, the active surface of the product wafer is dropped onto a double-sided adhesive film on the carrier wafer and is pressed into place by the rising pressure during air admission. The result is that the wafers are connected together.

  • Patent number: 6962638
Abstract: Two glass sheets are moved in a horizontal direction between a first stage and a second stage by a pushing and pulling device while having a certain gap maintained between the two glass sheets by a holder and having lower edge surfaces of the two glass sheets supported by a guide. A die is provided between the first stage and the second stage so as to be movable in a vertical direction. A resin material is injected in a peripheral edge between the two glass sheets by injecting the resin material from the die onto the peripheral edge between the glass sheets while carrying out alternatively the horizontal movement of the two glass sheets and the vertical movement of the die. A double glazing unit is prepared by forming a resin spacer in the peripheral edge between the two glass sheets while maintaining the certain gap between the two glass sheets.

  • Patent number: 6942747
Abstract: In the present invention, a technique is described for manufacturing microtube devices which have peripheral geometries that are not uniform along the tube or device axis. These geometries may exist in only one location on the periphery of the microtube device or geometries may be repeated either uniformly or non-uniformly with micron or sub-micron precision along the tube or device axis. The preferred manufacturing process involves forming a complex mandrel, ie., (one, for example, that can not be formed by extrusion or pultrusion under constant processing conditions) and giving it at least one metallic and/or nonmetallic coating by any of a variety of techniques. The complex mandrel can then be removed by appropriate chemical or physical means that do not adversely affect the coating(s) desired for the wall. The result is a microtube structure having an axial profile duplicating that on the mandrel from which it was formed.
