  • Patent number: 8326913
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to techniques for automatically processing services in a service-oriented architecture. More specifically, services that are not already stored in a database are processed and then stored in a database using a service contract discovery process. The service contract discovery process can be performed when (1) a server provides service to a client computer; or (2) a server performs a scanning process to locate services that are not already stored in the database.

  • Patent number: 8326985
Abstract: Systems and methods for distributed management of keep-alive message signaling for mobile network resource conservation and optimization are disclosed. In one aspect, embodiments of the present disclosure include a method, which may be implemented on a system, of monitoring rates of data communications with a mobile device, sending a periodic message to indicate operational state to the mobile device in response to a decrease in the rates of data communications with the mobile device, sending subsequent periodic messages to indicate operational state to the mobile device at increasing intervals between the subsequent periodic messages to decrease a number of periodic messages sent over the wireless network, and acknowledging to the mobile device that the subsequent periodic messages will be sent at increased intervals, or in a manner that conserves use of the mobile network.

  • Patent number: 8321573
Abstract: A communication terminal includes a CPU (28). The CPU (28) issues to a router (16) a send request for requesting the router (16) to send an ask signal for repetitive responses to a server (14). Then, the ask signal is sent to the server (14) by the router (16), and a receive port is temporarily opened. From the server (14), a response signal is repeatedly sent in response to the ask signal. To the response signal, time information representative of a waiting time from receiving an ask signal to its reply is attached. A response signal sent back while the receive port is opened arrives at the communication terminal through the router (16), but a response signal sent back after the receive port is closed is discarded in the router (16). The CPU (28) repeatedly issues a send request to the router (16) regarding a time indicated by time information attached to the response signal lastly received as an issuance cycle (T).

  • Patent number: 8319822
Abstract: A high-resolution image device that is used to receive images in a variable depth of field environment may include a color image sensor, a panchromatic image sensor, and a measuring device. The color image sensor may be configured to receive a color image of an object. Similarly, a synchronous panchromatic image may be received by the panchromatic image sensor. To generate a fine spatial color image with higher resolution than the image received by the color image sensor, the image device may be configured to replace a luminance component from the original color image with a luminance component from the panchromatic image. However, due to a spatial difference between apertures of the color and panchromatic image sensors, parallax error may occur due to a perceived shift of the imaged object against a reference background in the color and panchromatic images.

  • Patent number: 8316096
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for generating, sending, and delivering a message addressed using an image of an intended message recipient of the message. In one embodiment, a central server receives a message including an image of an intended message recipient from a first user device of a first user. The central server then identifies a second user as the intended message recipient based on the image of the intended message recipient. Then, before delivering the message, the central server obtains an image of a user at a second user device associated with the second user and sends the image to the first user device where the image is presented to the first user. Upon receiving authentication from the first user device that the user at the second user device is the intended message recipient, the central server delivers the message to the second user device of the second user.

  • Patent number: 8312097
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for fine level access control over message content in an electronic messaging system. Access criteria associated with the message content define requirements that a user must satisfy in order to perform specified actions on message content. The user's complete profile is examined at run time and compared to access criteria to make a real time decision about the level of access that a user should have to message content. Depending on the access criteria associated with content, stronger authentication or weaker authentication of the user profile information may be performed on the user profile to determine the level of access that should be granted to the user.

  • Patent number: 8312149
Abstract: System and methods for a connection proxy server are described. According to an example method described herein, a connection proxy server stores subscription, product tables as well as other downloads that are provided to a client terminal during initialization stage as well as later during a trading session. Upon detecting that a connection between the client terminal and a gateway is lost, the connection proxy maintains a communication session created for the client terminal at the gateway and receives data intended for the client terminal. If the connection is re-established between the client terminal and the gateway during a predetermined period of time, the connection proxy provides the stored data to the client terminal thus avoiding a surge in processing resources at the gateway due to the necessary downloads.

  • Patent number: 8307048
Abstract: A network system supports multiple network communication protocols. An Ethernet component gateway in a Fiber Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) initiator system converts FCoE data packets from host devices to Fiber Channel over Internet Protocol (FCIP) data packets for transmission to a Storage Area Network (SAN) target system. The SAN target system may include a target Fiber Channel (FC) storage device and a SAN component gateway. The SAN component gateway converts FCIP data packets to SAN data packets for use by the target FC storage device. The SAN data packets may be either FC protocol data packets or FCoE protocol data packets. The SAN target system may provide for discovery of target FC storage device adapter information.

  • Patent number: 8296464
Abstract: A split deployment model is enabled for a telecommunication service access gateway. The services of the gateway are segregated into a set of core services that provide container-based functionality and a set of exposure services that enable network integration and translation of protocols. The core services are executed as part of the application server, while the exposure services are deployed in separate archive files. This isolation of services allows single or groups of services to be independently upgraded, patched or removed and reduces the impact of one service on others. Furthermore, the services can scale independently, allowing additional hardware resources to be added to a particular service. Multiple versions of a single service can also be deployed in a single cluster or server.

  • Patent number: 8294768
Abstract: A detection system detects moving objects in a scene by processing two consecutive images of the scene. The two consecutive images are captured by a pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera and fed back to the system. The system obtains position information of the moving object in the scene, and adjusts parameters, such as a shoot angle, and a focal length of the PTZ camera, according to the position information of the moving object. Therefore, the PTZ camera can be aimed to follow the motion area and adjusted to optimum focal length.

  • Patent number: 8291108
Abstract: The present invention provides improvements to load balancing by providing a load balancing solution that allows a user to select metrics, weights and thresholds from metrics collected or determined by a load balancing appliance as well as metrics obtained from another device, such as a server running the service. The systems and methods described providing a load balancing technique in which load balancing decisions can be made based on metrics known by another device monitoring such metrics. The load balancing appliance uses a network management protocol and communication model, such as a Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), to identify and collect metrics from a server, service or other device. These metrics are available on the load balancing appliance with appliance determined metrics. Via a configuration interface of the appliance, a user can select one or more appliance determined metrics and/or the metrics obtained via the network management protocol to determine the load of a service.
