  • Patent number: 8880685
Abstract: An aircraft galley system is configured with a GAIN to GAIN network that allows for data exchange and communication between each GAIN on the system. By omitting reliance on a galley network controller for acquisition of GAIN data, the present system is simpler, lighter, and more cost-effective. Each GAIN may be polled for data by any other GAIN, such as via a data port, dedicated bus, or wireless connection. The data acquisition between the GAIN and a data collection and display device may be wired in network, wired out of network, or through a wireless link such as a Wi-Fi network.

  • Patent number: 8868645
Abstract: A method and system for prioritizing commercial communications based on location data whereby a merchant is identified and a priority communication source location database is created for, and/or associated with, the merchant. Then when a communication from a source party is received from a source party communication system the source location of the source party communication system, and/or the source party, is determined from location data. The location data representing the determined source location of the source party communication system, and/or the source party, is then used to search the priority communication source location database and if the source location of the source party communication system matches data indicating priority source locations in the priority communication source location database, if so, the communication is processed on a priority basis.

  • Patent number: 8849910
Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for collecting and surfacing metrics with respect to their classification; and the use of the metrics by a workload manager and other application monitoring tools to provide quality-of-service and workload management. Each request is classified, either by the application server or another process. A request classification identifier (RCID) is associated with each request, and thereafter flows with that request as it is being processed. The RCID value is used by data collectors at various points in the system to aggregate the metrics, and a workload manager collects the metrics. The collected metrics are then processed by a rules engine at the workload manager, which analyzes the metrics and generates adjustment recommendations to provide quality-of-service and workload management.

  • Patent number: 8838837
Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a failover capability in a computer system that employs multiple paths to transfer information between virtual machines and a network, without introducing a driver component to provide this capability. For example, some embodiments of the invention provide a networking virtual switch client capable of direct communication between a networking stack implemented by a virtual machine operating system and components comprising either a direct path or a synthetic path to a network interface controller coupled to a network. The networking virtual switch client may be capable of determining which of the paths to employ for a given communication, such as by determining that a synthetic path should be employed if a direct path is not available.

  • Patent number: 8832261
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for modeling the performance of an IT service. The methods and systems take a holistic approach by treating the entire IT service instead of the individual nodes. In one implementation, the methods and systems provide a tool for mapping the performance of the IT service based on throughput and response time data. The tool may then be used to develop a mathematical model for the performance of the IT service. System parameters that may impact the performance of the IT service may be correlated to variables in the model. The model may then be used to predict the impact changes may have on the performance of the IT service. Performance maps for the same IT service may be compared over time to discern any departure from a norm. A database of performance maps may be established for a particular industry to facilitate intra-industry comparisons.

  • Patent number: 8825881
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of predictively caching IP content data for a mobile device. In the mobile device, a content request is sent to an intelligent cache server over an IP network, the content request indicative of recurring IP content data of interest to the mobile device. The intelligent cache server retrieves the requested IP content data from content servers and queues the requested IP content data in a buffer associated with the mobile device. A notification message is sent to the mobile device indicating that the requested IP content is queued. The mobile device determines whether it is connected to a non-cellular IP network access point and automatically downloads the queued IP content data from the intelligent cache server when connected to a non-cellular IP network. The IP content data is stored in a cache memory in the mobile device. Other embodiments are disclosed.
