  • Patent number: 10325324
Abstract: A social networking system associates one or more objects in the social networking system with a link to content external to the social networking system. This allows information about the object to be used as a proxy for information about the external content. An index associating objects in the social networking system with links to content external to the social networking system is maintained. A received link to external content are parsed into components, such as a domain name, a path, and a query string, and the components are compared to the index to identify an object associated with one or more of the comments of the received link. One or more rules may be applied to increase the likelihood of the identified object having similar subject matter as the external content.

  • Patent number: 10325208
Abstract: Born To Live is use for mitigating obstacles of exponential broadening base logic, inherent in multi-levels tree formation systems, to deriving Pareto efficient system solutions for scheduling fair leveraging treatment frequencies. The disclosed intellectual property know-how is use for working with pools of leveraging contributors, starting with the minimum age of eighteen (18) year old, to applying age ranges interval tabulations, whereby forming Born To Live relational multi-levels tree formation systems. It instructs pre-sorting of leveraging contributors' position assignments sequences base on age's priorities order. Guided by a levels strengths analysis chart constructed, it instructs the formation of adjacent optimal multi-levels trees, for managing obstacles of the next insurmountable incremental in multi-levels tree formation systems.

  • Patent number: 10321408
Abstract: An online system receives an advertisement (“ad”) request identifying an objective for presenting the ad request. The objective specifies a type of interaction with the presented ad request. A threshold battery level is associated with the type of interaction in the ad request that specifies a minimum battery level of a client device to complete the type of interaction. When selecting content for presentation to a user, the online system obtains a battery level of a client device associated with the user and compares the obtained battery level to the threshold battery level. Based on the comparison, the online system determines if to present the ad request to the user. For example, the comparison may prevent presentation of the ad request or penalize a value associated with the ad request if the obtained battery level does not satisfy the threshold battery level.

Abstract: According to various embodiments, techniques and mechanisms described herein facilitate the storage of an image of a rendered webpage on a storage medium. A first message including a request for a webpage may be transmitted to a web server via a communications interface. The webpage request may generate an advertising opportunity bid request for bids to place an advertisement on the requested webpage. A second message to place a bid on the generated advertising opportunity bid request may be transmitted. Information for rendering the webpage is received in response to the webpage request, and an image of the rendered webpage may be stored on a storage medium.

  • Patent number: 10282756
Abstract: A bid for a content slot from a content provider is received. The bid includes a revenue-sharing bid. It is determined that the bid is a winning bid and content is presented from the content provider in the content slot. Presentation details are logged that include a time when the content was presented. At a later time, an indication is received of an action, the indication including an indication that the action is responsive to the content having been presented previously. Based on the action, the content provider is charged an appropriate amount based on the revenue sharing bid.

  • Patent number: 10275782
Abstract: Query threshold values are determined to be used to select advertisements to be displayed in response to a search query. A query threshold value is determined for each query based on query attributes characterizing the query, such as a query frequency, query length, whether the query is a navigational query, etc. By generating a threshold value for each query, and using the query threshold value for selecting advertisements to be displayed for the query (e.g., selecting advertisements having quality scores greater than the query threshold value), the advertisements can better correspond to the query, and thus are more likely to be selected by the user. As a result, the user experience can be enhanced and the advertising revenue can be correspondingly increased.

  • Patent number: 10262338
Abstract: A client device or an online system determines a position in an interface presented by a client device for presenting content associated with an application installed on the client device based in part on a bid amount associated with the application. Scores are determined for the application and other applications installed on the client device based on an expected amount of user interaction with each application and bid amounts associated with one or more of the applications. Based on a score associated with an application, a position in the interface for presenting content associated with the application is determined. If the determined position satisfies a position specified by the bid amount and content associated with the application is presented in the determined position for at least a threshold amount of time, an online system charges a third party system associated with the application an amount.

  • Patent number: 10026100
Abstract: A super-saturation method for information-media relates to directing information to an electronic media consumer (reader, surfer, viewer, listener, etc.). Embodiments of the present invention facilitate a first media entity substantially offering out of context information placement using a second media entity. A facilitator entity guarantees that a consumer of the second media is a known consumer of the first media. Accordingly, the second media entity presents an out of context information placement. For example, an Internet site “AAA” is oversubscribed with potential paying advertising content at $100 CPM. This site offers advertisers an option to present their advertisements to certified “AAA” viewers, albeit on a non-AAA Internet site, for $50 CPM. The facilitator locates certified AAA viewers at Internet site “BBB” that normally charges $30 CPM. Contracts between AAA, BBB, and the facilitator divide a new revenue stream of $20 CPM among them.
