  • Patent number: 9211515
Abstract: Methods and devices are provided for transfer of particulate material, such as biomass feedstocks, into and out of pressurized reactors. Improved sluice devices have an L-shaped sluice chamber having an upper, vertical component in communication with a horizontal loading chamber and a lower component in communication with a vertical reactor inlet or outlet. Piston valves seal the sluice inlet and outlet by axial displacement across the vertical component of the sluice chamber and across the vertical reactor inlet or outlet. Relative to other methods for reactor unloading, these devices consume less steam and significantly reduce furfural content of unloaded, pretreated biomass. An optional hybrid plug/sluice method of biomass feeding using the devices permits biomass loading at sluice pressures intermediate between atmospheric and reactor pressure, thereby reducing “pump cycle” time and increasing biomass throughput capacity.

  • Patent number: 9186859
Abstract: A press, a method for operating the press, and a lubricating arrangement for the press or for another working machine. The press has a press drive that is connected with a ram of the press, which ram can be moved via a transmission in a working direction (Z). The transmission has at least one sliding bearing with one and, preferably, several lubricating points. In a first press operating state, all the lubricating points of the sliding bearing are supplied with lubricant at a first lubricant pressure (p1). In a second press operating state, the thickness of the lubricant film formed in the sliding bearing drops below a minimum value in the region of at least one first lubricating point and lubricant is supplied thereto at a second greater lubricating pressure (p2) in order to prevent increased wear of the sliding bearing.

  • Patent number: 9173524
Abstract: The present invention provides a pedestal for a food processor, which includes a container, a base arranged under the bottom of the container, a locking assembly configured for locking the container on the base. The locking assembly includes block holes arranged in the base, block grooves arranged in the bottom of the container, and a chuck rotatably arranged on the bottom of the base. The chuck has snap-gauges cooperating with the block grooves passing through the block holes respectively. When uninstalling, it only needs to rotate the chuck to complete the uninstalling operation, and thus the operation is very convenient. When replacing the food processor, it only needs to take down the container and other components of various food processors which cooperate with the container, and does not need to replace the base. Thus the present invention can rapidly replace different food processors.

  • Patent number: 9156608
Abstract: A sump protector is a multi-tiered structure placed over a discharge sump at the bottom of a storage bin to enhance the flow of materials to the discharge sump while reducing discharge sump blockage. An upper segment includes a bracket for breaking apart clumped materials in the storage bin encountered by materials falling or flowing onto the sump protector from above. A lower segment situated below the upper segment is preferably securable to the floor of a storage bin. The sump protector includes several apertures that can limit the size of materials able to enter the sump protector (and reach the discharge sump). Even if some of the apertures become clogged, other apertures are available to allow materials to continue to flow to the discharge sump. A bottom panel of the lower segment may lack apertures so as to limit the forces exerted on a discharge sump control gate.

  • Patent number: 9126203
Abstract: The present invention relates to a rock crushing apparatus. Known apparatus operate on the distinct principles of compression crushing (compression between moving surfaces) or impact crushing (compression via high velocity rock impacting a surface). Both types of apparatus have disadvantages in the quality of the crushed product, energy inefficiency or high rotor wear rates. The apparatus (1) comprises a rotor (2) comprising a number of reciprocating (11) and fixed compression crushing elements (12, 13) to compression crush the rock between adjacent reciprocating and fixed surfaces. The positioning of these elements (11, 12, 13) within the rotor performs an arresting action on the rock to limit the maximum radial velocity (Vr) the rock attains before its ejection from the compression crushing elements (11, 12, 13) for impact crushing on an adjacent surface. In this way the disadvantages of compression and impact crushing are minimized to produce a superior product.

  • Patent number: 9108379
Abstract: A tandem press line switches from a synchronized high-speed press control to a synchronized low-speed press control when a high-speed, line master control signal is switched to a low-speed line master control signal. For a press having a slide position which has been determined to be within a press region, the synchronized low-speed press control can be switched to a non-synchronized high-speed press control that is based on a non-synchronized high-speed individual press control signal that is not synchronized with the low-speed line master control signal at least during a period in which the slide position is within the press region, and the non-synchronized high-speed press control can be switched to the synchronized low-speed press control on condition that a press resynchronization point has been reached.

  • Patent number: 9101092
Abstract: A square baler having a control system including at least one density sensor for measuring the relative density of crop slices within the intake duct and/or the intake region of the baling chamber. A correlation function is determined by correlating the measured relative density of slices in the intake duct and/or the intake region of the baling chamber with the cumulative weight of these slices after they have been compressed and bound to form a completed bale. The control system predicts a weight of the slice in the intake duct and/or the intake region of the baling chamber derived from the measured relative density values of this slice and the computed correlation function.

  • Patent number: 9078399
Abstract: An improved belt guide system has individual guide sleeves mounted on one or more of the guide rolls, one sleeve for each belt, in an agricultural round baler. Each sleeve encircles the roll surface of the guide roll and is positioned between the belt and the guide roll surface in a manner allowing relative rotational movement between the sleeve and the guide roll. Each guide sleeve is thus allowed to match the peripheral speed of the respective belt as it passes over the guide roll and allow slippage to occur between the guide roll surface and the inner circumference of the guide sleeve. Flanges extending radially outwardly on each sleeve end maintain the sleeve alignment with the respective belt.
