  • Patent number: 5303497
Abstract: A floating impeller lure having a buoyant body with integral reaction blades formed therein. In a first embodiment, a countertorque arm is provided for preventing torque from the rapidly rotating buoyant body means being passed through to an attached fishing line. A second preferred embodiment uses the combination of a hook with a weighted shank and a lure dressing to prevent torque from passing to the attached fishing line. An in-line upright hook-trailer dressing is attached to the countertorque arm by means of a swivel in the first embodiment. In one embodiment of the hook-trailer dressing, the hook-trailer dressing itself floats on the surface and helps counteract rotation thereby, in conjunction with the swivel and the bend of the hook and the hook shank acting as a keel, keeping the hook point in the upright position.

  • Patent number: 5301452
Abstract: A bait-carrying fishing hook has an eye, a shank, a rearward bight terminating in a point, and a resilient leg connected to the forward end of the hook and projecting from the front of the hook. The leg has a curve adjacent its connection to the hook which curve may be exaggerated into a bow of the leg such that the center of the leg is further from the shank than the ends of the leg. The remaining portion of the leg may be held by an offset catch at the rear of the hook. The shank, catch and leg, when received in the receptor of the catch define a closed loop bait holder for holding bait on the resilient leg. A fishing lure includes a body having forward and rearward attachment eyes, a hook extending rearward from the body, a bait-carrying fishing hook and a flexible tether connecting the bait holding hook to the eye on the body.

  • Patent number: 5301456
Abstract: The invention relates to a portable luminous trap for flying or crawling insects. A fluorescent lamp in the center of an insect ingress zone attracts the insects. Transparent baffles radiating outwardly from the lamp act as walls and an insect hitting a baffle is stunned and drops downwardly, through a funnel opening into an entrapment container therebelow. The funnel also helps prevent escape of still-living insects from the container. An alkaline dry cell battery powers the lamp, test circuits for the battery and the lamp, and a clock circuit. A photocell is used to activate the trap at dusk and the setting for the clock circuit determines the length of time that the lamp is activated each night.

  • Patent number: 5301863
Abstract: A system and method for manufacturing an article that is formed by the incremental buildup of layers on a work surface contains a material deposition station to deposit the layers. In addition, a plurality of processing stations are employed. Each processing station performs a separate function such that when the functions are performed in series, a layer of the article is produced and is prepared for the deposition of the next layer. An article transfer apparatus repetitively moves the work surface and any layers formed thereon selectively among the deposition station and the processing stations. The article transfer apparatus continues to move between the processing stations until each layer is processed and a completely manufactured article is produced.

  • Patent number: 5299377
Abstract: An inter-line fishing rod in which a fishline is to be inserted into and passed through the inside of the rod and which includes a fishline guide sleeve fitted on the tip portion of the body o the rod, and a fishline guide ring provided on the sleeve at the front end thereof, wherein the radius of curvature of the fishline guide surface of the ring in the cross section thereof is not less than a half of the inside diameter of the tip portion. According to this arrangement, the friction resistance of the inter-line fishing rod to the movement of the fishline at the time of winding and/or unwinding thereof through the rod can be significantly reduced.

  • Patent number: 5295323
Abstract: This invention relates to a humane animal live trap for application to the immobilizing of various animals and mammals. The device consists of a generally vertically positioned, compressed sleeve or cylindrical body of a generally resilient interwoven spring-like stranded material forming by strands interwoven at acute angles with each other a hollow doubly tapered cylindrical opening the sleeve is adapted to elongate when the trigger is actuated and the compressed sleeve is released by the sleeve guards, from its state of compression and circumvallates the animal or animal part that entered in to the hollow sleeve with its central tapered cylindrical opening, and tripped the trigger located centrally at the sleeve bottom. The sleeve is comprised of a loop series which is formed by the upper ends of the resilient strands, to allow compressing and depressing of the centrally doubly tapered cylindrical opening to release the captured animal and reset the trap sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5293927
Abstract: A method of manufacturing strips, bars and wire rods comprises continuously supplying molten metal into an open-top endless casting groove on an annular mold that is rotated around a vertical shaft, cooling the molten metal in the casting groove from outside by forcibly cooling the annular mold, and continuously taking out the cast section from the casting groove at a point where a solidified shell has been formed throughout the entire circumference of the molten metal in the casting groove. A roll is provided upstream of the take-out point to depress the top surface of the cast section, thereby keeping the cast section in close contact with the surface of the casting groove. The cast section then slides diagonally upward over a surface inclined at an angle of 5 to 60 degrees that is provided on the exit side of the above roll in the casting groove.

  • Patent number: 5293709
Abstract: A decoy is described using a photographic decoy image on at least one surface of a relatively flat decoy body. The photographic image includes a low glare coating to minimize reflection. The body is preferably formed of a weatherproof plastic material. The preferred material is polyethylene and an alternate material is ABS plastic. Either the preferred or alternate material may be co-extruded with a darkened core layer of recycled, reground material and light colored surface areas of virgin material. The surfaces are treated, preferably by a corona discharge treating system, to produce a printable surface area. A four color printing process is used to transfer the photographic images of the animals onto the treated surface. Ultraviolet inks are used for this purpose. A fifth coat of transparent ultraviolet ink mixed with fine silica is used to produce an extremely low reflective surface on the image. A stake is fitted through appropriate stake receiving apertures for upright forms of the present decoy body.
