Abstract: The performances of computers having various configurations are compared by putting a common load on the computers. Servers (2-1 to 2-n) provide a simulator (4) with a common interface for accepting a processing request. The simulator (4) sequentially sends a processing request in which the contents of the processing is specified to each of the servers (2-1 to 2-n). According to the processing requests, the servers (2-1 to 2-n) perform the processings and send processing responses to the simulator (4). The simulator (4) receives the processing responses, compiles the processing times each from the sending of a processing request to the reception of the processing responses corresponding to the processing request, the usage rates of various resources in the servers (2), etc., and displays the compiled results to the user.

Abstract: An allocating method is executed by a computer. The allocating method includes transmitting to any one given apparatus among multiple apparatuses capable of executing an identical process and respectively having a different processing performance, a command for the process; duplicating the command and transmitting resulting duplicated commands to an apparatus group that is not executing the process and among the apparatuses; measuring for the given apparatus and each apparatus of the apparatus group, a utilization rate acquired when the command is executed; identifying based on the utilization rate for the given apparatus, an apparatus to be switched among the apparatus group; and switching a transmission destination of the command, from the given apparatus to the apparatus to be switched.

Abstract: Systems and methods for a system for automatically building a simulated network environment creating device profiles with device level metadata, segment profiles that utilize one or more of the created device profiles and that includes segment metadata, and a network environment profile that is created from segment profiles and that includes network environment metadata and a hierarchy based on dependencies with other segments within the network environment profile.

Abstract: Systems and methods for sending/receiving improved in-browser notification messages are provided. The notification messages are overlaid on HTTP traffic on port 80 for IP addresses provisioned to receive the notification messages from various sources, including weather, emergency broadcast, and police stations. A load balancer within the end-to-end system allows HTTP traffic on port 80 to be forked from non HTTP traffic on port 80 to selectively insert notification messages. The notifications are inserted by an internet content adoption protocol (ICAP) server in communication with other devices within the system.

Abstract: A method for providing presence-related information is provided. The method includes creating a template of presence parameters for an application, storing the template, a presence access layer retrieving the template, the presence access layer using the template to create a profile of at least one presence parameter for the application, and the presence access layer using the profile to specify a presence-related action for the application.

Abstract: A method and system for managing multiple queues of a networking device associated with a host machine in a virtual machine system. The networking device includes multiple dedicated queues and shared queues that are used by multiple guests of the virtual machine system for the transmission and/or receipt of packets in a data communication. A hypervisor of the virtual machine system manages the assignment of the multiple queues to the multiple guests by dynamically mapping addresses of the virtual machines based on determination of a load placed on the queues.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices are provided for message exchange between software components. One method includes receiving a message request from a software component to send a message to a destination address. The method includes creating a message object which can be exchanged between software components, regardless of a transport mechanism or a protocol employed by one or more software components, upon receiving the request.

Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for implementing persistent reservation techniques for establishing ownership of one or more physical disks. These persistent reservation techniques can be employed to determine ownership of physical disks in a storage pool as well as in any other storage configuration. Using the persistent reservation techniques of the present invention, when a network partition occurs, a defender of a physical disk does not remove a challenger's registration key until the defender receives notification that the challenger is no longer in the defender's partition. In this way, pending I/O from applications executing on the challenger will not fail due to the challenger's key being removed until the proper ownership of the physical disk can be resolved.

Abstract: A smart watch is provided. The smart watch includes a band unit, a network unit, a display unit and a control unit. The band unit is configured to be worn on a user's wrist. The smart watch includes a band unit that is capable of being worn on a user and includes a wrist band layer disposed on the band unit, an image capture device disposed on the band unit, a power source coupled to the image capture device, a memory coupled to the image capture device, and a motion detector coupled to the memory. The smart watch includes a network unit located in the band unit and communicates wirelessly with at least one of a portable network device and a server and a display unit being coupled to the power source, and a control unit that includes a processor and coupled to the memory, the power source, the display unit, and the network unit, the control unit receiving information from the image capture device, and the motion detector and storing information in the memory.

Abstract: Implementing Web access includes finding a Web module and a Web module method associated with a client request. Based on a parameter declaration of the Web module method, a Web server obtains from a Web context request data that is used to invoke the Web module method. The Web server then stores in a Web context a return value and renders a displayed Web page based on the Web context. In some aspects, implementing Web access further includes analyzing the parameter declaration of the Web module methods and finding a data scope and a data item associated with the request data. In some aspects, implementing Web access further includes generating a Web module instance in response to determination that the instance does not exist.

Abstract: A method for reconstructing torrent content metadata, i.e. a torrent identifier, a segment length and an amount of segments of a torrent content file, without access to the torrent content metafile, comprises the steps of: A. obtaining the torrent content identifier from torrent signaling from a client; B. obtaining a torrent content file size from said torrent signaling from said client; C. obtaining a tracker address from said torrent signaling from said client: D. obtaining a peer address from a tracker; E. contacting a peer via the peer address; F. downloading sequential minimum size blocks of a full size segment from the peer in order to determine the segment length; G. calculating the amount of segments from the torrent content file size and the segment length.

A device image manager enables selection of one or more device images on the basis of various computing device criteria. The device image manager may obtain hardware qualification information associated with one or more device images, and obtain device configuration information associated with a computing device. The device image manager may select a set of appropriate device images for the computing device based on the hardware qualification information, device configuration information, or various device image selection criteria.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for establishing a media clip for such uses as a ring tone at a client station and a ring-back tone by a cellular wireless network. A client station receives streaming media from a network system. During presentation of the streaming media at the client station, the client station receives user input identifying a first portion of the streaming media as a media clip start point (MCSP) and a second portion of the streaming media as a media clip end point (MCEP). The client station establishes a message indicating the identified MCSP and MCEP and transmits the message to the network system. In response to receiving the message, the network system establishes a media clip defined as a portion of the streaming media extending from the MCSP to the MCEP. The network system may transmit the media clip to the client station and/or the cellular wireless network.

Abstract: Systems and methods for reducing the number of challenge messages that are sent in response to an incoming message in situations where the incoming message is likely not unsolicited. The systems and methods include evaluating the behavior of a sender with regard to one or more federated messaging services and determining if the sender is approved or unapproved. If the sender is approved, the incoming message is deliver to a recipient's inbox without issuing a challenge message. Unapproved senders are required to respond to a challenge message.

Abstract: The present discloser relates to deferring invitational content. A content delivery system is configured to deliver invitational content to user terminals and can also provide a means to defer the invitational content until a condition has been met by providing a user interface element configured to terminate the content. The deferred content can be entered into a deferral queue. Conditions can be a set time or based on capabilities of the user terminal. The conditions can be set by the system or a user. The user can specify parameters through use of user interface elements. Deferral can be handled by the user terminal or a server. In addition content management systems can be configured to manage campaigns including tracking costs and impressions. When content is deferred, the initial impression is not fully counted; however, redelivery can be counted as an enhanced impression with a higher value.

Abstract: Computer-implemented methods, computer-readable media, and computer systems for transmitting petroleum well data from a mobile drilling rig. A rig computer system at the mobile drilling rig receives a request for petroleum well data from a first real-time operations center (ROC) computer system at a ROC over a network. The rig computer system has previously transmitted the requested data to second ROC computer system over the network. The rig computer system determines that the first and second ROC computer systems are connected by a network of greater bandwidth than the network that connects the rig computer system and the first ROC computer system. The rig computer system responds to the first ROC computer system by re-directing the first ROC computer system to the second ROC computer system rather than by transmitting the petroleum well data to the first ROC computer system.

Abstract: A method for classifying network traffic, including (1) processing a first working set portion of a flow batch for a first iteration by dividing the first working set portion into clusters and filtering a cluster by (i) identifying a first server port as most frequently occurring comparing to all other server ports in the cluster, (ii) in response to determining that a first frequency of occurrence of the first server port in the cluster exceeds a pre-determined threshold: (a) identifying the cluster as a dominatedPort cluster, (b) removing the cluster from the first working set portion to generate a remainder as a second working set portion, and (c) removing, from the cluster to be added to the second working set portion, one or more flows having different server port than the first server port, and (2) processing the second working set portion for a second iteration.

One or more communication interfaces may be used to associate content with one or more regions of a webpage. The one or more communication interfaces may be associated with the one or more regions of the webpage. Each communication interface may enable users to submit content for access by at least one other user. In this manner, content may be associated with one or more regions of a webpage, thereby enabling users to more readily and efficiently communicate and/or provide context for content.
