  • Patent number: 5743479
Abstract: A dual bearing type reel formed so that a spool (16), which is supported for rotation between left and right side plates (12, 13) of the reel body, can be removed by removing the side plate that is opposite the handle side of the reel. The spool is removed from the frame (10) of the reel body by passing the spool through a hole in the frame. The profile of the side plate opposite the handle coincides with that of the frame, except for at the front portion of the reel body. The periphery of the frame in the front portion extends farther in the forward direction. The dual bearing type reel provides a good feel of gripping. It also is compact, protects its side plate from frontal impacts, and has a configuration preventing dirt from entering between the frame and the side plate, so that the facility of removal and attachment of the side plate is maintained.

  • Patent number: 5743478
Abstract: A fixed spool, rotary line recovery device fishing reel includes a rotary drum carrying a recovery device bail arm articulated to the drum at both ends. The first end of the bail arm carries a roller over which the line passes during recovery. The roller is cylindrical or slightly concave and of sufficient length to allow unimpeded axial movement of the line due to the amount of line wound onto the spool and due to the relative position of the recovery device relative to the fishing pole. This reduces the stresses exerted on the line and its gradual tendency to twist.

  • Patent number: 5738340
Abstract: A stirrup device is provided which has a mounting piece to secure a saddle, a large vehicle, or another apparatus. A drum is rotatably attached to the mounting piece. A pulley system has an attached stirrup and is operably connected to the drum for lifting and lowering the stirrup. A cable operably connects the pulley system to the drum. The drum is adapted to receive a force to rotate the drum such that the stirrup is raised or lowered depending upon the direction of rotation of the drum. The drum may be adapted to receive a cordless electric drill for rotation of the drum. Alternatively, the drum may be secured to an electric motor or the like for imparting a rotating force on the drum.

  • Patent number: 5735506
Abstract: A winch operates with a hydraulic motor which is supplied by a servo-valve. The servo-valve is connected as a 3-way system so that the supply hose used as a discharge when the load is being winched up is connected directly to the fluid return and so that during the descent, this motor is no longer supplied with high pressure and the fluid is circulated in a closed circuit without pressure. Fluid is refreshed with a flow rate low enough so that it does not excessively increase the supply of energy, but high enough that it limits the overheating of the fluid.

  • Patent number: 5730377
Abstract: The invention concerns a spinning reel for fishing which is not affected by a diameter of a roll of a wound fishing line, and hence is able to avoid accumulation of twist of a fishing line and entanglement of a fishing line resulting from accumulation of twist of a fishing line, thereby enhancing the handling property of a spinning reel. In the spinning reel for fishing, a support member for supporting a line roller to a rotor is provided with a first control section for controlling a line path from a distal end of a fishing rod to the line roller, and with a second control section for controlling a line path from the line roller to the spool. The first control section is disposed closer to a direction of fishing line winding carried out by the rotor than the second control section. The line roller may be mounted at a fixed, oblique angle either within the support member or relative to a fishing line winding direction or rotor axis.

  • Patent number: 5725200
Abstract: A snatch block assembly for engaging a line between its ends includes a pair of arms mounted at their inner ends to a base. Engagement structure, in the form of a roller, is mounted to the outer end of each arm. The arms are either fixed in position relative to the base or are pivotably mounted to the base. The line is engageable with the engagement structure by inserting a line between the arms, with the portion of the line engaging the arms being parallel to the axes of rotation of the rollers. The line is then moved into engagement with the rollers so as to pass through a passage defined between the facing surfaces of the arms. The rollers thus engage the line between its ends to temporarily maintain the line in a desired position. When the arms are pivotably mounted to the base, movement of the line between the arms engages side edges of the arms to move the arms apart, and a biasing mechanism such as a spring moves the arms back together when the line is moved into engagement with the rollers.

  • Patent number: 5722609
Abstract: In the present spinning reel for fishing, a sliding member forming a part of a traverse mechanism is fixedly secured to the rear end portion of a spool shaft extending through a pinion in meshing engagement with a drive gear, the pinion or the spool shaft located adjacent to the pinion is supported by a bearing portion, and, in both of the reel main body of the spinning reel and sliding member, there are provided first and second guide parts which are respectively used to guide the sliding member back and forth in the longitudinal direction of the reel main body while preventing the loosening of the sliding member. The second guide part is structured in such a manner that it can guide and support more loosely on the front side of the reel main body in the neighborhood of the bearing portion than on the rear side of the reel main body, and the loosening of the sliding member on the front side of the reel main body can be prevented by the bearing portion and first guide part.

  • Patent number: 5716020
Abstract: An electric rotary tying device system used for tying fishing flies that provides an in-line rotational drive system contained in a rotatably, elevationally and angularly adjustable main housing. Fully adjustable gripping means are non-destructive and are used to tie regular fishing flies while a modified gripping means allows the tying of tube flies. A fully reversible, bi-directional, variable speed, low voltage drive means and rotatable in-line drive system is controlled by a variable speed foot switch to provide variable rotation to the gripping means. The foot operated control switch frees both hands when tying a fishing fly thereby providing greater control over the precise positioning and tensional wrapping of fly tying material. A plurality of accessory bores and a movable mounting member provide attachment points for various accessories.

  • Patent number: 5702088
Abstract: A method of attaching a handle to a halyard winch on a sail boat in order to increase the mechanical advantage of the handle. The method comprises removing the standard halyard winch handle, removing the standard ship's wheel, and placing the ship's wheel on the halyard winch in place of the halyard winch handle. Also, a device is used to attach the ship's wheel to the halyard winch which has a first end inserted into the halyard winch and a second end for securing the ship's wheel thereto. Turning the ship's wheel will turn the halyard winch, and since the ship's wheel is larger than a normal winch handle, a mechanical advantage will be realized.

  • Patent number: 5699977
Abstract: In order to wind a coil on a bobbin, the bobbin is supported on a rotating unit. Wire, which is supplied to a nozzle, is first clamped by a clamp which is synchronously rotatable with the bobbin. The nozzle is then moved along two mutually perpendicular axes so as to, in combination with the rotational movement of the bobbin, permit a coil or coils to be wound on the bobbin. After the wire is wound onto the bobbin, the wire is clamped and cut by a clamping and cutting arrangement which is stationary with respect to the bobbin rotation.
