Abstract: Nitrogenous multiacrylic monomers having the formula (I) are produced by reacting at least one diamine having the formula H.sub.2 N--R--NH.sub.2 with at least one polyepoxide resin and at least one (meth)acrylic epoxide. Application in the production of polymers for use in the preparation of varnishes, adhesives, films and composite materials.
Abstract: The silicone rubber composition of the present invention comprises (A) an organopolysiloxane obtained by mixing and heating an organopolysiloxane having a silanol group at both ends of the molecular chain and a silane or a siloxane having two hydrolyzable groups in the molecule, (B) a finely divided silica, and (C) a curing agent. The composition, wherein the content of low-molecule siloxanes is remarkably constrained, is quite useful in the application wherein low-molecular siloxanes are obnoxious, for example, in the application of electrical contacts and parts used adjacent thereto, roll materials of copying machines, gaskets for construction, etc.
Abstract: A method of repelling birds from a source, comprising the step of applying to the source an aversely effective amount of a liquid bird aversion solution including a bird aversion agent in an amount of from 5 to 50% by weight of a total weight of the solution; a terpene chosen from terpene hydrocarbons, oxygenated terpenes and a mixture of terpene hydrocarbons and oxygenated terpenes in an amount of from 10% to 50% by weight of a total weight of the solution; and alkylesters chosen from saturated fatty acids having from 4-20 carbon atoms and unsaturated fatty acids having from 10-18 carbon atoms esterified with an alcohol having 1-8 carbon atoms in an amount of from 10 to 50% by weight of a total weight of the solution. The bird aversion agent can be selected from methyl anthranilate, ortho-amino acetophenone, 2-amino-1,5-dimethyl acetophenone, veratroyl amine, dimethyl anthranilate, cinnamic aldehyde or esters, and combinations of these compounds.

Abstract: A non-crosslinked endblocked polymer, comprising a preformed aqueous emulsion having a plurality of silanol-terminated polydiorganosiloxane particles, an endcapping silane having the formula R.sub.3 SiX where X is a hydrolyzable group, R is an alkyl group consisting of 1 to 7 carbon atoms, and an organotin catalyst. The composition results in a non-crosslinked polymer, unlike the polymers described in the prior art. It has been found that adding an endblocking silane having only one hydrolyzable group to a preformed polydiorganosiloxane emulsion results in endblocked polydiorganosiloxane molecules free of crosslinks between the polydiorganosiloxane chains.
Abstract: An alkali metal compound such as metallic cesium, cesium hydroxide, cesium hydroxide monohydrate, metallic rubidium, rubidium hydroxide or rubidium hydroxide monohydrate is used as a catalyst, crude polyoxyalkylene polyol containing the catalyst is neutralized with a mineral acid or an organic acid, an aqueous solution layer containing an alkali metal salt is brought into contact with an anion exchange resin to adsorb mineral acid anion or organic acid anion, the alkali metal compound catalyst is recovered, alkylene oxide undergoes ring-opening addition polymerization on an active hydrogen compound in the presence of the recovered alkali metal compound catalyst to prepare polyoxyalkylene polyol, the catalyst is thereafter separated, recovered and reused, and such recycle of the alkali metal compound catalyst provides an economical process.

Abstract: A silicone composition is of the addition reaction type which comprises a vinyl group-containing organopolysiloxane, an organohydrogenpolysiloxane which has at least one hydrogen atom joined to a silicon atom in one molecule, a platinum group metal catalyst, and an aluminum oxide powder which is substantially round or spherical in shape with an average particle size of not larger than 50 .mu.m and wherein when the aluminum oxide powder is subjected to extraction of alkali metal ions and halogen ions under conditions of 121.degree. C., 2 atmospheric pressures, 100% R.H. and 20 hours, the contents of both ions are, respectively, not larger than 5 ppm. The cured product obtained from the composition has high thermal conductivity and the composition is useful as a sealant of electric and electronic parts and can prevent the parts from being corroded.

C. and containing 0.05-0.3 mol % of SiOH group. The composition is storage stable at room temperature and efficiently cures through hydrosilylation reaction at high temperature.
Abstract: Curable compositions including epoxy-functional compounds and polyenes, as well as cyclic polysiloxanes, and/or tetrahedral siloxysilanes, and/or linear polysiloxanes; along with, or instead of these polyenes and silicon compositions, crosslinkable prepolymers prepared from such polyenes and silicon compounds may be included. A curing agent, and yet additionally, a curing accelerator, may also be included. These compositions can be thermally cured, in the presence of hydrosilation catalysts.

Abstract: A cosmetic or pharmaceutical water-in-oil emulsion composition, exhibiting time and temperature stability, comprises in an aqueous phase, (a) a fatty phase comprising (i) a silicone and (ii) a gelling agent and (b) an emulsifying agent. The fatty phase is present in an amount ranging from 15 to 40 weight percent of the emulsion and contains 10 to 90 weight percent of the (i) silicone and 0.1 to 5 percent of the (ii) gelling agent. The emulsifying agent is present in an amount ranging from 0.5 to 10 percent by weight.

Abstract: A vinyl copolymer is provided comprising a silanol group-containing (meth)acryl siloxane unit of formula (1): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen or methyl, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, and R.sup.4 are independently a monovalent C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 hydrocarbon group or a siloxy group, R.sup.5 is a monovalent C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 hydrocarbon group, n=1 to 12, and a=0 or 1. The vinyl copolymer is prepared by copolymerizing a polymerizable vinyl monomer with a silanol group-containing (meth)acryl siloxane in the presence of a radical initiator or by emulsion polymerizing a polymerizable vinyl monomer with a silanol group-containing (meth)acryl siloxane in an aqueous medium in the presence of a surfactant and a polymerization initiator. The copolymer is blended with a condensation catalyst to form a room temperature curable resin composition which crosslinks in the presence of moisture into a cured coating having weatherability, flexibility, and adherence.

Abstract: To a silicone composition comprising (A) an organopolysiloxane having at least two alkenyl groups in a molecule, (B) an organohydrogenpolysiloxane having at least two hydrogen atoms each directly attached to a silicon atom in a molecule, and (C) a platinum catalyst, (D) a compound having a phenyl group and a secondary or tertiary amino group directly attached thereto is added to render the composition flame retardant. The composition cures into a transparent product having improved flame retardancy meeting the UL standard and is suitable for use in the protection of electronic parts like ICs and hybrid ICs.
Abstract: An under-coating composition comprising 100 weight parts of chlorinated polyolefin resin including 15 to 35 wt. % of chloride and 1 to 70 weight parts of epoxy resin having an equivalent epoxy weight of less than or equal to 600 is capable of eliminating the pretreatment of a surface of polyolefin resin substrate which is to be overcoated and improving the adhesion strength between the over-coatings and the surface of the substrate of polyolefin resin. Especially, the coating surface according to the present invention is much improved in resistance to hot water and resistance to humidity. Further, the use of the under-coating composition according to the present invention permits an over-coating film to have a high resistance to water decoloration.
Abstract: A method for continuously producing a room temperature vulcanizable composition is disclosed. A base mixture of a silanol stopped fluorosilicone polymer, a silica filler and iron oxide are processed in an extruder at an elevated temperature between about 50.degree. and 200.degree. C. Thereafter, a tin based catalyst, an acetoxy cross-linking agent and an optional adhesion promoter are added to the extruder near the exit port. The resulting material has improved storage stability.
