  • Patent number: 6002493
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for reproducing images from precessionary art. The method comprises the steps of converting a piece of precessionary art to a multi-bit pixel depth bitmap, defining a first multi-pixel cell having particular dimensional attributes from the bitmap, determining a gray level for the first multi-pixel cell, dividing the first multi-pixel cell into two groups of alternating pixels with a first one of the groups being nominally on and a second one of the groups being nominally off, and deriving a first derivation cell depicting a maximum apparent gray from the first multi-pixel cell having the two equal groups of alternating pixels.

  • Patent number: 5999645
Abstract: A color image forming apparatus having a function for duplicating an image in two desired colors. A color of an image of an original document is read into color elements of a red (R), a green (G), and a blue (B) color, represented by corresponding image signals R, G, and B, respectively. The image processing unit distinguishes between a first case that the read color is a chromatic color and a second case that the read color is an achromatic color. When the color is distinguished as a chromatic color, the image processing unit converts the color into one of two predetermined colors, each defined by color elements C, M, Y, and K corresponding to image signals C, M, Y, and K, respectively. When the color is distinguished as an achromatic color, the image processing unit converts the color into the other one of the two predetermined colors.

  • Patent number: 5995240
Abstract: A method and apparatus including a facsimile server for a local area network (LAN) configured to automatically transmit information including client addresses to facsimile terminals on public telephone networks. The facsimile server includes a memory configured to store an address list, entries in which contain a calling number, a local number, and a user name, each specifying a same information processing apparatus (e.g., client) on the LAN. The facsimile server is configured to respond to a request for sending the address list. When a source facsimile terminal sends image information to a client of the facsimile server without specifying a calling number for the client, the facsimile server detects that the calling number is missed and automatically sends the address list back to the facsimile terminal so that the facsimile terminal can properly retransmit the image information for a second time while identifying the client in the second transmission.

  • Patent number: 5991468
Abstract: An image sensor head having a CCD is rotatably attached to a card body having a computer interface. A DC/DC converter for supplying the image sensor head with electric power is provided so as to be situated outside and external device, such as a computer, when the card body is loaded in the external device. This facilitates the radiation of heat. A shielding case is provided to cover and shield the DC/DC converter. When the card body experiences deformation, the shielding case contacts a metal cover which covers a main board within the card body, thereby preventing excessive bending and assuring electrical safety. Thus, in a card-type image sensor of the type which introduces an image to a computer or the like, the power supply for image sensing purposes radiates heat more effectively and is provided with improved shielding.

  • Patent number: 5982925
Abstract: An apparatus and method for reproducing a color image of an original color image. The apparatus and method produces a saturation range of color light in the original color image and reproduces a saturation range of an output device. The invention then calculates maximum saturation ranges covering the saturation range of the color light and the reproduced saturation range of the output device corresponding to each lightness. According to the maximum saturation range of the color light and the maximum reproduced saturation range of the output device corresponding to each lightness, the apparatus and method calculates a saturation compression rate for analogously compressing the saturation range of the color light into the reproducing saturation range, and performs a saturation compression on the original color image using the calculated saturation compression rate. A reproduced color image is then generated based on the performed saturation compression.
