  • Patent number: 9774536
Abstract: Generally, this disclosure describes techniques for buffer management based on link status. A host platform may include a Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) and a network controller that includes a buffer used by the BMC. When a network controller is in a lower power link state, the BMC may attempt to send data to the link partner which causes the network controller to transition out of the low power state. However, this transition may take longer than the buffer's ability to buffer the incoming flow from the BMC. Accordingly, to avoid the need for larger buffer space, a buffer manager is used to provide flow control management of the buffer based on link status.

  • Patent number: 9762740
Abstract: A T2P (TDM to packet) delay buffer is provided. The delay buffer can prevent double digit detections caused by in-band DTMF leak when out-of-band DTMF is used. The T2P delay buffer is initialized with an audio pattern that represents silence in a configurable amount of delay. When a DTMF digit is detected, the system can stop taking the voice payload from the T2P delay buffer and start injecting RFC4733 RTP packets into the RTP stream at a pre-configured rate. The RFC4733 DTMF RTP packets continue to be injected into the RTP stream until the DTMF digit stops. Once the end of the DTMF digit is detected, the content of the T2P delay buffer can be discarded and the T2P delay buffer is reinitialized with an audio pattern that represents silence in a configurable amount of delay. After the T2P delay buffer is reinitialized, the voice packetization can be continued.

  • Patent number: 9698954
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for determining cyclic shift (CS) values and/or orthogonal cover codes (OCC) for a plurality of demodulation reference signals (DM-RS) transmitted over multiple layers in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications. A CS index can be received from a base station in downlink control information (DCI) or similar signaling. Based at least in part on the CS index, CS values for the plurality of DM-RS can be determined. In addition, OCC can be explicitly signaled or similarly determined from the CS index and/or a configured CS value received from a higher layer. In addition, controlling assignment of CS indices and/or OCC can facilitate providing orthogonality for communications from paired devices in multiuser MIMO.

  • Patent number: 9674114
Abstract: Layout-aware modular decoupled crossbar and router for on-chip interconnects and associated micro-architectures and methods of operation. A crossbar and router architecture called MoDe-X (Modular Decoupled Crossbar) is disclosed that supports 5-port routing for use in 2D mesh interconnects and is implemented through use of decoupled row and column sub-crossbar modules in combination with feeder wiring and control logic that enables routing between ports on the row and column sub-crossbar modules. The corresponding MoDe-X router supports 5-port routing between various router input and output port combinations while reducing both router area and power consumption when compared with a conventional 5×5 crossbar design and implementation. The MoDe-X micro-architecture can be configured to support both single and dual local port injection configurations.

  • Patent number: 9674747
Abstract: According to one aspect of the present disclosure, a method (150) is implemented by a base station (42, 700) that supports a 3GPP RAN (56) and has an associated Wi-Fi RAN (58) that is either supported by the base station (42, 700) or is supported by an access point (710) colocated with the base station (42, 700). The base station (42, 700) receives a request from a UE (54, 800). If the request is for a current Wi-Fi service capability of the base station (42, 700), the base station (42, 700) determines whether the Wi-Fi RAN has sufficient available resources to support QoS requirements of the UE (54, 800), and transmits a corresponding response to the UE (54, 800). If the response indicates that the Wi-Fi RAN (58) has sufficient available resources, the base station (42, 700) also transmits Wi-Fi credentials to the UE (54, 800) to enable the UE (54, 800) to access the Wi-Fi RAN (58).

  • Patent number: 9668271
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product of prioritizing network services is provided. Such prioritization may include a better level of service, more timely system response and/or preferential treatment of traffic. In an embodiment, prioritization is controlled by defining modes and levels of prioritization typically based on criteria, such as the value of a transaction, the standing of a user, or the type of transaction. Prioritization can also be established, for example, for a length of time or for a given transaction. The modes of prioritization may include remapping TCP ports to which a communication is directed, remapping uniform resource locators and/or Internet Protocol addresses to which a communication is directed and/or tagging communications with quality of service information. The levels of prioritization define the type(s) of priority service offered to a user, such as timeliness of system response and preference of traffic treatment, and may be arbitrarily defined.

  • Patent number: 9661085
Abstract: Intelligent services are provided in a storage network using intelligent service modules that can be cabled to a switch external to the switch chassis and yet be managed as part of the switch's logical domain. Data and management communications between the intelligent service module and the core switch are provided through a “soft-backplane” implemented using in-band communications through cabling attached between the switch and the intelligent service module rather than through a hardwired backplane within the chassis. Management communications from management software is directed to the switch, which handles the management functions relating to the intelligent service module or forwards the management requests to the intelligent service module for processing.

  • Patent number: 9648624
Abstract: In a network (700, 800) with a plurality of cells (715, 815, 825), there may be interference couplings among the cells (715, 815, 825). This may be particularly true for heterogeneous networks (800). For radio resource scheduling in such network (700, 800), a semi-decentralized scheduling is proposed in which radio resource scheduling issue is reformulated as load scheduling issue. In the proposed semi-decentralized scheduling, portions of the total load or available headroom are centrally allocated to each local node (710, 810, 820) subject to the stability of the network (700, 800). At each local node (710, 810, 820), radio resources are granted to users (740, 840) of that local node (710, 810, 820) subject to the portion of the load or headroom allocated to that local node (710, 810, 820).

Abstract: The invention relates to methods, apparatuses, systems and computer program products for discovery of nearby devices (510, 520, 525, 540, 545). To facilitate discovery of nearby, i.e. proximal, devices, a discovery control signal (570, 572, 574, 576, 578) from a control device (530) may be used to control the discovery, e.g. how or when the discovery is carried out. The devices may send status information of their status to be used by the control device or the control system for forming the discovery control signal. The control device, e.g. a server, may form the discovery control signal based on this status information. Discovery of proximal devices may then be carried out based on the received discovery control signal.

  • Patent number: 9647800
Abstract: Fulcrum network codes, which are a network coding framework, achieve three objectives: (i) to reduce the overhead per coded packet to almost 1 bit per source packet; (ii) to operate the network using only low field size operations at intermediate nodes, dramatically reducing complexity in the network; and (iii) to deliver an end-to-end performance that is close to that of a high field size network coding system for high-end receivers while simultaneously catering to low-end ones that can only decode in a lower field size. Sources may encode using a high field size expansion to increase the number of dimensions seen by the network using a linear mapping. Receivers can tradeoff computational effort with network delay, decoding in the high field size, the low field size, or a combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 9641409
Abstract: Techniques are presented herein to facilitate latency measurements in a networking environment. A first network device receives a packet for transport within a network domain that comprises a plurality of network devices. The plurality of network devices have a common time reference, that is, they are time synchronized. The first network device generates timestamp information indicating time of arrival of the packet at the first network device. The first network device inserts into the packet a tag that comprises at least a first subfield and a second subfield. The first subfield comprising a type indicator to signify to other network devices in the network domain that the tag includes timestamp information, and the second subfield includes the timestamp information. The first network device sends the packet from to into the network domain to another network device. Other network devices which receive that packet can make latency measurements.
