  • Patent number: 7040052
Abstract: A fishing pole bite alarm system, including a pager and a fishing pole having a handle, a mast, a plurality of fixed eyelets on the mast including a distal fixed eyelet, and a movable eyelet assembly hinged to the distal fixed eyelet. A fishing line extends through the fixed eyelets and through the movable eyelet assembly. A tension switch is located within the pole and is attached to the movable eyelet assembly by a control wire. When the fishing line is tensioned, the movable eyelet is pivoted, pulling the control wire in order to activate the tension switch. The tension switch activates a pole light that illuminates the mast and signals the pager to generate and audible alert.

  • Patent number: 7036267
Abstract: A sporting apparatus especially for fishing is supported on a tackle box, pail or other receptacle and includes a reel rotateably mounted at the free end of a supporting arm. The arm is in turn pivotally mounted upon a bracket which serves as a base and is connected to the tackle box or other article. The arm is connected to the bracket so as to be able to swomg about the pivot from a raised to a lowered position and releasably held in any of a number of selected positions by the provision of a releasable lock proximate the pivot between the arm and the bracket to support the arm in the selected position e.g. raised to a 45 degree incline, horizontal or extending downwardly as desired. Provision is also made for moving the bracket from one part of the tackle box to another or to a different support receptacle such as a plastic pail or to suspend the arm and reel from the wall of an ice fish house.

  • Patent number: 7020996
Abstract: Detection and monitoring of flying insects of a given species can be facilitated by placing inside a lure-baited trap a microcontroller assembly that can sense and discriminate the presence of that species, usually by the sound it makes and then sending a positive report to a central monitoring station by satellite, internet, or antennae transmission. The central monitoring station receives the putative identifications of the targeted insect species, matched with the locations of traps responding positively, and then maps the locations of the positive trap responses.

  • Patent number: 7003911
Abstract: A fishing line strike indicator and improved hook setter. This device utilizing a body having a hole there through for allowing a fishing line to be inserted and affixed thereto. A water deflector extends from this body and faces the attached lure. When a fish strikes the lure attached to the fishing line attached to the strike indicator, the strike indicator, as it is pulled through the water by the fish pulling the line attached to the lure or by the current of the water, offers resistance in the water thereby increasing the chances that hook will be automatically set in the fish's mouth.

  • Patent number: 6990766
Abstract: Repeating animal traps incorporating one or more inclined plane trap assemblies with means to preclude an animal on the tilting floor member of the trap assembly from engaging the top and/or side edges of the door member of the trap assembly in an attempt to escape from the trap by pulling the door member down to thereby unblock access to the entrance opening. Additional means are shown to preclude an animal within the enlarged holding chamber or enclosure of the repeating animal trap from engaging the inner end portions of the floor member in an attempt to escape from the trap by pulling the floor member down, enabling the animal to climb onto the floor member and then attempt to pull the door member down to escape from the trap. A barrier in the form of sharpened projections and/or an inclined ramp is provided beneath the inner end portions of the floor member to discourage an animal entering or nesting within that space when the floor member is raised in the reset position of the trap assembly.

  • Patent number: 6986481
Abstract: An extendable wing system for a fluid-born body has a forward wing and an aft wing pivotably coupled together at a location outward of their wing roots. A linkage mechanism mounted on the body provides both pivoting of the wing roots about a pivot point and translation of the wing roots and their pivot points to extend the joined wings from a stowed position to a deployed position. Translation of the forward wing root pivot point allows the stowed wing system to occupy additional space toward the nose of the body, thereby allowing use of wings having a longer wingspan and greater aspect ratio. The linkage mechanism can also be used to incorporate flight control, such as roll and pitch control, directly into the wing system. In another embodiment, the wings can incorporate actuator elements on or within the wings to effect flight control by deformation of the wing structure.

  • Patent number: 6983559
Abstract: A gripper to hold a fish upright during hook removal has a pliers-like body. This body includes a first member having an outer handle portion joined to an upper jaw portion and a second member having an inner handle portion joined to a lower jaw portion. The lower jaw portion is pivotally carried in an opening between sidewalls of the upper jaw portion. Bottom edges of outer segments of the upper jaw portion sidewalls have tooth-like abrasions. These abrasions mate with like abrasions on a top wall of a swivel element pivotally attached to the lower jaw portion. When the handle portions of the gripper are squeezed togther so that the jaw and swivel element abrasions compressively engage a lower jaw of a fish, downward movement of the swivel element is inhibited by a locking action between complementarily formed offsets on a bottom surface of the swivel element top wall and on the lower jaw portion.
