Abstract: A method for operating an electronic device includes displaying a first input window on a screen, displaying a first input window in a first layer on a screen; displaying a virtual keyboard in a second layer over the first layer; determining whether the virtual keyboard is overlapped with the first input window; and in response to determine whether the virtual keyboard is overlapped with the first input window: displaying a second input window in a third layer over the second layer wherein the second input window is not overlapped with the virtual keyboard, or adjusting a transparency of the virtual keyboard. Other embodiments including an electronic device and a computer-readable medium are also disclosed.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for user interfaces and associated processes in email communication. In some embodiments, information such as address-context information of an email message is rendered to aid the user in various user interface scenarios. These scenarios include user interfaces for the Reply All command and the Send command. A Prompt is provided on the user interface in some embodiments for the usage of commands such as the Reply All command and Send command. The activation of the Reply All command in some embodiments is enabled with a predefined gesture on the user interface that is different from that used for other commands such as the Reply command. In other embodiments the gesture required for the activation of the Send command is changed based on the command that was activated to create the email message to be sent.

Abstract: Provided are a computer program product, system, and method for generating visualizations of facet values for facets defined over a collection of objects. The objects are processed to determine facet values for the objects for a specified facet. A first visualization is generated of representations of the determined facet values for the objects. User selection is received of one of the facet values represented in the generated first visualization. A determination is made of objects having the user selected facet value and a determination is made of at least one facet value for the specified facet for each of the determined objects having the selected facet value. A second visualization of representations of the determined at least one facet value is generated.

Abstract: There is provided a system and method for user generated gameplay in chat. The system including a memory storing a text and multimedia messaging software application, and a processor configured to execute the text and multimedia messaging software application to initiate a message exchange session with a remote mobile device, in response to a request received from a user of the mobile device, the message exchange session displaying a user interface for exchanging text and multimedia messages, provide a plurality of games for selection by the user to be played during the message exchange session and within the user interface for exchanging text and multimedia messages, receive a selection of one of the plurality of games by the user after initiating the message exchange session, and initiate the one of the plurality of games for playing within the user interface for exchanging text and multimedia messages.

Abstract: Information items in a file system are arranged into groups that are created according to a grouping component. A non-hierarchical view displays visual representations (e.g., icons, thumbnail images) of the information items arranged in visually delineated groups according to an arrange type that can be specified for each group. Various view formats are available including icon, list and column view formats. In each view format, a condensed mode can be selected for one or more groups, resulting in multiple visual representations of items being displayed in a fixed amount of screen space in the non-hierarchical view. In icon view, each condensed group includes a single row of visual representations that can be navigated separately from other groups in the non-hierarchical view.

Abstract: A dynamic presentation of contextually relevant content during an authoring experience. As a user writes about a topic, the authored content is analyzed to identify one or more keywords that may be used to identify, retrieve and present suggested content to the user. The suggested content may be received from one or more resources, such as a search engine, a data store associated with the user, social media resources or other local or remote files. Techniques described herein might also select the keywords from authored content based on a cursor position. As a result, the suggested content may change as the cursor moves to a new position in the authored content. In addition, techniques described herein provide a user interface control that allows for the selection and de-selection of one or more keywords, which allows a user to tailor the suggested content by toggling one or more controls.

Abstract: A method includes displaying a set of one or more suggestions including one or more character strings that are suggested replacements for a first set of one or more entered characters. The method further includes: while displaying the set of suggestions, receiving one or more additional entered characters; and after receiving the additional entered characters, updating the set of suggestions based on an updated set of entered characters that includes the first set of entered characters and the additional entered characters. The updating comprises changing a first suggestion in the set of suggestions from a first character string that is a suggested replacement for the first set of entered characters to a second character string that is a suggested replacement for the updated set of entered characters.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a technique for implementing a secure lock screen on a computing device. The secure lock screen is configured to permit particular applications to display their content—such as main user interfaces (UIs)—while maintaining a desired overall level of security on the computing device. Graphics contexts, which represent drawing destinations associated with the applications, are tagged with entitlement information that indicates whether or not each graphics context should be displayed on the computing device when the computing device is in a locked-mode. Specifically, an application manager tags each application that is initialized, where the tagging is based on a level of entitlement possessed by the application. In turn, a rendering server that manages the graphics contexts can identify the tagged entitlement information and display or suppress the content of the applications in accordance with their entitlements.

Abstract: A portable device which simultaneously executes a plurality of applications by using a multi-screen and a method of operating a multi-application thereof. The method involves receiving an input according to a user selection of a multi-application icon for executing a plurality of applications in respective windows simultaneously. Based on the selected multi-application icon, the applications and respective windows are identified. Execution images respectively associated with the applications are then displayed on the windows simultaneously.

Abstract: A method for automatic detection of user preferences for alternate user interface model includes operating a digital device with an active user interface model and receiving one or more input signals from a user of the digital device. The method includes comparing the one or more input signals with one or more latent user interface models and determining if one of the latent user interface models has a higher likelihood given the one or more input signals than the active user interface models. The method also includes responsively substituting the latent user interface with the highest likelihood given the one or more input signals for the active user interface model.

Abstract: A system for providing information to a user includes a screen for showing the information to the user, a receiver for receiving one or more values from a source of values on which values the information shown to the user is based, a generator for generating two or more data lines wherein each of said data lines comprises at least one data set, wherein the data sets comprise data which are based on said values and wherein the data sets are assigned to at least two data lines by predetermined or changeable criteria, a displayer for simultaneously showing said two or more data lines to the user on said screen, and a mover for moving at least one of said data lines on the screen, wherein the mover comprises an adjuster for adjusting a speed of the movement of the at least one data line depending on a criterion relating to the at least one data set comprised in the data line.

Event records are stored in memory and each event record records a specific combination of states relating to a first device or a second device and are associated with an action. Each action specifies a direction of audio input and output. States of the first and second devices are monitored. Changes to states are detected. Based on specific combination of states, one of the event records associated with the specific combination of states is identified. The action associated with the identified event record is performed and audio input and output between the electronic devices is directed in accordance with the associated action.

Abstract: Described is a technique for creating and displaying adaptive user interfaces. The user interface may be provided to an application development environment that provides the ability to allow authoring of a user interface that adapts to a screen size with any first abstracted size class value and any second abstracted size class value. Accordingly, an application that includes the user interface may determine a screen size of a device and adapt the user interface according to the screen size including the first abstracted size clasp value and the second abstracted size class value. Thus, a developer may efficiently develop a user interface based on various abstracted size class values that may be adapted to a particular device.

Abstract: Embodiments are described for handling the launching of applications in a multi-screen device. In embodiments, a first touch sensitive display of a first screen receives input to launch an application. In response, the application is launched. A determination is made as to whether the first touch sensitive display already has windows in its stack. If there are no windows in the stack of the first touch sensitive display, a new window of the first application is displayed on the first touch sensitive display. If there are windows in the stack, a determination is made whether a second display has windows in its stack. If not, the new window is displayed on the second display. If the second display also has windows in its stack, the new window will be displayed on the first touch sensitive display.

The present disclosure provides for accessing an internet site in response to a user input, the user input initiated while outputting a program to a display, retrieving content from the internet site based on at least one characteristic associated with the program, and outputting the retrieved content in an overlay or user interface on the display simultaneous with the program. The user interface provides the ability to access multiple profiles for determining whose content or message to display, and also includes a rotating carousel message display system, with a current message surrounded above and below by a previous message and a next message in the display queue in a different size or font.
