    Abstract: A device for opening and closing vehicle doors is proposed, in which pivot levers 15, 16 operate between the vehicle door 10 and the vehicle body 11 and with their ends engage longitudinally displaceable guide elements 25, 26, which run on guide rails 23, 24 located on the vehicle and on the vehicle door 10. The pivot levers 15, 16 indirectly engage the body 11 of the vehicle via an intermediary part 14, and the intermediary part 14 is pivotably attached to the body 11 in the standard door stops 12. The pivot levers 15, 16 form a lever system in the manner of a multi-member kinematic chain, and the kinematics of the lever system can be modified by means of an actuating device such that the vehicle door 10 can function in either the normal swiveling mode or in a sliding mode.

    Abstract: A mechanism for automatically blocking the gap between the bottom edge of a door leaf, hung to open and close within a surrounding frame, and the adjacent threshold, when the door is closed; and automatically unblocking that gap when the door starts to open again, comprises an elongate bar housed above a strip of material in the bottom edge region of the door leaf. The bar and strip of material each are coupled to respective attraction/repulsion elements. One element is a magnet and the other is a piece of material having a positive reaction to a magnet, typically a further magnet. One end of the bar or an auxiliary member coupled to the bar protrudes from an edge of the door adjacent the door frame. The arrangement is such that, with the door open, the strip of material is raised clear of the adjacent threshold.

    Abstract: A drive mechanism for full-automatic opening and closing of a sliding door comprises two drive mechanisms for supplying different moving speeds to the door. A main motor for the higher speed drives a worm-gear spindle, a low-power motor for the lower speed drives a profiled bar. A gear wheel moving on the worm-gear spindle and a pinion slideably mounted on the profiled bar mesh with each other and are contained in a sliding carriage guiding the sliding door via a latch. The selective or common drive of both motors results in various combinations and enables an adaptation to the requirements for variable door speeds. The drive mechanism is of simple design, relatively cheap and does not require trained service personnel.

    Abstract: The present door for a motor vehicle includes a door glass, a door glass piece and a guide groove. The door glass piece has a substantially crank shape and a forward end sliding portion offset into the vehicle and secured to an end portion of the door glass, the sliding portion of the door glass piece being slidably guided by the guide groove on a door frame aligned to enable opening and closing of the door glass, while the outer surfaces of the door glass and the door frame are substantially flush with each other. According to the present invention the sliding portion of the door glass piece and the door glass are formed such that an angle formed by a center line of the sliding portion and the outer surface of the door glass is less than 180.degree., the outer surface of the vehicle being curved and the door glass conforming to the curvature of the outer surface of a vehicle body, which is continuously formed by the outer surfaces of the door glass and the door frame.

Carried within the frame, and concealing an interior portion of the head section of the frame is a sight baffle which has integrally formed therewith a weather stripping element positioned to sealingly engage a window sash installed in the frame. The wood facing members collectively define in the assembled frame an interior wood border which provides the frame with an all-wood interior appearance and further functions as a thermal damper to inhibit outward and inward heat flow through the frame.

    Abstract: A sliding door panel is provided which moves bodily into and out of a recess so as to be closed or open, and when out of the recess it may be rolled sideways clear of the recess for ingress or egress therethrough. The moveable door panel is provided with a pair of crank shafts which carry crank arms, and one mounted so that rotation of a door handle causes rotation of the crank shafts and arms. The crank arms are each fixed at one end relative to the door, and at the other end relative to a track so as to cause the bodily movement of the door. The crank arms are also co-operatively associated with latch bars which enter latch slots at both the mullion and jamb sides of the door, so as to assure positive, intruder-proof latching of the door panel when closed.
