  • Patent number: 9596693
Abstract: A method for multi-radio coexistence receives historical frequency usage information and historical time usage information from a first radio. The method creates a time and frequency mask by extrapolating the historical frequency and time usage information to future times and frequencies when the first radio will be active and uses the time and frequency mask to schedule a second radio to avoid receiving when the first radio will likely be active. A related apparatus has a collocated radio input for receiving timing usage information, a non-collocated radio input for receiving frequency usage information, and a time and frequency mask generator for creating a time and frequency mask using the timing usage information and the frequency usage information. The method and apparatus predicts collocated and non-collocated radio activity in both the time and frequency dimensions to reduce interference among radios operating in overlapping or adjacent frequency bands.

  • Patent number: 9544018
Abstract: In a multiple interface, low power and lossy network comprising multiple nodes, a root phase device obtains phase differential and absolute phase information from the devices in various network paths. Each device in a network path determines the differential phase data compared to its parent device in a network path. The device transmits the differential phase data to the parent device. The parent device transmits the differential phase data up the network path toward the root phase device. The root phase device collects the differential phase data and transmits the data to a central device. The central device determines the absolute phase of all devices. The root phase device can propagate absolute phase information to all devices within the network. Each device determines the absolute phase data by comparing the phase data of the device with the absolute phase data. The phase data is transmitted to a central device.

  • Patent number: 9541632
Abstract: A base station communicates a positioning reference signal (PRS) to wireless communication devices over a downlink in a wireless communication system by encoding a PRS into a first set of transmission resources, encoding other information into a second set of transmission resources, multiplexing the two sets of resources into a subframe such that the first set of resources is multiplexed into at least a portion of a first set of orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) symbols based on an identifier associated with the base station and the second set of resources is multiplexed into a second set of OFDM symbols. Upon receiving the subframe, a wireless communication device determines which set of transmission resources contains the PRS based on the identifier associated with the base station that transmitted the subframe and processes the set of resources containing the PRS to estimate timing (e.g., time of arrival) information.

  • Patent number: 9538467
Abstract: A wireless telecommunications system including a base station and a terminal device and employing a radio interface having a downlink radio frame structure including radio subframes including an arrangement of reference symbols for channel estimation. The base station is configured to determine a period of time for which certain terminal device specific data are not scheduled for transmission to the terminal device and to communicate this information to the terminal device through selective suppression of at least one reference symbol. Different reference symbol(s) may be suppressed to indicate different periods of time. The terminal device is configured to monitor the reference symbols transmitted by a base station to identify where reference symbols are suppressed, to determine a period of time for which the terminal device is not expected to receive certain types of data and enter a reduced activity mode for that period to conserve processing and power resources.

  • Patent number: 9537590
Abstract: Apparatus and methods relating to synchronization of communication equipment are disclosed. Synchronization information received from a bonded communication link can be used to synchronize local and/or remote communication equipment, such as femtocell sites coupled to nodes in a ring network. This may involve isolating a frequency reference signal from a DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) communication link which is a constituent link of a bonded communication link, for example. In a ring network, received synchronization information could be used in synchronizing a locally connected installation of communication equipment, and passed for transmission in the ring network for synchronizing other communication equipment. Such dropping and passing of an analog frequency reference signal could be applied in networks having other topologies as well. At least some embodiments of the invention are applicable to optical links.
