Abstract: A system and method of emulating a network controller within an information handling system is disclosed. In one form, an information handling system can include a host chipset operably coupled to a network interface controller of a first main circuit board, and a management controller operably coupled to the host chipset. The information handling system can also include an emulated network interface controller operable to be activated by the management controller. The information handling system can further include a communication bus coupled to the host chipset and the management controller. In one form, the communication bus is operable to activate a communication link between the host chipset and the emulated network interface controller.

Abstract: A client apparatus receives first data from a server and later receives second data from the same server in response to a refresh invocation. The client apparatus parses the received data to generate logical structures representing the data and then compares the logical structures using a tree walking algorithm. Where a difference is found between the first data and second data, the first data is updated using the second data and rendered at the client apparatus.

Abstract: Among other disclosure, a computer-implemented method for creating an electronic communication includes identifying, for an electronic communication regarding multiple items that is to be sent, a default value that applies to at least one of the items. The method includes including the default value in a default component configured for holding multiple default values. The method includes identifying a data structure that is common to more than one of the multiple items. The method includes defining the data structure in a list component configured for holding multiple data structures. The method includes forwarding the electronic communication, including the default component and the list component.

Abstract: A method for creating a newly configured policy comprises a plurality of operations. An operation is performed for receiving a policy creation request including identification information corresponding to a template policy, override information corresponding to the template policy and override information corresponding to a policy referenced by the template policy. An operation is performed for facilitating cloning of a new referenced policy in accordance with the override information corresponding to the referenced policy. An operation is performed for assigning the new referenced policy to a configuration of the template policy. An operation is performed for facilitating cloning of a new policy in accordance with the override information corresponding to the template policy, the template policy configuration and the assigned new referenced policy.

Abstract: An apparatus consisting of a networked data storage device and a software system for automatically indexing the data on the storage device by topic, and for sharing both the data and the topic indexes on the network. These may be used to provide the user of the apparatus with functionality including, but not limited to, content-based searching, sharing and automatic recommendations. The storage device stores its data by means of a file system. The indexing portion of the software performs topic-based categorization by means of a higher-order path analysis algorithm, which mimics human intuition by considering both high- and low-order links between data elements. The indexes generated by the software arc automatically partitioned by topic. The indexing software operates continuously and transparently, updating the index as data is added to or removed from the storage device.

Abstract: The claimed subject matter provides systems and/or methods that facilitate interpreting Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) data to view and/or edit MIME content. An interface can obtain MIME data. For instance, this MIME data can be obtained from a stream of MIME data, from loading a static file including the MIME data, etc. Moreover, any disparate type of RFC 822 data can additionally or alternatively be received by the interface. In an embodiment, a MIME reader analyzes the MIME data (and/or normalized RFC 822 data) to interpret encoded structural information and generates at least one primitive based on the encoded structural information. A MIME writer which complements the MIME reader then generates MIME data from the at least one primitive. Further, a hierarchical model can be built utilizing the at least one primitive.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a connector, at least two kinds of signal transmitting circuits, and a selecting system. The connector is capable of transmitting audio and video signals when connected to a peripheral device. The selecting system includes a detecting module, a memory module, a comparing module, and a connecting module. The detecting module is capable of detecting and measuring the voltage of a signal line of the connector. The memory module is capable of storing predetermined voltage ranges corresponding to different kinds of peripheral devices. The comparing module is capable of comparing the voltage of the signal line measured by the detecting module to the predetermined voltage ranges and determining what kind of peripheral device is connected to the connector. The connecting module is capable of connecting the connector to one of the signal transmitting circuits according to the comparing module.

Abstract: An electronic mail message (EMM) addressed to a distribution list of an enterprise is received at a server of the enterprise from a sending address outside of the enterprise. If the distribution list has no external addresses, then the EMM is blocked from being delivered to the distribution list. In an embodiment, if the distribution list has an external address and the sending address is identified in a safe sender list corresponding to the distribution list, then the EMM is delivered to the distribution list. In an embodiment, if the distribution list has an external address, the sending address is not in a safe sender list corresponding to the distribution list, and the content of the message is approved, then the EMM is delivered to the distribution list.

Abstract: A method for organizing messages received and transmitted between at least two computer systems over a network and a system configured to implement the method are described. In one aspect, the method includes tracking where a user is gazing as the user is composing an outgoing message on a first computer system. During a composition time period in which the user is composing the outgoing message, a relevance rating for each of a plurality of gaze areas is determined. Each gaze area is associated with one of a plurality of messages displayed by the first computer system, and the relevance rating of a gaze area is based on a number of times the user's gaze dwells on the displayed message associated with the gaze area after the user's gaze is directed away from the displayed message.

Abstract: A communications network, comprising a plurality of nodes supporting connection-oriented traffic and connectionless traffic, wherein management traffic between the nodes is propagated as connectionless traffic having a unique management traffic Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) identifier (VID), and wherein at least one node is configured to perform a Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) exchange operation to enable detection of inconsistent provisioning of the Management VID in at least one node. Also disclosed is a communications network component, comprising logic that enables connection-oriented traffic and VLAN-based connectionless traffic, wherein the logic propagates management messages as VLAN-based connectionless traffic having a management VID, and wherein the logic enables detection of inconsistent management VIDs in a network.

Abstract: A system for providing a network booting (NB) of at least one client therein is provided. The system includes a torrent-based peer-to-peer (P2P) system imposed on the network system, wherein the at least one client is a peer in the P2P system; and at least one host operable as a source in the torrent-based P2P system to provide at least one NB application to the at least one client through the torrent-based P2P system for network booting of the at least one client.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically adjusting the frequency of content background-downloading. An apparatus such as a cell phone, personal digital assistant, or computer, will be set to perform background-downloads of content at a particular frequency. The apparatus will then determine the frequency with which a user accesses background-downloaded content on the device, and the apparatus will use the determined frequency as a basis to automatically adjust the background-download frequency. For instance, if the user-access frequency is greater than the background-download frequency, then the apparatus may increase the background-download frequency, whereas, if the user-access frequency is less than the background-download frequency, then the apparatus may decrease the background-download frequency.

Abstract: A computer communicates with a referral server according to a web service definition to select and audit performance of an internet service. The computer sends and receives messages requesting internet services available in a geographic region and the message includes an identifier where the computer is located. Other received messages indicating available services including, top-level-domains, currency, and languages available in the geographic region. For example, for domain name services, messages include top-level domains, and for other services, messages include currency, languages, etc. Messages include a list of providers available in the geographic region, and for each provider in the list, a provider name, a description of provider services, or a provider URL.

Abstract: A calendar system includes a calendar requester client and a calendar owner client that couple to a calendar server via one or more networks therebetween. In one embodiment, when the calendar server denies a particular calendar requester access to the calendar owner's calendar, the calendar server transmits a denial notice to the calendar owner and allows the calendar owner to dynamically add the particular calendar requester to a list of approved requesters on the calendar server.

Abstract: A network device obtains capability information of a device existing on a network, activates/inactivates one of a plurality of types of communication middleware on the basis of the obtained capability information, and executes communication between devices across the network by using the communication middleware. The network device also analyses a protocol used by communication middleware of another device on the network, and corrects the corresponding communication middleware in accordance with the result of analysis.

Abstract: Some of the embodiments disclosed are systems and methods of configuring an access masking structure which include, but are not limited to, selecting at least one computer to participate in an access restriction set, selecting at least one storage unit to participate in the access restriction set, disabling all non-selected computers, disabling all non-selected storage units and placing the access masking structure into learn mode. This method also comprises booting the computer, detecting activity between the selected computers and the selected storage units, and automatically building the access restriction set based upon the detected computers and storage units while the access masking structure is in the learn mode.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products are disclosed for presenting topical information referenced during a communication. A topic key phrase is received during a communication between a first party and a second party. A topic descriptor associated with the topic key phrase is identified. A topic descriptor weight associated with the identified topic descriptor is determined. A topic descriptor presentation threshold is determined based on a relationship between the first party and the second party. The topic descriptor weight is compared with the determined topic descriptor presentation threshold. The topic descriptor is presented based on the comparison.
