  • Patent number: 9993603
Abstract: A non linear, medicated aerosol holding and delivery chamber without sealing valves at the aerosol inlet and outlet ends. There is a low pressure actuated, vacuum relief, drain check valve at the bottom end of the chamber and an overpressure relief valve at the top end adjacent the mouthpiece opening. The vacuum relief, drain check valve has a radial support plate beneath it that allows for the creation of a vortex in the aerosol plume. The drain check valve also provides for the complete return of any condensed aerosol to the nebulizer when closed. The overpressure relief valve efficiently allows dispelling of the patient's air. Both valves aid in the decrease of the MMAD of the medicated aerosol particles. There is no truly enclosed volume defined by the body of the chamber as the mouthpiece is open into the top of the chamber body, free of any valves.

  • Patent number: 9974911
Abstract: The apparatus provides for the determination of the instantaneous phase in the respiratory cycle, subject's average respiration rate and the provision of ventilatory assistance. A microprocessor (16) receives an airflow signal from a pressure transducer (18) coupled to a port (17) at a mask (11). The microprocessor (16) controls a servo (19), that in turn controls the fan motor (20) and thus the pressure of air delivered by the blower (10). The blower (10) is coupled to a subject's mask (ii) by a conduit (12). The invention seeks to address the following goals: while the subject is awake and making substantial efforts the delivered assistance should be closely matched in phase with the subject's efforts; the machine should automatically adjust the degree of assistance to maintain at least a specified minimum ventilation without relying on the integrity of the subject's chemoreflexes; and it should continue to work correctly in the presence of large leaks.

  • Patent number: 9968481
Abstract: We have developed a female condom and applicator apparatus that makes female condom easier to apply and more comfortable to use throughout the entire process. Several embodiments take advantage of traditional female tampon applicator structure and existing female condom design. This is easier for female users to adopt due to their already familiarity with similar device and their usage. One design has the applicator on the inside of the female condom which makes the applicator reusable. Another design has the entire female condom tucked inside the applicator, with the condom inner ring inside the applicator outer tube and condom outer ring inside applicator's inner ring. Another design has strings attached to the condom outside ring to keep it from moving or make noise. The device provides a low cost, easy to use, no side-effects, and ready-for-mass adoption solution for the market.

  • Patent number: 9962280
Abstract: Disclosed is an orthopedic support for securing about the lumbar region of a wearer. The support includes a smoothly contoured body having a template surface bounded by an upper margin and a lower margin. A central trough extends between the upper and lower margins for accommodating the spinal processes of a wearer when the template surface is pressed against the lumbar region. Two raised plateau regions flank the central trough for contacting the erector spinae muscles of the wearer to provide support therefor. The central trough and the plateau regions form a smoothly curving surface approximating the lordotic curve of a wearer to assist maintaining spinal posture. A magnetic pad is attached to the contoured template surface and extends between the margins and extends over the central trough between the two raised plateau regions to provide a therapeutic magnetic field to the lumbar region.
