Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for cross-system user-level management of data objects stored in one or more information management systems, and for user-level management of data storage quotas in information management systems, including data objects in secondary storage. An illustrative quota manager is associated with one or more information management systems. The quota manager comprises a quota value representing the maximum amount of data storage allowed for a given end-user's primary and secondary data in the one or more information management systems. The quota manager determines whether data associated with the end-user has exceeded the storage quota, and if so, prompts the end-user to select data for deletion, the deletion to be implemented globally, across the primary and secondary storage subsystems of the respective one or more information management systems. Meanwhile, so long as the quota is exceeded, the quota manager instructs storage managers to block backups of end-user's data.

Abstract: Techniques for organizing knowledge about a dataset storing data from or about multiple sources may be provided. For example, the data can be accessed from the multiple sources and categorized based on the data type. For each data type, a triple extraction technique specific to that data type may be invoked. One set of techniques can allow the extraction of triples from the data based on natural language-based rules. Another set of techniques can allow a similar extraction based on logical or structural-based rules. A triple may store a relationship between elements of the data. The extracted triples can be stored with corresponding identifiers in a list. Further, dictionaries storing associations between elements of the data and the triples can be updated. The list and the dictionaries can be used to return triples in response to a query that specifies one or more elements.

Abstract: A system and method for supporting multi-tenancy in a federated data management system are provided herein. The method includes receiving a query from a client at a data management server, wherein the query includes a tenant property condition corresponding to the client. The method also includes identifying an external data store including data specified by the query and determining whether the external data store is multi-tenant enabled. The method further includes removing the tenant property condition and executing the query to retrieve the specified data if the external data store is not multi-tenant enabled.

Abstract: Access and management of a user's content may be facilitated by, in response to receiving a request for content related to a specified entity from the repository associated with at least the user's account, identifying, in a content of a file in the repository, an entity container of at least one entity container associated with the specified entity; and communicating the entity container that is associated with the specific entity to a source of the request.

Abstract: Described is a system for geocoding social networks by minimizing total variation. A set of social media data from a social media platform having users is received. A social network is generated from the set of social media data based on communication between users. A ground truth set of locations is determined for users who make their locations public, and the ground truth set of locations is propagated across the social network to generate a location estimate for each user. A confidence measure for each location estimate is then generated.

Abstract: According to an aspect, a system includes a query engine configured to obtain a multi-provider query model for a query specifying a filter to be applied on provider partitions. The obtained multi-provider query model incorporates a pruning plan. The query engine includes a query optimizer configured to execute the pruning plan during optimization of the multi-provider query model. The pruning plan determines if each of the provider partitions includes content that is required to execute the filter based on pruning information. The query optimizer configured to reduce a scope of the query by excluding at least one provider partition that is determined as not required to execute the filter.

Abstract: A database server instance automatically detects configuration issues when a pluggable database (PDB) is plugged into a new destination container database (CDB). The database server instance identifies one or more update templates, within the destination CDB, that, when run over the relocated PDB, will update the configuration of the PDB to conform to the configuration of the destination CDB. Instead of requiring an administrator to initiate update scripts from a DBMS kernel to reconfigure a PDB, the DBMS creates the update templates by recording commands run within PDBs in connection with system updates. These recorded update templates may then be run over relocated PDBs, to configure the PDBs according to the configuration of the destination CDB. Further, the update templates may be pre-recorded update templates, which record commands to perform configuration updates, to PDBs, that have never before been performed within the CDB.

Abstract: Systems, platforms, methods and media for providing genomic services are disclosed. In one example, a genomic services platform comprises a network interface through which are received genomic sequence reads derived from a biological sample obtained from a user The platform also includes a bioinformatics processing pipeline including a read alignment module configured to generate observed sequence data by aligning the sequence reads relative to a reference sequence, a variant calling module operative to identify observed variants in the observed sequence data, and a variant refinement module for producing a set of refined variants associated with the user. A variant imputation module produces a set of imputed variants associated with the user, and a variant storage module disposed to receive a query from network infrastructure of a partner application provider and to provide selected ones of the refined or imputed variants in response to the query.

Abstract: When a user sees a content item presented by a social networking system, the user may select an option to save the content item. When a user saves a content item, views saved content items, or otherwise indicates a present interest in a particular saved content item, the system recommends one or more additional items for the users to consume or save based on the seed saved content item. To find the additional content items, the system identifies other users who also saved the seed item and then finds other content items that these other users also saved at a rate that is disproportionately higher than the global save rates for the content items (which may be normalized by opportunities to save the content). Relevance for content items in other contexts may also be determined based on content items that have been saved by a user.

Abstract: A window operator can be processed according to a variety of techniques that introduce parallelism. Window function sub-results can be calculated separately on different nodes. Overall superior performance can result. Skewness in input data can be accounted for by controlling a degree of parallelism at nodes.

Abstract: Reliability of data reports can be determined by a device that receives a number of reports from different sources. One method includes: receiving data reports from devices. The data reports are associated with an occurrence of an event. The method also includes determining reliability data representing reliability of the data reports. The reliability can be determined based on one or more different defined characteristics such as the location at which a data report was generated relative to the location of the event, whether the data report was the most recently-received data report and/or the number of data reports reporting that an event is ongoing relative to the number of data reports reporting that the event is no longer ongoing. The method can also include determining whether a data report includes information indicative of a false positive report or a false negative report.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that provide high-level, ontology-based analysis of low-level data stored within an unstructured key/value store. The systems and methods allow an analyst to make sense of massive amounts of data from diverse sources without having any knowledge of the underlying physical data storage. The systems and methods provide flexible ontology assisted addressing, embedding such addressing in existing query languages such as widely used Structured Query Language (SQL), and returning results and provenance information of the results.

Abstract: A digital magazine server identifies content items for recommendation to a user based on content items with which the user previously interacted. Based on key phrases and terms in content items with which the user previously interacted, topics are associated with the content items and used to generate a vector for each content item. The vectors are used to generate clusters including one or more content items. A characteristic vector is generated for each cluster based on the vectors generated for content items within a cluster. Candidate content items are retrieved and topics included in the candidate content items are used along with the characteristic vectors to determine a measure of similarity between candidate content items and various clusters. Candidate content items with at least a threshold measure of similarity to a cluster are selected for presentation to the user.

Abstract: According to an aspect, a system for moving a filter in a query model to ensure query semantics includes a query engine configured to obtain a query model for a query to be executed on a database. The query engine includes a query optimizer configured to instantiate the query model by merging the query with the query model. The query optimizer includes a filter mover configured to move a filter to a point within the instantiated query model such that semantics for the query within the instantiated query model is ensured.

Abstract: A method is presented for ranking documents identified in a search relative to a keyword. The method utilizes a set of training documents to provide a co-occurrence matrix and a transition matrix. A word pair relevancy measure is calculated for each word of the document to be ranked. These word pair relevancy measures are based upon the co-occurrence and transition matrices obtained from the training set and are utilized to calculate a document relevance measure. Documents identified in a search are ranked utilizing the document relevance measure.

Abstract: Metadata associated with a plurality of sub-files associated with a single shared file is stored in a parallel file system. A plurality of processes generate a shared file. A compute node implements a Parallel Log Structured File System (PLFS) library to store at least one portion of the shared file and metadata for the at least one portion of the shared file on one or more of the plurality of object storage servers. The compute node is further configured to store the metadata by striping the metadata across a plurality of subdirectories of the shared file. The metadata is optionally striped across the plurality of subdirectories in a round-robin manner. The plurality of subdirectories are stored on one or more of the object storage servers. Write and read processes optionally communicate using a message passing interface. A given write process optionally writes metadata for a given portion of the shared file to an index file in a particular one of the subdirectories corresponding to the given portion.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system for determining a data distribution is provided by using an adaptive resolution histogram. In an embodiment, the adaptive resolution histogram is created using a trie, wherein node values in the trie represent frequency distributions and node positions define associated keys or key prefixes. Keys are derived from input data such as database records that are streamed from a record source. These keys may be processed as received to build the trie in parallel with the production of the input data. To provide adaptive resolution, new child nodes may only be created in the trie when a node value is incremented beyond a predetermined threshold. In this manner, the histogram adjusts the allocation of nodes according to the actual distribution of the data. The completed adaptive resolution histogram may be used for various tasks such as partitioning for balanced parallel processing of the input data.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes accessing a post of an online social network, extracting keywords from the content of the first post and the metadata associated with the first post, determining topics associated with each extracted keyword, calculating a topic-score based on a relevance of the topic to the post for each topic, generating a suggested keyword query corresponding to the post, the suggested keyword query comprising extracted keywords corresponding to each topic having a topic-score greater than a threshold topic-score, and sending the post and the suggested keyword query to a client device of a first user for display.
