Abstract: A color photographic silver halide negative working duplicating element and process comprising (A) a magenta colored masking coupler in at least one blue-sensitive photographic silver halide emulsion layer; and (B) a combination of (i) masking couplers and (ii) color contamination of at least one photographic silver halide emulsion layer enables upon exposure and processing of the element formation of a duplicate image that enables formation of a print image that is visually indistinguishable from the original image. The color photographic silver halide duplicating element is useful in forming duplicate images, especially for color motion picture films.
Abstract: A silver halide color photographic light-sensitive material comprising a support having thereon at least one layer which contains at least one compound represented by the following formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 may be the same or different and each independently represents an alkyl group, an aryl group or a heterocyclic group; Ar represents an aryl group; Ar and R.sup.1 may be linked to form a 5- to 7-membered ring but R.sup.2 and Ar or R.sup.1 do not link with each other; and n represents an integer of 0 to 2.
Abstract: A heptamethine cyanine dye in which both nitrogen atoms of the cyanine chromophore bear a carboxyalkyl substituent comprising an alkyl chain of at least five carbon atoms. The dyes are useful as sensitisers in photothermographic imaging materials.

A process in which a substituted aminophenol salt reacts with two molar equivalents of an enolizable aldehyde containing at least two a-substituted hydrogen atoms is used to make these couplers and other hydroxyquinoline compounds.

Abstract: Fine particle photographic coupler dispersions are prepared by forming a dispersion of a photographic coupler, coupler solvent and auxiliary coupler solvent in an aqueous gelatin medium containing at least about 1% by weight of an anionic surfactant selected from the group consisting of alkali metal salts of alkarylene sulfonic acids, alkali metal salts of alkyl sulfates, alkaryl sulfonate salts, and alkyl sulfosuccinates; and washing the dispersion with water for a time sufficient to remove at least one-fourth of the surfactant.
Abstract: There is disclosed a cyan dye-forming coupler represented by the following formula (I) and a silver halide color photographic material containing the same: formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, or an aryl group having 6 to 20 carbon atoms, Y represents a group capable of substitution onto a benzene ring, Z represents a group capable of substitution onto a naphthalene ring, X represents a hydrogen atom or a coupling-off group, m is an integer of 0 to 4, and n is an integer of 0 to 4.

Abstract: Color photographic materials comprise a substrate bearing a silver halide emulsion and a coupler composition comprising (a) a 2-phenylcarbamoyl-1-naphthol compound selected from the group consisting of development inhibitor releasing couplers and timed development inhibiting releasing couplers, and (b) a carbonamide coupler solvent. Abstract: A silver halide color photosensitive materials wherein a coupler represented by the formula indicated below is included in at least one layer on a support. In the formula, for example, Za represents --NH--, Zb represents --C(R.sub.4).dbd. and Zc represents --N.dbd.. R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 each represents an electron withdrawing group of which the Hammett substituent group constant .sigma..sub.p value is 0.20 or above. However, the sum of the .sigma..sub.p values of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 is 0.65 or above. R.sub.4, R.sub.a, R.sub.b, R.sub.c, R.sub.d and R.sub.e each represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent group. However, for example at least one of R.sub.a, R.sub.b, R.sub.c, R.sub.d and R.sub.e represents an electron withdrawing group, and the sum of the Hammett substituent group constant .sigma..sub.p values of each of R.sub.a, R.sub.b, R.sub.c, R.sub.d and R.sub.e is 0.5 or above.
Abstract: There is provided a silver halide color photographic light-sensitive material improved in sensitivity, color reproduction and image lasting quality.
