  • Patent number: 5782458
Abstract: A portable carpet stretching device enabling a user to stretch carpeting at an angle into engagement with a tack strip affixed along the base of an adjacent wall, thus to eliminate wrinkles. The device has a carpet-engaging head member and a relatively fixed base member. The front of the base member is attached by an extensible member to the rear of the head member, and pivotally connected anchoring means are utilized for securing the base member in a desired relationship to the adjacent wall. Power applying means enable the user to force the head member and the base member apart, so the anchoring of the base member with respect to the adjacent wall by the anchoring means results at the time of application of the power means, in the portion of the carpet engaged by the head member being forced toward the adjacent wall and into contact with the tack strip. The anchoring means includes a pulling plate having a lower edge adapted to engage the tack strip.

  • Patent number: 5782418
Abstract: A spinning reel for fishing eliminates the accumulation of line twists in a fishline regardless of the line winding diameter on a spool. The line roller is oriented such that the diameter of a fishline guide portion of the line roller increases in the direction of rotor rotation during winding. A guide projection extending generally along a plane orthogonal to the axis of the line roller contacts the fishline to ensure the fishline is maintained at a desired position with respect to the line roller during winding. The axis of rotation for the line roller is obliquely oriented with respect to the spool shaft. The inclination of the axis of rotation for the line roller is preferably in the range of 1.degree. to 10.degree., and more preferably 2.degree. to 6.degree. from the viewpoint of attaining smooth rotation of the line roller, preventing damage of the fishline and stabilizing line control function of the guide.

  • Patent number: 5772140
Abstract: A double-bearing reel for fishing which is intended to improve not only operability at the time of use but also the fishline playing-out operation and besides to offer improved assembling-disassembling workability. In the double-bearing reel for fishing, a handle shaft having a handle is rotatably supported with the side plate of a reel body at a location on a side opposite to a direction in which a fishline is played out with respect to a spool shaft which supports a spool. A drive force transmission mechanism for reciprocating a fishline guide body with respect to a fishline parallel-winding unit by transmitting drive force from the handle shaft to the fishline parallel-winding unit is provided between the handle shaft and the fishline parallel-winding unit and within the side plate on the side where the handle is disposed.

  • Patent number: 5769351
Abstract: Saddle-shaped, flared deflection coil for display tubes, having two arcuate connection portions at the ends and two interposed coil flanks located at both sides of a window. The coil is wound by making use of two wire bundles which are simultaneously fed (by means of two winding arms or flyers). At certain instants during the winding process, the flyers can be moved apart in such a way that a pin can be inserted between the wire bundles. The result is a coil having (triangular) apertures in the flank portions in which one wire bundle extends along one side of each aperture and the other wire bundle extends along another side.

  • Patent number: 5769344
Abstract: The present disclosure concerns a spinning reel for fishing which eliminates the accumulation of line twists in a fishline regardless of the line winding diameter on a spool. The spinning reel for fishing includes a rotor rotatably mounted to a reel main body, and the spool is supported on the reel main body through a spool shaft. Turning a manual handle causes the rotor to rotate around the spool. A line roller is supported on the rotor and guides the fishline onto the spool during winding. The line roller is oriented such that the diameter of a fishline guide portion of the line roller increases in the direction of rotor rotation during winding. A guide projection extending generally toward the longitudinal midpoint of the line roller contacts the fishline to ensure the fishline is maintained at a desired position with respect to the line roller during winding.

  • Patent number: 5762279
Abstract: A dual draw works hoisting apparatus. A single derrick structure is provided for two drilling rigs. The crown block platform receives the crown blocks for both drilling operations such that both crown blocks are slidable along the crown block platform. The hoisting lines are reaved in a conventional manner, except for the dead lines. The dead lines from the two crown blocks are connected together by means of a sheave assembly which is locked in position during normal independent operation of the crown blocks and their respective travelling blocks. To provide increased lifting capacity for lifting the drilling riser, the crown blocks are moved closer together on the platform such that the travelling blocks may be attached to a spreader bar to be positioned above a drill slot and attached to the drilling riser. The sheave assembly connecting the two deadlines is unlocked to allow relative movement between the two deadlines during simultaneous use of the draw works for both travelling blocks.

  • Patent number: 5749534
Abstract: A magnetic brake mechanism 22 is disclosed which brakes the rotation of a spool 15 on a double-bearing fishing reel. The brake mechanism 22 includes a flange portion 15a on the end of spool 15, two sets of three magnets 56, and a magnet positioning means 58. The magnetic positioning means 58 variably positions the magnets 56 between a first position, in which the magnets 56 are generally parallel to the surface of the flange portion 15a, and a second position in which the magnets 56 are generally perpendicular thereto. The rotation of the flange portion 15a causes the rotation of the magnetic flux from the magnets 56 to generate an eddy current. As a result, force is applied to the flange portion 15a in the direction opposite its rotation and brakes the rotation of spool 15.
