  • Patent number: 7500101
Abstract: A device key 46 is implemented on a drive 4 side. To securely transmit the device key 46 to a host 5, the device key 46 is encrypted with a bus key. The host 5 side decrypts the device key with the bus key. A medium unique key calculating block 55 calculates a medium unique key with an MKB 12, a medium ID, and the decrypted device key 46. When the calculated medium key is a predetermined value, the drive 4 is revoked and the process is stopped. The medium unique key is supplied to an encrypting/decrypting module 54. A content key is obtained with an encrypted title key 14 and a CCI 15. With the content key, an encrypted content is decrypted and a content that is recorded is encrypted.

  • Patent number: 7486793
Abstract: The objective of the present invention is to propose an accounting method of the consumption of transmitted services per time unit to a decoder in a system implementing a content encrypted by control words, the latter being modified according to a period named crypto-period. This method consists in verifying if the time-current (TC) is comprised in a time variable (Rdate) representative of the authorisation time of use of the service and, if this is the case, decrypting and returning the control words to the decoder, and if it is not the case, debiting an amount (CT) corresponding to a time of use (AT) and recharging the time variable (Rdate) with a corresponding time.

  • Patent number: 7484104
Abstract: A service providing system passes an instruction form representing an instruction for each server from one server to another to make the server execute its target instruction in the instruction form while protecting confidentiality of the instruction for each server in the instruction form. By combining page dividing (of outputting a file of a predetermined page extracted from a document file having a plurality of pages) provided by a server with e-mail transmission provided by another server, the system implements a cooperative service of extracting a top page from a file of a document entered into an instruction input unit by a user and sending the top page via e-mail to a predetermined destination. The instruction input unit separately encrypts each description about process details for the servers using a public key for the corresponding server, creates instruction forms containing the encrypted descriptions, and sends the instruction forms to the server providing the page dividing service.

  • Patent number: 7464265
Abstract: Disclosed are methods for a client, having established one set of security keys, to establish a new set without having to communicate with an authentication server. When the client joins a group, master session security keys are derived and made known to the client and to the group's access server. From the master session security keys, the access server and client each derive transient session security keys, used for authentication and encryption. To change the transient session security keys, the access server creates “liveness” information and sends it to the client. New master session security keys are derived from the liveness information and the current set of transient session security keys. From these new master session security keys are derived new transient session security keys. This process limits the amount of data sent using one set of transient session security keys and thus limits the effectiveness of any statistical attacker.

  • Patent number: 7412605
Abstract: A system and method for encrypting content in an adaptive manner. Portions of data to be encrypted are identified and an encryption ratio that specifies the one or more portions of data to encrypt and other portions of data to not encrypt is determined. • Patent number: 6859537
Abstract: A Non-Volatile Memory circuit operating as an interface between a key loader and an encryption device. The Non-Volatile Memory circuit includes a microcontroller which stores a crypto key and checkword and a backup crypto key and checkword. The microcontroller is connected to the telemeter transmitter for a missile allowing the micrcontroller to turn off the transmitter during a key load which prevents transmission of the crypto key and checkword. When the microcontroller completes a load of the crypto key to the encryption device and upon a launch of the missile, software within the microcontroller erases the crypto key and checkword from an internal EEPROM. This prevents an enemy force from retrieving the crypto key and its corresponding checkword from the missile after launch.

  • Patent number: 6118895
Abstract: In a digital full color copying machine, image signals of red, green and blue are converted to a value signal, and histograms of the value signal for chromatic dots and achromatic dots respectively are generated. Then, a document type, such as a color standard document, a color photograph document, a color standard document having a colored background, a black-and-white standard document, or a black-and-white photograph document, is determined automatically based on the histograms. Background level of a copy is controlled automatically at an appropriate level both for a color document and for a black-and-white document having a white background according to the document type by gradation correction of the value signal. Thus, background processing is performed irrespective of a color document or a black-and-white document.

  • Patent number: 6112197
Abstract: A method and apparatus for is provided for efficiently transmitting multiple rows of data to a client station. The client station generates a query that is transmitted to a remotely located server, which in turn generates a query result. The server transmits the first row of data from the query result to the client. The remaining rows of data are transmitted by first calculating the difference between successive rows of data. Next, the server sends only the unique rows resulting from the calculated row difference to the client. The server also send an indication of the number of non-repeated value columns detected in order to allow reconstruction of the query result by the client station.
