    Abstract: A load lifting device of the hoist type, comprises a flat strip 5 arranged to form two hoist runs on opposite sides of a connection member 6 for a load. The two runs of the strip 5 are simultaneously wound up on, or unrolled from, a single reel. A spacing roller 20 forms in the strip 5 a substantially horizontal upper run. This improves the stability of the load by spacing apart the upright runs 21, 22 of the hoist.

    Abstract: A fishing reel having a brake mechanism including a brake drum provided on a spool receiving a fishing line thereon. A line tension sensor for determining the tension of the fishing line is operatively connected to the brake mechanism which includes at least one brake for engaging the brake drum connected with the spool. Under the control of the line tension sensor the brake mechanism is engaged with the brake drum for pre-braking by friction the rotating spool at initial slack in the fishing line. The brake mechanism is engaged with the brake drum for abruptly stopping by wedging the spool at slack beyond the initial slack. Under the control of the line tension sensor, the brake mechanism frictionally engages the brake drum for pre-braking the rotating spool when slack is initially sensed in the fishing line. When slack beyond that initially sensed occurs, at least one brake of the brake mechanism is wedged against the brake drum for abruptly stopping the spool.

    Abstract: A handle assembly for a fishing reel includes a crank arm and a handle grip. The handle grip includes a linking member and a knob member having a smooth outer surface. The knob member defines first, second and third axes that are mutually perpendicular and meet at a point of intersection, and has a cross section in each plane perpendicular to the second axis that is bounded by at least a portion of a curve selected from the group consisting of a conic section and an oval. The portions define at least a portion of the smooth outer surface of the knob member. The cross sections decrease in area outward from the point of intersection along the second axis in either direction. The inventive handle assembly substantially conforms to the shape of a human palm, and enables a user to rapidly wind the knob member over an extended period of time without causing the user's hand to tire easily.

A nylon wheel is rotatably mounted between the forked arms. The wheel has an annular grooved recessed around the circumference thereof. The groove is configured to receive a wireline. An arcuate shroud is positioned over a portion of the circumference of the wheel. A pair of spaced apart retention pads are mounted to the shroud. Each of the pads are configured to be received within the groove of the wheel so as to prevent accidental jumping of the wireline out of the groove. A pair of tubular posts project from opposing sides of the shroud and are selectively received within the channel of a tubular member upwardly projecting from each forked arm.

The strap storage section includes a spool housing and a spool in the housing mounted for rotation about an axis with the spool having exposed serrated edges extending beyond the walls of the housing so that the user holding the device with one hand may use the thumb to rotate the spool. The variable length strap extends through the strap tensioning section and has a lever arm which upon rotation selectively decreases the length of the strap to place a tension on the straps when the straps are connected at free ends to a fixed location.

A sub-drag mechanism actuation mechanism is disposed on the same side of the face gear as the pinion gear for locking and unlocking the spool shaft against rotation within the housing, thus enabling and dis-enabling the sub-drag mechanism.

    Abstract: A wheel for a vehicle is adapted for use as a winch. The wheel has an axis of rotation, an end face and a contoured surface visible when a tire is mounted on the wheel. A plurality of spaced brackets are fastened to the surface of the wheel and lie parallel to the axis of rotation. A plurality of fingers, with each finger slidably movable in an associated bracket of the plurality of brackets, are deployable from a retracted position at which the fingers lie parallel to the axis of rotation and do not protrude beyond the end face of the wheel, and an extended position at which the fingers extend beyond the end face. When extended, the fingers can engage a rope attached to a stationary object, and when the wheel is rotated, the vehicle can be drawn toward the stationary object thereby rescuing the vehicle from tractionless environments.

The elevating unit is hung down from the supporting unit via the rope or the chain to be moved vertically. This reactor internal equipment hoisting apparatus is easy in maintenance and storage.

A tether (22) extends over the disc and is secured at one end to an anchorage (23) on the base and the other end supports the load (10). The effective force applied by the strut to the weight (10) will be determined by the effective radii of the disc (20) at points where the tether engages the disc.

The body is secured to a forearm of an operator so the fishing line extends generally parallel to the forearm towards a hand of the operator and the forefinger of the hand is able to engage the fishing line forward of the guide.

The resistive drag automatically adjust in proportion to the force exerted by the hooked fish, especially with accelerated movements.
