  • Patent number: 5843484
Abstract: There is described a form tool for compression forming a molded body having a circular cylindrical through hole with at least one helical groove from a sintering powder, which form tool has a mantle (1) with an inserted mold core (2), which forms at least one flight (3) protruding against the mantle (1) for forming the groove of the molded body, and a ring-shaped plunger (6) engaging in the mold cavity (5) between the mantle (1) and the mold core (2). To create advantageous constructional conditions, it is proposed that the axial length of the flight (3) of the mold core (2) should correspond to the axial length of the molded body, and that the mold core (2) should have an axial web (4) continuing the flight (3), which axial web engages in an adapted axial groove of the ring-shaped plunger (6).

  • Patent number: 5837298
Abstract: A vibrating hand trowel for finishing plastic concrete. The vibratory mechanism includes piezoelectric elements which vibrate at a high frequency when a voltage is applied to them. The trowel as a whole includes a top piece including a cover plate and handle, and a bottom piece including the piezoelectric elements mounted on a rib and a flat bottom which contacts the concrete. The top and bottom piece are preferably attached by a series of screws. The vibrating trowel is pulled over the concrete creating a smooth, wet layer useful for lubrication of the area where the trowel and concrete are in contact. This layer develops because the vibrations cause water and air to rise to the top of the concrete. The invention will allow for easy finishing of plastic concrete because of its lightweight and simple design. The invention will also create a smooth finish of the hardened concrete.

  • Patent number: 5837296
Abstract: An ice cream scoop heated by warm tap water for extracting and serving portions of a frozen product such as ice cream. This ice cream scoop would be completely hollow made of plastic, metal or other heat conducting material with a bowl shaped scoop at one end, a handle between 5 inches and 8 inches in length with an opening between 4 inches and 8 inches in circumference at the opposite end and a screw or snap on removable cap. The scoop would be filled with warm tap water at the open end of the handle, the cap would then be securely screwed or snapped on to prevent the water from draining. The heat from the tap water would conduct through to the frozen product slightly melting it making it easily gathered and served. The water can be emptied by removing the cap when necessary.

  • Patent number: 5833872
Abstract: A universal reusable system is provided for molding concrete or other settable fluids for use in building construction. In the subject system, apertured composite plastic panels and frames, prestressed by the presence of an array of removable and interchangeable oversized plastic plugs, are positioned and held in place by a framing system which utilizes a combination of apertured strips used as base guides and both vertical and horizontal channels, as well as dowels and plugs. The use of apertured panels and framing system provides for a reusable assembly whose dimensions can be readily set on site for each application and whose rectilinearity is maintained either by the dowel-aperture combination or by a combination of oversized plugs in adjacent members to be joined and connectors therebetween.

  • Patent number: 5834035
Abstract: In an apparatus for molding resin to seal electronic parts, an internal die space defined at least by pots, cull portions, resin passages and cavities when an upper mold section and a lower mold section are closed, is cut off or sealed from the exterior atmosphere. Thereupon the die space is evacuated using a first evacuation by a vacuum source and a second or instantaneous evacuation by an instantaneous evacuation mechanism. The vacuum source for the first evacuation may be an active vacuum pump, while the instantaneous evacuation mechanism may be a vacuum tank that has been previously pumped down, for example. Using this apparatus, it is possible to quickly improve the degree of vacuum in the internal die space by efficiently and reliably discharging air, moisture and gas from the internal die space to the exterior due to a synergistic action of the evacuation and the instantaneous evacuation. Consequently, the formation of voids in resin molded members is prevented.

  • Patent number: 5820887
Abstract: Pre-stressed concrete railroad ties are manufacture by the slip form process in the absence of mold members, other than the slip form itself. Tie casting occurs on a portable casting soffits between portable soffit anchored deadmen supporting the pre-stressed tie tensile members immediately overlying the casting soffit. Tie formation occurs with the slip form passing around and over the pre-stressed tension members. Track fastening hardware is vibrationally inserted through windows of the slip form to place the track fastening hardware to precise measured dimension along the route of slip form movement and to configure that portion of the tie adjacent the track fastening hardware. End of tie locations as well as tie batch identification are likewise marked during the slip form process. Upon cure, the ties are cut at their marked end location.

  • Patent number: 5820891
Abstract: A molding apparatus produces high-density thin type optical disk substrates having good replicability and birefringence sufficient for practical use. In filling the resin into the cavity, the stress on the resin is reduced by controlling the relation of the cavity width and the injection compression force to reduce birefringence. Further, the mirror surface of the mold is maintained at a certain temperature to facilitate the resin flow and a good replicability and reduction of birefringence is achieved by terminating the resin filling and starting the compression process at the time at which the pressure of the resin filling is at a minimum.

  • Patent number: 5816478
Abstract: A method for flip-chip bonding of two electronic components (27,28) does not use a flux material. A substrate (13) of one electronic component (28) is roughened during processing to provide an improved adhesive surface for a solder ball (12). The roughened pattern is replicated by additional conductive layers formed over the substrate or in an alternate embodiment may be formed on one of the intermediary or top conductive layers. Tacking pressure is applied to the two components so the solder ball (12) will be affixed to the roughened surface and provide a temporary bond. This bond ensures the surfaces of the two electrical components remain in contact with each other during reflow of the solder ball (12) to form a permanent bond.

  • Patent number: 5807591
Abstract: A mold box is flexibly mounted to a product forming machine having upper and lower vertically displaceable beams. A feed drawer dispenses concrete material into the mold box while a vibration system vertically vibrates the mold box while dampening horizontal vibration. The vibration system is driven by a single drive shaft that actuates first and second vibrator rods while at the same rotating a counter-weight in a counter-rotating direction. A set of alignment brackets lock the mold box into a predetermined aligned relationship while being mounted in the product forming machine. The bottom side of each mold box is mounted to the product forming machine in the same relative position to reduce machine readjustments. A set of telescoping legs hold the feed drawer assembly variable distances above the mold box. A unitized pallet feeder quickly moves pallets one at a time from an "on-deck" position to a "receiving" position underneath the mold box.

  • Patent number: 5795504
Abstract: An apparatus includes a hollow shaft (6) with water jet vacuum pumps peripherally attached to the end thereof at a certain distance therefrom wherein the water pumps have vacuum pockets (3) communicating with the inside of the hollow shaft via ducts (5). The lower portion of the shaft is plugged, and its upper portion has peripheral perforations (8) providing free access for air or gas flowing into the shaft so that the air or gas can reach the vacuum pockets of the water pumps. The top end of the shaft is coupled to an electric motor (9) either directly or via a motor reducer (10). When the shaft and the water pumps are rotating within a liquid, the liquid pressure at the tips (2) of the water pumps create a vacuum, whereby fine bubbles of air or gas can be fed into and diffused through the liquid at a submerged depth of the water pumps.
