Abstract: A pigmented thermoplastic resin composition comprising:(A) a thermoplastic resin;(B) a metal phthalocyanine pigment; and(C) 0.5 to 30% by weight, based on the weight of the pigment (B), as agent imparting heat stability to component (B), of a sulphonated imidomethyl phthalocyanine having the formula I: ##STR1## wherein Pc is a phthalocyanine residue optionally substituted by up to 4 chlorine or bromine atoms;M is hydrogen or a metal capable of forming a metal phthalocyanine;m is a vlaue within the range of from 0.05 to 1.0;n is a value within the range of from 0.1 to 4.0; andX is a residue such that, in combination with the group ##STR2## it form a 5-, 6- or 7-membered cyclic imide.
Abstract: Organopolysiloxane compositions curable by a hydrosilylation reaction contain a novel adhesion promoter consisting essentially of (1) a carboxylic acid ester containing an acryloyloxy or methacryloyloxy group and an alcoholic functional group and (2) an organosilicon compound containing a silicon-bonded vinyloxy or substituted vinyloxy group. The compositions exhibit excellent adhesion to both organic and inorganic substrates that are in contact with the compositions during curing. The adhesion on plastics is especially good.
Abstract: Liquid crystalline bis-chlorocarbonic acid esters are 4-hydroxybenzoic acid-(4'-hydroxyphenyl) esters corresponding to the following formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 denote, independently of one another, hydrogen, a halogen atom or a C.sub.1 to C.sub.6 alkyl group. Preparation of (I) and liquid crystalline N-alkyl polyurethanes and polycarbonates prepared form (I) are other invention embodiments.

Abstract: There is disclosed a novel phtalic acid ester-modified organopolysiloxane having the general formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a monovalent hydrocarbon group, R.sup.2 is a group R.sup.1 or a group with the formula ##STR2## with the proviso that at least one of the groups R.sup.2 in each molecule is the group with the formula ##STR3## in which R.sup.3 is an alkyl group, R.sup.4 is an alkylene group, and m is a positive integer.The organosiloxane is useful as a co-reactant in the preparation of organic resins such as polyesters, polyamides and polyimides.
Abstract: The invention discloses novel organofunctional silicone polymers which have an ether amino pendant functionality present within the polymer. Compounds of the invention by virtue of their ether amino group, deposit on the surface of substrates, either alone or as complexes with cations. Thereby altering the substrate's surface physical properties. The desirable durable properties which can be given to substrates include; softness, lubrication, soil release, and hydrophoblicity. The compounds of the present invention are prepared by introduction of an amino group onto the silicone pendant group. Aminolysis and cyanoethylation of a hydroxy containing silicone polymer, or hydroxy containing vinyl intermediate which is subsequently introduced into the polymer backbone by hydrosilation are the preferred methods for peparing the compounds of the present invention.
Abstract: The present invention intends to provide a cured material of a silicon-containing polyimide having high heat resistance, low coefficient of thermal expansion, no brittleness and high hardness.In order to enable liquid coating and impregnation, a silicon-containing soluble polyimide precursor is first prepared. The precursor may be prepared by mixing five compounds of ##STR1## (R.sup.1 is a tetravalent carbon cyclic aromatic group), NH.sub.2 --R.sup.2 --NH.sub.2 (R.sup.2 is an aliphatic group, an alicyclic group, an aromatic aliphatic group or a carbon cyclic aromatic group, a polysiloxane group or 1,3,5-triazine group having a substituent), NH.sub.2 --R.sup.3 --SiR.sup.4.sub.3-k X.sup.1.sub.k and NH.sub.2 --R.sup.3 --SiR.sub.3-m.sup.4 X.sup.1.sub.m (R.sup.3 is --(CH.sub.2).sub.s --, ##STR2## wherein s is an integer of 1 to 4, and R.sup.4 is an alkyl group, a phenyl group or an alkyl-substituted phenyl group and SiX.sub.4.sup.2, X.sup.1 and X.sup.
Abstract: A primer composition which is particularly effective to strongly bond fluorosilicone rubbers to metal, plastics, fibers, and the like, comprising(A) 100 parts by weight of a polyorganosiloxane represented by formula (I): ##EQU1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent hydrocarbon group, 10 to 50 mol % of the hydrocarbon groups of R.sup.1 being perfluoroalkyl and 0.01 to 1.0 mol % of the hydrocarbon groups of R.sup.1 being vinyl, and a is a number of from 1.98 to 2.01, and which has a viscosity as measured at 25.degree. Abstract: A room temperature vulcanizable organopolysiloxane composition is provided, comprising (a) a diorganopolysiloxane blocked with a silanol, dialkoxy or trialkoxy radical at both ends of the molecular chain thereof, (b) a novel organic silicon compound of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen or a monovalent hydrocarbon radical having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, ##STR2## m and l are independently equal to 0, 1 or 2, and n is an integer in the range of 2 to 8, and (c) a curing catalyst. The composition may further contain (d) an organoalkoxysilane.
Abstract: Polyester films with a good slitting property and good slipping property contain, in first and second embodiments, at least 0.005% by weight of calcium carbonate particles. The particle size S.sub.c of the polyester crystals, crystal face orientation index X.sub.i and the difference .DELTA.n between the refractive indices in the machine direction and in the transverse direction of the polyester film have a specific relationship, or the internal haze H, face orientation coefficient f.sub.n or the difference .DELTA.n between the refractive indices in the machine direction and in the transverse direction have a specific relationship. By satisfying the specific relationship, a good slitting property and good slipping property are obtained. A third embodiment provides a polyester film containing at least 0.005% by weight of calcium carbonate particles, which has a specific center line average roughness Ra, face orientation coefficient f.sub.n, the difference .DELTA.
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for the production of silicon-containing polyimide presursors that have a viscosity most suitable for application, and when baked, can form a coating low in hygroscopicity, heat resistant, and having powerful adhesion, and a process for their cured silicon-containing polyimide.A process for the production of silicon-containing polyimide precursors having a logarithmic viscosity number of 0.05 to 5 dl/g by reacting A.sup.1 mol of fluorine-containing diacid anhydride, A.sup.2 mol of a diacid anhydride, B.sup.1 mol of a fluorine-containing diamine, B.sup.2 mol of a diamine, and C mol of an aminosilane with the mixing ratio of them such that A.sup.1, A.sup.2, B.sup.1, B.sup.2, and C are within ranges having prescribed relationships, and a process for the production of a silicon-containing polyimide by baking a solution of said precursor at 50.degree. to 500.degree. C.

Abstract: A method of producing alkoxysilethylene endblocked polydiorganosiloxane consists essentially of first reacting hydroxyl endblocked polydiorganosiloxane with an excess of a SiH compound having from 2 to 4 SiH groups in the presence of a platinum catalyst, then reacting that product with vinyltrialkoxysilane to give the desired polymer.
Abstract: The specification describes and claims curable polysiloxane compositions filled with a mixture of two types of finely divided calcium carbonate. The curable polysiloxane comprises 100 parts by weight of a hydroxypolysiloxane with from 5 to 12 parts by weight of a curing agent therefore comprising a silane of the formula R.sub.a R'.sub.b Si or a siloxane having units ##EQU1## wherein each R represents a monovalent hydrocarbon group, each R' represents an hydroxy, alkoxy, or alkoxyalkoxy group, a+b=4, a has a value 0 or 1, b has a value 3 or 4, c has a value 1, 2 or 3 and a+c is not greater than 3 as exemplified by methyl trimethoxy silane, together with a catalytic amount of a titanium or tin compound for promoting curing of the product in presence of moisture of the atmosphere.
Abstract: The invention discloses novel sulfated silicone polymers which have the sulfate group on a pendant functionality rather than within the polymer backbone. Compounds of the invention by virtue of the presence of this anionic group, are high foaming compounds which deposit on the surface of substrates. The deposition can be enhanced by forming complexes with cationic surface active agents. These compounds alter the substrate's surface physical properties providing softness and antistatic properties, but do not exhibit defoaming properties which would minimize their applicability to detergent systems.
Abstract: A process of curing and cross-linking methylhydrosiloxanes by contacting and forming a mixture of an allyl ester with at least one methylhydrosiloxane in the presence of a Group VIII metal catalyst, and heating the mixture of the allyl ester, the methylhydrosiloxane, and the Group VIII metal catalyst, in the presence of ambient moisture until the methylhydrosiloxane becomes cured and cross-linked.
Abstract: Aqueous silicone emulsions, especially useful for rendering a wide variety of substrates nonadhesive/water-repellent by polycondensation crosslinking, contain (a) an .alpha.,.omega.-dihydroxydiorganopolysiloxane, (b) an organohydropolysiloxane containing at least 3 hydrogen atoms bonded to silicon atoms per molecule, (c) a polyvinyl alcohol, (d) a nonionic emulsifying agent, and (e) a crosslinking catalytically effective amount of a monochelate of pentacoordinated tin of valency IV.
Abstract: A shelf stable aqueous silicone emulsion which yields an elastomer upon removal of the water is produced by combining a hydroxyl endblocked polydiorganosiloxane present as an emulsion of dispersed particles in water, a crosslinker, and a tin catalyst, the tin catalyst being in the form of a divalent tin atom combined with organic radicals. The emulsion, after crosslinking of the polydiorganosiloxane, can be reinforced with colloidal silica without affecting the shelf life of the reinforced emulsion.
Abstract: A coating for a paper substrate produced by contacting and forming a mixture of an allyl ester with at least one methylhydrosiloxane in the presence of a Group VIII metal catalyst, coating the mixture on the substrate, and heating the mixture of the allyl ester, the methylhydrosiloxane, the substrate, and the Group VIII metal catalyst, in the presence of ambient moisture until the methylhydrosiloxane becomes cured and cross-linked.
