  • Patent number: 5823511
Abstract: A system for exerting a force, for instance a vertical upward lifting force of a predetermined tension vs. time waveform on a suspended object is useful in training the operators of shoulder-supported rocket launchers. The system includes an actuator for generating a required tensile force, a non-stretchable line or cable for connecting the object to the actuator and an overhead guide supported on an overhead support structure. The cable passes over the guide means defining a portion of the cable directly supporting the object. The position of the guide is controlled, in a response to a deviation from verticality of the portion of the cable with suspended object, before the activation of the actuator so that the verticality of the object lifting force is maintained. In operation, a predetermined force is exerted on the object regardless of whether the object moves as a result of the force.

  • Patent number: 5820052
Abstract: In a spinning reel for fishing, on a leading end side of a support arm provided in a rotor, there is formed a mounting portion for mounting a Support member including a fishing line guide member by combination of the support arm and a cover member mounted on the support arm, and a base portion of the support member is journaled on the mounting portion, so that the support member can be reversed between its fishing line take-up and play-out positions. The spinning reel can prevent a fishing line from being entangled during fishing operation, and can increase the diameter of a spool without increasing the size of the whole reel.

  • Patent number: 5820053
Abstract: In a spinning reel for fishing, by moving an actuator in accordance with an operation to move a bail support member from a fishing line retrieving position to a fishing line casting position, a cam surface of the actuator contacts with a cam surface of a securing member to bring a securing claw of the securing member into engagement with one of several securing grooves provided on the spool, thereby preventing the spool against rotation. On the other hand, movement of the actuator in accordance with a return operation to return the bail support member back to the fishing line retrieving position, separates the securing claw that was engaged with the securing grove from the securing groove, thereby allowing the spool to rotate.

  • Patent number: 5799889
Abstract: A bail for a spinning fishing reel is provided. The reel includes a reciprocating spool for storing fishing line and a rotor mounted for rotation about the spool to retrieve and wind the line around the spool. The reel further includes a crank arm which, when actuated, causes reciprocating motion of the spool and rotation of the rotor. The bail includes first and second support ends and a central section coupled between the first and second ends. The first and second ends are coupled to the rotor at opposed locations and are pivotable with respect to the rotor to move the bail between an open and a closed position. In the open position a user may cast the line and in the closed position retrieve it. When the bail is in the closed position, the central section guides the line to a line guide. The bail further includes at least one counterbalance weight supported on the central section. The weight provides rotational balancing of the rotor to ensure smooth operation of the reel.

  • Patent number: 5799896
Abstract: A transfer mechanism is operatively disposed between a conveyor for dynamo-electric machine parts (such as electric motor armatures) and apparatus for simultaneously processing a plurality of those parts (e.g., by winding coils of wire on those parts). The transfer mechanism delivers processed parts to the conveyor and receives unprocessed dynamo-electric machine parts from the conveyor, one at a time in a single alignment position, at least partly concurrent with the processing of other parts. Loss in production time due to wire breakage at the processing apparatus is reduced by substantially instantaneously controlling the broken wire (e.g., by retracting that wire relative to the associated wire dispenser) while continuing to move the wire dispensers.

  • Patent number: 5791633
Abstract: The skid plate/winch mount allows a vehicle to be equipped with a winch that is readily available for use, and it eliminates many of the problems normally associated with having a vehicle mounted winch. By concealing the winch behind the front bumper and above the skid plate the winch is kept out of the weather, and it is much less susceptible to damage by rocks and other road hazards. This location also aids in theft prevention by keeping the winch out of view. The winch mount also acts as a skid plate, protecting the front underside of the vehicle. The license adapter plate and adapter plate receiver make the winch readily available for use without the need for accessory tools.
