  • Patent number: 4354402
Abstract: The invention pertains to rotary volumetric apparatus comprising a stationary framework and a rotary assembly mounted thereon. The rotary assembly includes a rotary shaft. The apparatus further includes a reciprocating drive engine and a driven member connected to the rotary shaft. A linkage system drivingly connects the driven member to the engine for rotation in a first direction upon reciprocating movement of the engine in a first directional mode and for rotation in a second direction opposite the first direction upon reciprocating movement of the engine in a second directional mode opposite the first mode. A clutch interconnects the driven member and the shaft and is operative upon rotation of the driven member in the first direction to cause rotation of the shaft therewith, and upon rotation of the driven member in the second direction, to permit relative rotation between the driven member and the shaft, whereby the shaft is rotated by the drive engine in temporally spaced increments.

  • Patent number: 4354398
Abstract: A control mechanism for use with a hydraulic locking device to permit the device to be unlocked under control of an operator. The control mechanism includes a lever assembly fastened to the piston rod of the hydraulic control device and connected by a cable to a remotely located push button assembly. When the operator presses the push button, the cable is drawn causing the lever assembly to move an operating rod of the hydraulic locking device to a release position thereby unlocking the device. The lever assembly can be installed on the hydraulic locking device without the use of tools by sliding a spring clip which is a non-removable portion of the lever assembly. A threaded collar permits the effective length of the conduit to be altered to adjust the stroke of the mechanism. The spring cip is made to serve a dual purpose.

  • Patent number: 4353267
Abstract: The invention relates to a control rod or power transmission rod of tubular shape whose ends are provided with bearings and which is formed of continuous fibres or wires coated with resin and wound around internal elements of the bearings. To provide the rod with a high transverse strength, the fibres or wires are wound on the internal elements of the bearings at an angle greater than 180.degree., for example, 270.degree., and intersect each other where they leave these elements, so as to avoid forming a plane of weakness liable to fracture.

  • Patent number: 4353271
Abstract: A precision rotary indexing fixture is disclosed of the type including a top plate adapted to have work pieces mounted thereon with the work plate indexed to any of a plurality of precision rotary positions. The precision locking of the top plate is achieved by serrated coupling rings, one mounted on the outer periphery of the top plate, the other mating ring mounted on a base structure. The top plate is locked in various index positions by the application of disc spring sets acting on the top plate through an annular piston and a set of bearing elements mounted in opposed grooves in the piston and a race ring mounted to the top plate. The fluid forces acting on the piston acts to release the locking pressure exerted by the disc spring sets and release the coupling serration engagement during indexing of the top plate.

  • Patent number: 4352299
Abstract: An intermittent motion gear apparatus for positioning a control valve to an open position in response to a predetermined input. An input greater than the predetermined input has no effect on the valve's position but sets a mechanical servo for a desired output corresponding to an operational position of a motor. When the operational position of the motor is reached, a feedback signal acts on the intermittent motion to move the control valve to a null or closed position.

  • Patent number: 4352483
Abstract: A mechanism for providing differential control of the opening of the throttle valve which controls the amount of air introduced into the induction manifold of an internal combustion engine. The angle of opening of the throttle valve changes with a predetermined law of variation with respect to the displacement of a member controlled directly by the throttle pedal; this member has cam faces formed thereon for successive engagement by different rollers spaced along a transmission member the angular displacement of which is directly related to the angular displacement of the throttle valve. Transmission of movement from the transmission member is by means of meshing toothed sectors providing a fixed ratio, or by way of direct connection to the butterfly spindle.

  • Patent number: 4349094
Abstract: The device comprises a cylinder-piston unit B, the chambers B1 and B2 whereof are connected with the delivery of control pump A and with the control member K2 of utilizer K1. The movable part 14 of the said cylinder-piston unit B is subjected to the influence of spring means 16 and presents a calibrated opening D, said opening being co-axial with the said cylinder-piston unit, while means 20 and 22 sensitive to the pressure building up in chamber B2 of the cylinder-piston unit B control the communication between the said chamber B2 and discharge A1. Said means 20 and 22 are combined with adjustable members 24, 28, 36 which counteract the action of the pressure building up in chamber B2 of the cylinder-piston unit B. It is thus possible to fill the actuating group K2 within a pre-determined period of time.
