Abstract: A gastrointestinal device and method for inserting the device are disclosed. The device may include a stent including a plurality of strands. The stent may move between an insertion configuration, wherein the plurality of strands are substantially parallel, and a deployed configuration, wherein the plurality of strands form a proximal portion having a first diameter and a distal portion having a second diameter. The first and second diameters may be larger than a diameter of the pyloric sphincter. The device may include a connector assembly including proximal and distal connectors attached to the strands. A cable including an engagement portion may be configured to releasably couple to the distal connector and to cause the strands to move from the insertion configuration to the deployed configuration when the engagement portion is coupled to the distal connector and force is applied to the cable in a direction toward the proximal connector.

Abstract: In a connection device, when a cannula holding member is in a use state, a position of an end portion of an outer cylindrical portion on a retracted position side does not protrude to the retracted position side, with respect to a position of an end portion of an inner cylindrical portion on the retracted position side. Thereby, a connection device including a structure capable of holding a vial by holding means irrespective of the size of the vial can be provided.
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a valve structure that is hermetically sealed to a lower flange formed on an IV bag to form a one-way outlet accessible with a luer tip syringe that does not have a needle. The valve structure can include a piston in combination with a disc or disc valve. The piston can have a slit septum or opening allowing access to an interior surface of the piston. The disc valve is typically in a closed position that prevents injections or other incursions into the bag, thus preserving the integrity and sterility of the bag contents.
Abstract: A gastrointestinal device and method for retrieving the device are disclosed. The device may include a stent including a plurality of strands forming first and second ends, the strands configured to move between a retrieval configuration, with substantially parallel strands, and a deployed configuration, wherein the strands form proximal and distal portions having first and second diameters larger than the pyloric sphincter. The device may include a connector assembly including proximal, middle, and distal connectors. The middle connector may be coupled to the proximal and distal connectors when the strands are in the deployed configuration. The strands may be attached to the proximal and distal connectors and the first and second ends. The device may include a release mechanism configured to decouple the proximal connector from the middle connector. Decoupling of the proximal and middle connectors may allow the strands to move from the deployed to retrieval configuration.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for the isolation, modification and re-administration of a molecule or biomolecule, or a class of biomolecules, from the body fluid of a mammal via an extracorporeal closed circuit device. The device is able to capture and modify the biomolecule by the covalent or non-covalent attachment of a secondary molecule or protein, by cross-linking the captured molecule, or by altering the structure of the molecule (for example, by deglycosylation, peptide cleavage, or aggregation). The apparatus can be used to return the modified molecule or biomolecule to the mammalian subject. The device and methods may be utilized for the patient-specific diagnosis and/or treatment of a disease state which presents an associated molecule or protein in plasma or any other fluidized physiological system.

The multi lumen tubing may include a double wall containment structure with a first lumen and a second lumen. The connector may include a body with a first cavity on one side, a second cavity on another side, and an interior wall located between the first cavity and the second cavity. The interior wall may form a projection in the second cavity. The projection may include an outer surface and a ledge adjacent the outer surface. The projection may cooperate with the multi lumen tubing to form a liquid-gas separator. The ledge may include a bore extending between the first cavity and the second cavity. The bore may house a gas permeable and a liquid impermeable barrier.

Abstract: An easily applied and replaced flexible container pouch applied to the penis end and including a restricted opening collar to grasp the penis shaft. The container pouch comprises a plurality of walls having a fluid absorbent layer between at least 2 walls, the inner wall (proximal to the penis) include apertures allowing the fluid emitted by the penis to be received into the absorbent layer(s). In one embodiment, the inner layer(s) comprise fluid barriers (e.g. fluid impermeable or a thick member providing a mechanical spacing) between the fluid-filled absorbent layer(s) and the penis. The resulting device provides comfort and protection from unnecessary fluid immersion and ease of use, application and replacement.
Abstract: The present disclosure provides an inflatable weight control device that is implanted long-term with an endoscope in obese and bariatric human patients to promote early and prolonged satiety. The device includes a flexible member coupled to a valve body assembly and an elongated durable module residing within the flexible member. The flexible member is selectively inflated to form two bulbs with a central passageway extending through the bulbs and the valve body assembly. Once the bulbs are inflated, the device is retained within the patient's pyloric valve to form a gastric outlet obstruction wherein chyme accumulates and then is directed through the central passageway to reach the patient's duodenum. Due to its unique configuration, the implanted device reduces gastric outflow which results in early and prolonged satiety when the patient consumes normal-sized meals or food portions, thereby reducing food consumption and increasing the patient's weight loss.
Abstract: The invention concerns an interfacing device (1) intended to connect a fluid injection instrument and a puncturable flask (2), comprising: a base (10) suitable for connecting the interfacing device (1) to the fluid injection instrument, an attachment means for attaching (20) the base (10) to the puncturable flask (2), arranged at a distal end (1a) of the interfacing device (1), characterized in that the attachment means for attaching (20) has a divergent proximal end (21) forming a shoulder and a convergent distal end (22) suitable for facilitating the penetration of the attachment means for attaching (20) into the puncturable flask (2).
