Abstract: The combined walking cane and lift assist device of the present invention is used to help or assist a person to stand up from a sitting position or sit down from a standing position. The cane and lift assist device can be used to assist a user to stand up from a sitting position or sit down from a standing position. The apparatus can include a cane shaft having an upper end and a lower end, a first, upper handle attached to the upper end of the cane shaft, a second, lower handle attached to the shaft below the first, upper handle, and a resilient tip attached to the lower end of the cane, wherein the lower handle is rotatable up to 180 degrees with respect to the upper handle, so that the upper and lower handles can be vertically aligned when the user is using the device as a cane, and the lower handle can be offset up to 180 degrees with respect to the upper handle when the device is used to assist the user when moving between a sitting position and a standing position.

Abstract: Reversibly expanding covering elements for truss structures made up of scissor-assemblies that are connected together by hub elements structures. These covering elements are comprised of a folded sheet of flexible material such as cardboard or a plastic sheet, or alternatively, comprised of planar panels that are hinged together. As the truss structure expands and contracts, the covering element is compressed and expanded along with it.

Abstract: A door suspension system includes a rail support attachable to a crosspiece of a door and having a part shaped as a rigid substantially flat plate that supports a rail. A pair of brackets, each having a connector, are attached to support block having an opening in which the rail is partially received. The connectors have a substantially C-profile embracing the flat plate and the rail. A support strip is attached to the connectors and is provided with a connection device for suspending the door of an elevator. A magnetic way is attached to the plate and an elongated primary of a linear motor is attached to the strip in such a manner that the attraction force between the magnetic way and the primary cancels at least partially the weight of the door. The door suspension system further includes a bearing of substantially cylindrical shape with an axial recess. The bearing is mounted in the opening of the support block to guide the rail.

Abstract: A first tubular member (11) of an extension device (1) includes a first tubular body portion (16) provided with protruding portions (17) which are so formed on the inner surface of the first tubular body portion (16) as to protrude therefrom and extend from one axial end to the other end of the first tubular body portion (16). A second tubular member (12) which is capable of moving back and forth along the inner surface of the first tubular member (11) includes a second tubular body portion (27). A rotation prevention portion (28) adapted to come into contact with the protruding portions (17) and thereby prevent rotation of the second tubular member (12) is formed on the outer surface of the second tubular body portion (27) so as to rise therefrom. The extent to which the protruding portions (17) protrudes is nearly the same as the thickness (i.e. the height) of the rotation prevention portion (28).

Abstract: A quick release canister supporting apparatus includes a mounting bracket mountable to a rigid support, a rigid, canister retaining frame releasably mountable into mating engagement with the mounting bracket, and at least one latch cooperating between the mounting bracket and the retaining frame for the releasable mounting into mating engagement of the retaining frame with the mounting bracket. The latch may be mounted to the mounting bracket or to the retaining frame. A manually operable release actuator may cooperate with the latch for selective actuation of the latch to release the retaining frame from the mounting bracket. The retaining frame defines a rigid cavity having an opening for receiving a gas canister substantially completely into the cavity.

Abstract: A track device includes a track member having a longitudinal channel and a longitudinal opening communicated with each other, and one or more longitudinal juts extended into the longitudinal channel of the track member. One or more brackets are slidably received in the longitudinal channel of the track member and include a number of teeth. One or more fasteners may force the bracket against the track member, to force and to engage the teeth of the bracket onto the longitudinal juts, and to adjustably secure the bracket to the track member, and thus to adjustably support various objects to the track member.

Abstract: A caddy for supporting and transporting cleaning and/or garden supplies or the like on the rim of a waste container. The caddy comprises a tray made of plastic or similar rigid material that attaches and extends laterally from the outer rim of a waste container. Formed on opposite sides of the tray is a concaved lip and a straight lip. Formed on the tray is a large, centrally aligned and downward extending cavity with concave and straight side walls that extend parallel to the concave and straight side walls on the tray. Slots are created between the lip and side walls of the cavity that are sufficiently wide to receive the curved or straight upper edges of a waste container. Formed around the cavity is a plurality of smaller holes or openings designed to hold such items as a cellular phone, a soda can, pliers, shears, small shovel, etc.

Abstract: A tile having a support layer and a wearing layer. The wearing layer and the support layer are polygonal. The edge regions of the support layer have projections and cutouts, the projections being intended to engage in a positively locking manner in the cutouts in the support layer of adjacent tiles. The tiles may also have an intermediate layer which is electrically conductive. After the tiles have been laid, neither cutouts nor projections are visible from above, since the tiles are mechanically secured by the support layer.

Abstract: A support pole having a traffic signal support arm secured thereto wherein the connection between the lower end of the support pole and its base plate is strengthened by the use of a strengthening ring welded thereto and also wherein the connection of the support arm to the support pole is strengthened through the use of a strengthening ring provided at the inner end of the support arm. The connections described above also enhance the fatigue strength of the support pole.

Abstract: A clamp device designed for use in the motion picture industry where there is a need for temporarily mounting and supporting various lighting and other hardware on or from available surfaces and fixtures without marring them. The clamp device basically includes a fixed jaw attached to one end of a threaded shaft and an adjustable jaw which is movably mounted on the threaded shaft. A threaded adjustment member is coupled to the adjustable jaw to control the position of the jaw along the threaded shaft. Both jaws are configured to accommodate a multiplicity of variously shaped surfaces and structural members on which they are designed to be mounted.

Abstract: To provide a tripod in which downsizing can be easily realized. A tripod comprises: a main tripod body; a camera supporting rod capable of rising and falling; rotatable legs; and operating bodies for adjusting the opening degree of the legs. These operating bodies are provided so as to be shiftable in the left and right direction without protruding upward from the upper surface of the main tripod body. These operating bodies each have an operating plate portion which shifts in the horizontal direction approximately along a plane including the upper surface of the main tripod body.

Abstract: A medical suspension system (10) includes a ceiling plate (30) configured for mounting to a support structure (16). The ceiling plate supports a device (12), such as a lighthead or video monitor, which is mounted to the ceiling plate via an articulated arm (50) and a spindle (40), which is centrally mounted to the ceiling plate. A second device (14) is mounted to the ceiling plate, not through the spindle (40), in the conventional manner, but via an adapter plate (62), which is mounted directly to the ceiling plate. This increases the number of devices which are readily carried by the support structure without extending the spindle length which conventionally occurs when additional hubs are added to the main spindle.

Abstract: A stackable shipping pod adapted for use on a relatively large object having a bottom surface with a plurality of bores therein, each bore for receiving a threaded member, and further having an outside perimeter. The shipping pod includes a top wall which mates to the bottom surface of the large object and has an opening through which the threaded member is extended. Also included is a perimeter wall which extends downwardly and outwardly from the top wall, and has an exterior surface facing away from the top wall and an interior surface facing inward, such that the interior surface of the shipping pod nests proximate to the exterior surface of a second subjacent shipping pod when in a stacked orientation.

Abstract: An umbrella includes a center rod having upper and lower sections. A canopy is attached to an upper end of the upper section. A lower end of the lower section is mounted to a base positionable on a fixed surface for supporting the central rod in an upright manner. A canopy orientating device is arranged between a lower end of the upper section and an upper end of the lower section. The canopy orientating device includes a skirt-like diverging opening formed in the lower end of the upper section and defined by opposite inclined side walls. The upper end of the lower section is received in the diverging opening.

Abstract: A fixture device for installing a display apparatus includes a block for installation, to be fixed to a rail provided in a ceiling portion of a vehicle. The block has an installation window in a side portion and a latch hole in the installation window. A fixture block is installed on said display apparatus body. The fixture block includes an arm having a projection section to be inserted into said installation window. A base plate is fixed to said display apparatus and rotatably connected to said arm. A release lever has a cut-and-raised portion serving as a latch that enters said latch hole in the installation window and prevents said projection section from separating from the installation window when said projection section is inserted into the installation window.

The second side has a first inner surface and a second inner surface converging at the longitudinal axis, and second raised and recessed portions inverse to the first raised and recessed portions on the first side. First and second pieces of wallboard are positioned on either the first or second raised portions on either the first side or the second side and converge for attachment to the first or second side of the elongated member substantially near the longitudinal axis to form a butt joint.

Abstract: A spiral tie and accessory rack includes an elongate supporting member that defines both a curved hook portion for supporting the rack from a closet rod and a downwardly extending straight core portion for rotatably receiving and supporting a plurality of annular pole segments thereon. The pole segments each carry at least one support arm and are provided with interlocking, angularly phase-shifted male and female features on their lower and upper surfaces, respectively. When the pole segments are properly stacked around the core portion so as to be mated to one another, the tie support arms are arranged to spiral around the inner supporting member. The rack may be supplied in kit form, and may also be converted to a table-top (standing) rack or a wall-mounted rack.
