Abstract: A digital device comprises data processing unit displaying a graphic user interface (GUI) and an initial setup module. The initial setup module includes autodetection module, contextual help module, and advertisement module. The autodetection module automatically detects at least one of a network, a television cable, and a plurality of inputs connected to the digital device, and populates a connections list in a second panel including the result of the automatic detection. The contextual help module displays at least one of texts, images and animations in a first panel that help the user understand the steps of the initial setup. The advertisement module displays advertisements in the first panel when the digital device is loading. The digital device may be loading at least when the autodetection module is automatically detecting or when the contextual help module is loading the at least one of texts, images and animations to be displayed.

Abstract: Provided is a method capable of making various modifications to widgets, graphic objects, or images, which are displayed on a display device, according to motions of a plurality of input units such as finger or stylus pen, with the use of a three-dimensional multi-sensor configured to detect the motions of the input units in a space, without touching the display device.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method of accessing multi-page data via a user interface can include: displaying a scrollbar on the user interface, where the scrollbar includes a page index and a scroll indicator; receiving a selection of a page of the data using the page index in the scrollbar on the user interface, where the data is arranged as a plurality of pages; indicating the selected page in the scrollbar with a predetermined indicator, such as a highlight indicator; receiving a selection of a portion of the selected page using the scroll indicator in the scrollbar on the user interface; and displaying the selected portion of the selected page in a main window on the user interface.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided through which data parseable against a document type definition by generating a list of a possible paths of an input element that is not encoded against the document type definition, determining the path that is the best fit with the document type definition, and then generating the element in the syntax of the document type definition. Determining the path that is the best fit includes parsing the path against the document type definition. The best fit is expressed in a scoring scale, in which the best score indicates the best fit. Thereafter, the path with the best fit is translated in accordance to the document type definition or markup language.

Abstract: Provided is a method and apparatus for providing a User Interface (UI) component to a second Remote User Interface Client (RUIC) incapable of directly receiving the UI component from a Remote User Interface Server (RUIS) in a first RUIC capable of directly receiving the UI component from the RUIS. In the method, the first RUIC discovers the second RUIC that will receive the UI component. Upon discovering the second RUIC, the first RUIC performs a device capability matching procedure between the RUIS and the second RUIC. After completion of the device capability matching procedure, the first RUIC provides the second RUIC with a UI component received from the RUIS and processed for the second RUIC, and delivers control information for the UI component from the second RUIC to the RUIS.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for populating and submitting electronic forms by proxy over a data-packet-network. The apparatus comprises software running on a system of network-connected servers that enables a user, connected to one of the servers, to navigate to a site containing an electronic form and obtain data about the site and the form. The data obtained is used in conjunction with data about the user to construct a machine readable job order upon user request that may be executed for the purpose of automatic form population and submission to a host sponsoring the site. Upon acceptance of the submitted form, data used for log-in is stored where it is entered along with site data as a new registered site item for a user such that future navigation to the site, auto log-in and data return is performed automatically on behalf of the user.

Abstract: A user interface (UI) control apparatus connected to a remote appliance via a communication path. The UI control apparatus is capable of providing a suitable UI for a user which may be stored on the UI control apparatus or the remote appliance without the need of a data management server. The UI control apparatus including: a UI list obtaining unit configured to add information on a UI program stored in a remote appliance to a UI list which is information listing at least one UI program stored in the UI control apparatus, the remote appliance being connected to the UI control apparatus via a communication path; and a UI obtaining unit configured to (i) search the remote appliance and (ii) obtain, from the remote appliance, a UI program selected by a user from the UI list with the information on the UI program added to the UI list.

Abstract: Items in a hierarchy may be displayed in an outline view, where each item at a hierarchy level is presented in a separate line, or as condensed hierarchy lines. A condensed hierarchy line displays two or more related items in a single line. Condensed hierarchy lines present the context of items in a hierarchy in reduced display area as compared with outline views. Users may add or remove items from condensed hierarchy lines using any type of input. Each portion of a condensed hierarchy line represents a different item at a different level of the hierarchy. Items in the condensed hierarchy line may include active user interface elements. Users or applications may define multiple condensed hierarchy lines as needed from arbitrary groups of items in adjacent hierarchy levels. Multiple condensed hierarchy lines can be used to show context for sibling relationships between items.

Abstract: Hybrid menus can be generated and displayed, where the hybrid menus comprising primary and sub-menus having different geometries. Depending upon the context in which a user provides selection input for menu display, the context-appropriate model elements are retrieved from a tree model. A layout generation component transforms the tree model into a hybrid menu for display to the user.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method of sharing data between computer applications is discussed. The method includes receiving, at an application server sub-system of a hosted computer server system and from a first computing device that is remote from the hosted computer server system, commands interacting with an electronic document served by the application server sub-system, and receiving at the hosted computer server system a command to copy content from the electronic document to an electronic clipboard. The method also includes storing, at a clipboard server sub-system of the hosted computer server system, that is separate from the application server sub-system, data that represents the content, receiving a request for the stored data that represents the content, and delivering, from the clipboard server sub-system to a second computing device, the data that represents the content.

Abstract: A graphic user interface combines a position bar for moving between pages in a document and with a page bookmarking or referencing function. The position bar includes a selectable box that can be used to set a reference mark on a particular page of a document. The user interface also interprets input near the position bar to change the page to the page of the reference mark when the input is within a predefined range of the reference mark.

Abstract: In general, the subject matter described in this disclosure can be embodied in methods, systems and program products. A computing device receives user input that submits a search query. The computing device provides, by way of a search engine server system, the search query. The computing device receives, from the search engine server system, information that identifies search results that the search engine server system has determined are responsive to the search query. The computing device presents, in a first view of a search results page that is provided on a screen of the computing device in response to receiving the information identifying the search results, a portion of the search results page that includes a list of the search results, the search results page having been pre-scrolled to the portion of the search results page.

Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for managing the operation of networked media playback devices. One embodiment includes Graphical User Interface for coordinating playback of media via one or more networked wireless speaker devices. In particular, a user is able to “drag and drop” audio tracks to icons that are respectively indicative of one or more networked wireless speaker devices, thereby to affect playback of those audio tracks via those speaker devices.

Abstract: Selectable objects in a computer display are arranged in a cascading menu including parent menu and submenu objects in which an activation area is provided in association with each submenu displayed which spans between the submenu and the associated parent menu object. The activation area provides the function of maintaining display of a submenu associated with a selected parent menu object while the cursor remains in contact with the activation area. An override function is provided to minimize trapping of the cursor within the activation area. The shape of the activation area is generally triangular with opposing side edges extending from an apex and the parent object being curved inwardly towards one another to also minimize trapping. The characteristics of the activation area can also be varied according to user motion patterns.

Abstract: A method of displaying information in a computer system is described. The computer system includes a plurality of document images, a plurality of text files, and a plurality of positions files. A first text file of the plurality of text files represents optical character recognized text of a corresponding first document image of the plurality of document images. A first positions file of the plurality of positions files relates character information in the first text file to a position in the first document image. The computer system searches the plurality of text files using a search term to generate a set of found text files. Each found text file of the set of found text files includes at least a first matching text string to the search term; the set of found text files includes the first text file. The system accesses the first positions file to determine a first region in the first document image corresponding to the first matching text string.

Abstract: The system synchronizes, displays, and manipulates text and image documents in electronic form for display. The text and image files are synchronized to produce Equivalent Files to create an approximate equivalence relationship between the text and the image files. The graphic user interface of the present system allows a user to selectively view an Equivalent File in a window while simultaneously or alternatively viewing an image file within one or more image windows on the display. The user may also create and manipulate notes and subnotes as annotations to document objects or document portions. The notes and subnotes may be linked to text documents, image documents, text objects, or other non-text objects or documents, such as images, audio clips, etc. The user may create new subnotes associated with selected objects or selected portions, and the user may enter information pertaining to the selected objects in the new subnote.

Abstract: The current method and system generates an animation sequence for a live character during communication. In response to a performer's voice and other inputs, the animation sequence of the character is generated on a real-time basis and approximates human speech. The animated character is capable of expressing certain predetermined states of mind such as happy, angry and surprised. In addition, the animated character is also capable of approximating natural movements associated with speech.

Abstract: A multimedia method and apparatus for presenting to a user a story using a bimodal spine is disclosed. The first mode is substantially passive and relates the story in a narrative presentation of synchronized audio and image information. The second mode is substantially interactive and relates the story in text or in text and associated image information. The script used for the audio presentation is identical to the script used for the text presentation. The system permits the user to freely transfer between the two modes while maintaining narrative continuity between the modes, and it also allows the activation of hypertext features from either mode. The system provides for enhanced features, including a library function, an "Interactive Poll" feature, a "Face-to-Face" interview feature, and sponsor advertising.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for highlighting information between conference participants in a computer conferencing system is disclosed. In a computer conferencing system including a first participant coupled to a second participant via a communication medium, the first participant having a first display, a first cursor control device, and a first signal generation device, the second participant having a second display, a second cursor control device, and a second signal generation device, a process and apparatus is disclosed for highlighting information on a remote display.

Abstract: A system for displaying documents on a computer controlled display device is disclosed. The disclosed system supports displaying documents as strands, such that documents in a strand follow a strand path. The strand path is a two dimensional line through a three dimensional display space. The documents displayed on the strand are known as child documents, and each strand also has a parent document. Various constraints defining the strand are associated with the parent document, including a strand function defining the strand path when evaluated, minimum and maximum separation constraints defining the distance between the child documents on the strand, and an origin constraint defining the positional relationship of the strand path to the display of the parent document.
