  • Patent number: 9571344
Abstract: A process data transmitter transmits process data at defined recurring time intervals as a serial transmit data stream including data symbols at a defined symbol rate. A process data receiver samples the serial transmit data stream at a sampling rate which is higher than the symbol rate by a defined factor to thereby generate a serial receiver data stream having a plurality of sampling values per data symbol. The process data receiver subdivides the serial receiver data stream into data packets, each of which has a defined first number of sampling values. The process data receiver selects a defined second number of sampling values from the respective data packets. The second number is smaller than the first number by the defined factor and the sampling values selected from each data packet are equidistant from one another. The process data receiver processes the selected sampling values as received process data.

  • Patent number: 9571254
Abstract: A method and apparatus are presented for transmitting acknowledgement (ACK)/negative acknowledgement (NACK) signals in a wireless communication system. ACK/NACKs are spread using spreading codes of a spreading factor, the spreading factor being one of a first spreading factor equal to 2 and a second spreading factor equal to 4. One or more physical hybrid automatic repeat request (ARQ) indicator channel (PHICH) groups allocated in units of four resource elements are transmitted, each PHICH group carrying up to four ACK/NACK signals for the first spreading factor, and up to eight ACK/NACK signals for the second spreading factor. A total number of allocated PHICH groups for the first spreading factor is determined as twice a total number of allocated PHICH groups for the second spreading factor. A PHICH group index for an ACK/NACK is determined using a first function. A spreading code index for the ACK/NACK is determined using a second function.

  • Patent number: 9537546
Abstract: A system and method are provided to increase data rates available in mmWave wireless communication systems by adapting a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) in a next generation mmWave wireless communication system. The system and method advantageously employ the characteristics of mmWave antenna arrays, including multiple antenna elements in each antenna array, to implement the MIMO scheme by establishing multiple beamformed communication links between a mmWave transmitter and receiver. An outgoing signal is divided into multiple signal elements to correspond to the multiple beamformed links and each of the multiple signal elements is transmitted by the transmitter across a different one of the multiple beamformed links to be reassembled at the receiver. An antenna element allocation scheme is incorporated to assign specific numbers and configurations of antenna elements at each of the transmitted and receiver to each of the multiple beamformed communication links.

  • Patent number: 9531504
Abstract: One or more indications of signal quality as measured by a wireless communication device (WCD) served by a radio access network (RAN) may be transmitted from the WCD to the RAN. • Patent number: 9531522
Abstract: A system and method for allocating resources in a network is disclosed. The system and method comprises a proactive resource allocation framework in which the predictability of user behavior is exploited to balance the network traffic over time and to reduce the bandwidth required to achieve a given blocking/outage probability. The disclosed proactive resource allocation framework avoids limitations associated with off-peak demand and achieves a significant reduction in the peak to average demand ratio without relying on out of network users. It is based on a model in which smart devices are assumed to predict the arrival of new requests and submit them to the network T time slots in advance. Using tools from large deviation theory, the resulting prediction diversity gain is quantified to establish that the decay rate of the outage event probabilities increases linearly with the prediction duration T.

  • Patent number: 9497064
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and an apparatus for transporting an ultra-high-speed Ethernet service. The method includes: distributing an ultra-high-speed Ethernet service data flow into n virtual channels, where a rate of the ultra-high-speed Ethernet service data flow is higher than a rate of 100GE; synchronously adding a marker to data of each of the n virtual channels; mapping the data of the n virtual channels channel by channel; and framing and transmitting the data of the n virtual channels. The method adopts a channelized transport manner to transparently transport an ultra-high-speed Ethernet service, and implements mapping processing on the ultra-high-speed Ethernet service, so as to reduce its complexity to a level for processing a low-rate Ethernet service and reduce implementation difficulty.

  • Patent number: 9490872
Abstract: A reduced-memory vectored DSL system reduces the bandwidth and memory storage demands on a vectored DSL system in which FEXT data is transmitted and stored. When test signal data, such as training and/or tracking data, is sent to determine FEXT characteristics of the DSL system, error signals are available for all or substantially all of the upstream and/or downstream frequency band DSL tones used in the system. Dividing a frequency band into sub-bands, only a subset of tones in each sub-band is used for deriving FEXT data. For tones in the sub-band subsets, full-precision FEXT data values can be derived. For other tones, approximations of the FEXT data can be derived. Memory is reduced in both the transmission of such FEXT data (between upstream and downstream ends) and within an upstream-end device such as a DSLAM that performs vectoring using a separate or internal vectoring processing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 9456462
Abstract: Disclosed is a tunneling mechanism that enables frames generated by a MAC layer management entity (MLME) to be transmitted by another. By doing that, a pair of stations (STAs) can perform functions such as (re)association, authentication, and the like, without having to transmit frames over-the-air but, instead, use a different MLME for this purpose. This enables the station management entities (SMEs) of a pair of multi-band capable STAs to provide a seamless fast session transfer (FST), including the provisioning of multi-band (de)authentication and (re)association.
