Abstract: Novel yellow dye-forming couplers, and photographic elements, emulsions and processes for developing images utilizing the novel couplers, are disclosed. The novel couplers include (a) an acyl acetanilide in which the acyl group has a monocyclic or multicyclic carbon center attached to the carbonyl moiety, and (b) an aryloxy coupling-off group at the coupling position of the acylacetanilide, the coupling-off group having in the ortho position a polarizable substituent.

Abstract: A photographic element containing a silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith, a dye-forming coupler and a dye stabilizer which has a melting point of less than 150.degree. C. (and preferably less than 100.degree. C.) and is of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R, m, q, X, Y, r, and (R.sup.7).sub.n are defined in the specification.The element particularly contains a coupler which forms a yellow dye upon reaction with oxidized developer. A method of making stabilizers of the above type using particular solvents and a non-aqueous workup, is also provided.

Abstract: A photographic element, and coupler employed therein, comprises a photographic silver halide emulsion layer containing a yellow dye-forming coupler having a the general formula: ##STR1## wherein Z is a ballasted group which splits off on silver halide development which is of such size and configuration to render the coupler non-diffusible in photographic layers, prior to splitting off, andR.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each individually an alkyl or aryl group whose combined effect is to render the yellow dye formed on coupling sufficiently mobile to produce image smearing.

Abstract: A silver halide color photographic material excellent in color reproducibility, color forming property, color image fastness and processing dependency. Abstract: Disclosed herein is a light-sensitive material which has a high sensitivity and excels in yellow-image storage stability and pressure resistance. The material has blue-sensitive emulsion layers containing specific acylacetoamide type yellow dye-forming couplers represented by formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is a monovalent group, Q is a non-metal atom group which bonds to C to form 3- to 5-membered hydrocarbon ring and R.sub.1 is not a hydrogen atom and does not bond to Q to form a ring, at least one of the blue-sensitive emulsion layers contains at least one silver halide emulsion (A) having silver halide grains, 50% or more of which contain 10 or more dislocation lines per grain.
Abstract: A silver halide color photosensitive material which forms a cyan dye that has superior heat resistance and that will not readily fade in a reducing atmosphere. Abstract: Novel photographic silver halide materials contain dye-forming couplers represented by formula (I): ##STR1## wherein K is a coupler moiety based on pyrazolone, phenol, naphthol, enamine, or acylacetamide to which the ballast group is attached, are useful in photographic materials and processes. The containing the couplers exhibit increased coupling activity, and provide formation of dyes having improved maximum magenta image dye density, contrast, and development speed.
